Earthworm Jim 1+2: The Whole Can 'O Worms

Fantastic!

2 ace games for one low price! However the rating is for the games and not for the system. Because while both games are still awesome and still a firm favourite of mine, this is the first time I've ever played them on a P.C and EWJ 1 is a bit of a 'mare to control with a keyboard. I can't get any of my pads to work either, so that's a no go :( 2 works fine, because the problem is with the jump, so I'm happy because that's why I bought this (I own 1 on the Wii's VC). But basically on EWJ 1 you're having to bash the jump button all of the time on certain levels and it's just a nightmare, because while you can customise the controls, certain keys are locked despite having no use. Like S, which means a good old setup of WASD/WSAD with Shift to jump is also a no go. You can't use a mouse either, which is a shame 'cause having a mouse for fire and jump would be perfect. But all the same, if you can get past the controls then you'll be getting 2 excellent games with 19 levels between them. Depending on how you look at it, because certain levels repeat, a lot. Hell, it's worth the price alone just to relive the classic moments EWJ brings, because the games are insane and hiarious because of it. I mean who can forget Princess What's Her Name, or the Almight Cow, and how about Professor Monkey For A Head?

POSTAL 2

GOG's Orange Box

What a fantastic deal! Postal 2, Share the Pain AND Apocolypse Weekend for £7/$10! That's insane! But awesome :D For those who don't know Postal 2 is completely different from Postal 1, no longer is it a TPS Isometric Shooter, it's now an FPS. And instead of just being mental thinking that the world is out to get him, you're just a regular guy. A regular guy doing regular things, like taking back a library book, picking up some milk, cashing a paycheck. How you do those things however, is totally upto you. Because Postal 2, is only as violent as YOU are :D So you can go nuts throwing anthrax infected cow heads about the place, or shooting cats from a machine gun or throwing bouncing pairs of razor sharp scissors around. You can even decapitate people with a shovel. Incase you haven't guessed by now, Postal 2 isn't a well thought out story driven masterpiece that makes you cry at the end, Postal 2 is about some good honest fun. It's also got some great one liners that'll make you laugh out loud. So if what you're after is just some mindless fun, then Postal 2 is the game for you :)

MDK

Brilliant!

6 massive levels of CARNAGE! MDK has a lot of charm for such a violent game, because there's just tons of zaniness going like. From the Dog Bone Airstrikes to the World Smallest Nuclear Explosion, there's surely something here to make you chuckle. MDK does what others games usually do not, it gets the balance of action, platforming and puzzle work just right. As when you're not fighting for your life, you're trying to not fall off something or trying to figure out just what the hell to do next. It's fantasticly simple and fiendishly addictive, the only downside to MDK, is that it ends. 6 levels just simply isn't enough. And I'm not saying that because I don't think the game is value for money, because it truly is, I'm saying it because if this game hooks you like it hooked so many gamers back in the day, you'll want more :)

Duke Nukem: Manhattan Project

Thank You GOG!

For I had never played this game before and now that I have done, I LOVE IT! It's a simple old school side scrolling shooter packed full of wow and funny one liners. 8 great weapons and tons of enemies to kill them with is just the first brilliant thing about the game, the fact that it's so simple is what makes it so much fun and so addictive. Basic job is to get the keycard to exit the level, after you've finished 3, you face and boss and then finish the world. There's 8 worlds total and there's replayabillity in there too. Because to get the top marks, you've gotta find the Babe on each level and find all of the Nukes too. And the Nukes are well worth seeking out, as they're highly useful, 'cause when you collect them all on a level, your health, ammo and Pipe Bomb capacity increses. It's just some great old school fun anf for the asking price, it's well worth it. 'cause they don't make them like this anymore :)

Duke Nukem 3D Atomic Edition

Brilliant!

This has always been one of my favourite FPS' but I've never been able to get the superious P.C version, until now, and it's made a classic even better in my eyes :D 39 awesome levels of action packed madness, fun and hilarity! There's just so much about Duke 3D that makes it great. His lust for half nude babes, the ugly assed enemies that he gets to blow away, the excellent level design, the cool weapons and gadgets such as a Shrink Ray, Jet Pack, Enlargener, 3 Barreled Machine Gun, his Holo Duke and many many more. The Shrinker is probably the most fun weapon though, as you Shrink the enemy until you can stomp on them, and the reason this is so fun is, because you can use it in the deathmatches. My mates and I have wasted MANY an hour doing just that. With tons of secrets and tons of wow factor this game is one of the most replayable games that I've ever had the fortune of playing. For such a small price you CAN'T go wrong.

Cannon Fodder

War has never been so much fun!

Classic line from a classic game. Absolutely amazing startegy game that can be rock hard if you can't think fast. The jist is simple. You get recruits, you go kill, sometimes you have to blow something up or rescue someone, you do that to end the mission and go onto next one. If you die, no problem, just use more recruits. Just try to die too much otherwise you'll run out of recruits and it's GAME OVER! You have a machine gun as standard with inf ammo, and you can get rockets and grenades (But use them sparingly, also stand FAR back!) and that's it, other than your wits. Oh, and there's also some nice vehicules to try out. You can split your group of 4 up into teams so that you can just use more guy if you want, afterall it's a good way to do recon or maybe you're just better at fighting when you're only having to look after one guy. There's only 11 levels BUT some levels are split up into phases, and the phases are regular level size, so there's actually more like 30. So overall, get it, it's a fantastic game at an even better price!

Battle Chess Special Edition

I love this game!

It's Chess, but funny. Got some sweet deaths to it and it's just a fun way to play Chess. 3 games overall, 2 are Chess and one is Chinese Chess, which I haven't a clue how to play nor does it seem to work (Crashes everytime I try to play it). But honestly, what else is there to say? It's CHESS!

POSTAL: Classic and Uncut

Some people are just too harsh.

Yeah if you'd just bought Postal for the same price as a PS3 game then you've got a right to whinge about how 2D it is. But let's face it, it's like £5 (Or exactly $5.99 for the U.S) and while yes, £5 is a lot more than $6 in terms of face value, but still. For a fiver you can get a fun little game that's just about having a daft laugh. I've always hated GTA because all I end off doing is running around killing and that gets boring on a grand scale, but this, is tiny and has a select number of guys and gals to kill. Which keeps it fresh, it's also got some funny moments, like "Blessed the meek, for they are easy to kill!". So my final verdict, for a fiver you can do A LOT worse. But for that fiver you're getting some harmless mindless fun set over 21 levels. You're also getting a 16 player multiplayer mode and level editor, 9 sweet weapons and a great time killer.
