Nope Nope Nurses

Fantastic, for a small group of people

The story is set in a hospital. The protagonist can't leave it due to certain medical conditions. The gameplay loop is that the protagonist gets verbally, mentally and physically abused by several different nurses, all with their own personalities. The voice acting for the nurses is fantastic. My favorite voice actress here is the one for Kurokawa, the nurse who is probably also the worst 'human'. Fair warning: protagonist gets degraded and dehumanized. You might feel sorry for the protagonist. There's also at least one instance of non-consensual intercourse. Probably best not to take this title too seriously and enjoy the nurses verbally (and physically) abusing the protagonist, if you're into that. Also, you absolutely need the Unrated patch/DLC for this. The art is good, although I personally don't like the way the protagonist is drawn. Music is good and manages to set the mood. It's not a terribly long title, but there's enough content to warrant the asking price, especially on a discount. It's a unique title that's certainly not for everyone, but might be perfect for some.

Kathy Rain 2: Soothsayer

Short but sweet detective mystery

It's a classic point & click adventure game. The vibes are very similar to the original Gabriel Knight 1 and that's high praise for me, since GK1 is one of my favorite games ever. First of, the production values are really, really good. It's pixel art, but it's really good pixel art. Voice acting is great (especially the lead) and the music track fits the atmosphere. The best part of the game is that it manages to keep the tension. My playthrough lasted almost 12 hours and there was no point where I thought it was starting to get boring. If I had to offer some criticism, it's that: a) some of the characters are a little TOO stereotypical and B) I did not care about some of the puzzles which basically make you memorize and there's no way to check your notes or anything, a couple of puzzles are trial&error. Most of the puzzles are quite logical though and not too difficult. I would've liked just just a few more detective/deduction puzzles though. Recommended if you like the old point&click adventure games and/or detective/mystery. I bought it at full price and binge played it over a period of 3 days.

Destiny Star Girlfriend

Cute&funny VN with a magical girl theme

This VN surpassed my expectations. The plot isn't anything you haven't seen yet and it won't win literature prizes, but it's good enough for its purpose. The actual text is well-written. The best parts of this VN are the characters and the writing. The characters are more interesting than the usual stereotypes. The also have good interactions and fun banter, with the heroine being the star of the game. Also, her Voice Actress did an amazing job. The game also does a good job of balancing story elements, slice-of-life elements and H scenes. I really appreciate that the H scenes don't jump right into stuff an inexperienced couple just wouldn't do. The art is nice and I didn't have any performance problems - except for the opening movie, which had a bit of sound stutter. I finished the game in about 9 hours but skipped in a couple of places. So I think if you read and listen to everything, playtime is 9,5 to 10 hours. I really enjoyed this game. It's worth full price. On a disount, I'd say it's a steal. Recommended if you like a well-written protagonist and heroine, with cute and goofy humor.

Parquet

Great game, fell a bit short at the end

First of all, I really enjoyed this game. The production values are really good. I'd say the star of this game is probably the soundtrack and the voice acting. Visuals are really nice as well. The protagonist is a little bland, I think the game would've been better with a voiced protagonist. The girls are great, as a fan of more morbit humor I really loved Tsubasa's jokes. The story is pretty good, it's engaging and interesting. However, I feel the resolution and ending fell a little flat. Length-wise, it should give you a little over 10 hours of gameplay. At its current price, it's a steal. It's not the best VN I've ever read, but it's definitely enjoyable and still better than many similar VNs out there. In short, I would recommend this title.

And the Hero Was Never Seen Again

Much better than I thought it'd be

It's a fun game, the best part about this is the extensive voice acting of the main cast. There is a ton of banter between the main girls. Main cast are likeable without being trapped in creepy or perverted tropes. Getting a virgin clear is actually doable and the game is very much still a good game if you take away the H content. And you can sort of decide how degenerate you want the cast to be. What I didn't like is that it's not always clear which actions lead to which consequences. I alllowed certain actions for the MC, but it was not nice when I unwittingly triggered a H scene with what I can only describe as "way too young characters". The story is pretty good, although I think it's probably not something you haven't seen before. Combat wasn't overly challenging at default settings. I think this is one of the weaker aspects of this game. It's worth it at full price and definitely worth it at a discount.

Couldn't stop playing

This is not a perfect game, but what is there is done extremely well. The game is thought-provoking an the writing is stellar. I really liked the protagonist as well, even though I think perhaps she could've been fleshed out a little more. One of the biggest strenghts are probably the counseling sessions, with very good characters that each feel like they could be actualy people. The biggest criticism, if I can call it that: sometimes it's a bit of a 'slideshow'. I mean most Visuel Novels have several facial expressions or lip sync, here the characters and their expressions don't really move and don't change. I didn't mind, but perhaps some people will. Luckily, the English voice acting is superb. Music and sound effects are appropriate, they are good but kind of stay in the background. Finally, the artwork is beautiful, even though there aren't that much scenes. Again didn't really bother me. For some, it might be a little on the short side. But even then, I think it's definitely worth it in a sale.
