PixelJunk Shooter

One of the best Indie games of this gen.

Featuring 3 worlds with 15 levels, you may think it's only small. But on every level there's a number of ship wrecked friends that need saving, diamonds that require finding and a feast of enemies, hazards and even bosses to tax your skills. While enemies are a threat, you also have a temperature gauge that when you get too hot, you blow (so water becomes your best friend as it cools you off). Weapons and abilities... You have a standard shot and you can charge up to release a barrage of homing cluster missiles. A speed boost can be gained by pointing both analogues in the same direction. A quick spin can cool you down and it cuts through soft dirt/snow. Lastly you have a handy claw that can grab your friends, diamonds and a few other things. Throughout the levels you'll find the odd suit that allows you to fire magma or water, a helpful shield, 1up's and lots of orange dots which lead to more lives. Level design is awesome, every world has it's own style and hazards. Some times these hazards hinder you, other times they're essential for progressing as water can cool lava and turn it into rock, lava can ignite gas etc... Graphically the game is beautiful and the music suits the game perfectly. The last thing I can mention is co-op, it works well but I honestly found the game more engrossing alone. Overall, I strongly recommend Shooter.

Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender

Fun PlayStation Mobile game

Bought this on the Vita ages ago and I haven't regretted it. It's a very fun throwback to the Midway Defender days, but with lol cats and power ups galore. The game features a handful of worlds with another handful of levels per world, I believe I counted 22 total (And the world menu can be seen in the above trailer). Missions can be beaten without saving every Kitty but saving every Kitty adds to the replay value as you get a plaque on the levels you have... Must resist awful joke... Can't help it... A plaque on the levels you've purrfected. All in all for a few pound/bucks etc... You can do far worse. Add in the co-op on the P.C version and it's enough to make me want to buy it again as my Vita experience is 1p only. All in all it's a good game at a good price.

Redneck Rampage Collection

Just some daft fun.

The whole point of the game is to take the mick out of Rednecks really. This isn't the calibur of DOOM or Half Life or even Postal 2. Becase it's even less of a game as Postal 2 is. This is just simply some daft fun, you run around wasting the enemies trying to find the exit before you move onto the next level, all the while you're listening to some cheesy awful Redneck songs that are funny because of what they are. So if you're just after some simple fun, get this. Unless you don't have Postal 2 yet, because it does simple fun A LOT better.

MDK 2

Great!

I can see why some don't like this as much as the first one, but there's many reasons as to why it's better or at least as good. The controls are so much more responsive, the game is faster, has better music and graphics and plays pretty much the same. Only difference is, is that there's now 3 people to play as. A 4 Armed Dog, Kurt and the Prof. But basically the game is the same mix of action, platforming and puzzling that MDK was and it's got 10 massive levels with a boss at the end of everyone. And the final level has to be replayed another twice to get all of the endings (Beat it with everyone). So if you liked the first, try this one out, it's worth the cash and I think you'll be surprised.

Descent 3 + Mercenary

Not as good as 1 and 2, but...

It's still a good game. This one is vastly different from the previous two games though. While reactors are still in the game, there's a lot more variety in objectives here such as escorting and defending things. There's also 4 ships to choose from now, with some being faster or stronger than others. And finally, they've gotten rid of most of the popular weapons for some totally new ones like Napalm and the new countermeasures such as Proxy Mines or Betty. Weapons that many feel are unbalanced. But if you enjoyed the first 2 games then you should still find some fun here, because it's still an FPS afterall, and you still have to navigate your way through a level collecting keys and blowing up robots :)

Descent 1+2

Brilliant!

60 fantastic levels for less than a fiver! For those who've never played it before the basic gist is that something went down and you're the guy they've sent in to fix it. You've got to navigate your way through the mazes finding keys to advance to the reactor to blow it up, then you've got a mad dash to find the exit. So it might be worth finding the exit first. In your way are hordes of enemies that've gone haywire, so thankfully your ship comes with weapons as standard. And with a little exploration you can find even more than your bog standard Lasers and Concussion Missiles, like Quad Lasers, Homing Missiles, Plasma Cannons, Vulcan Cannon etc... There's also some items out there, for example to help you in dark areas find the headlight, or for a quick getaway get the afterburner! Descent also features some boss enemies, so there's a good deal of variety here :) The only downside is the speed of the mouse, it's very slow. But, for the price, if you like FPS', then you can't go wrong. It's just brilliant :)
