This is an awesome game. Everything about it is so enjoyable. I highly recommend it on sale, or if you can afford it at full price!
Just wish they had of included the ORIGINAL DOS version, as that would make VERSITILITY right through the roof to the max. Yet it is what it is, still a good version, just the DOSBOX versions GOG offers are almost always the BEST because of how easy it is to emulate for most modern systems.
For something made on game-maker studio or similar by what looks to be a single dev THIS GAME hits it right out of the park as far as a fun little inexpensive strategy title is concerned. Game is MEDIUM difficulty from what I can tell. It is only a 1.0 release as well. So more could be done to perfect it, yet for what it accomplishes I am VERY happy with my purchase. HIGHLY REECOMMENDED on sale! Yes if you want something that you can leave installed on ANY device as it takes up only a few MB, THIS is a greaet choice IMO!
The fact you can run this on a toaster. DRM FREE and that with the 6gb visual upgrade etc. you can get on Mod.db (also the Eagle Patch) it plays amazing out of the box. Oh yeah, may want to run the ZERO lag mod as well for the online thingie! All of these are easiyl available. WORTH IT on sale for sure!
This one is nearly 2Gb in size. Only place you can find this information easily is Gog stats for the most part. If you look at all the DLC's you will see MOST of them are just a FEW MB. This one here has some juice on it. You also get MORE than you get with ANY of the other individual DLC. I have yet to purchase, and I own the game on Steam. Yet in doing all this research to figure things out, that is what I have learned. So obviously I have to avoid giving my opinion on gameplay. Yet just sharing what I can for the knowledge about this game. So far I only KNOW OF 3 triple A releases that have DROP IN DROP OUT AI functionality (meaning you can have the AI play for you while you watch) and that is both GalCiv 3 & 4 and Stellaris.
Played this a few years back, guess I missed THE UTTERLY RACIST intro...where they are lambasting the EVIL STUPID WHITE MAN...like I am MOSTLY Caucasian (with a TOUCH of native), can you imagine substituting STUPID WHITE MAN with ANY OTHER ETHNICITY? Can you imagine how much complete hatred such a thing would garner? Yet because it is white people, evidently garbage like this is ok to do. In any event the game is low budget ULTRA TRASH, graphics look like something from last century. Gameplay is disjointed & SUCKS! I instantly uninstalled. If I had of BOUGHT THIS I would of INSANTLY also asked for a refund! Honestly, just listen to the intro yourself. There is ZERO place for racism in games, and this is other than even thinly veiled, it is BLATANT and right in your face! Games like this belong in the trash! Go invest in WORTHY FPS of which there are ZILLIONS of titles available to are both fun to play, and that avoid blaming an entire group for BS. I have ALWAYS been kind to EVERY ETHNICITY. I also expect the SAME in return...this title here just tries to dole out punishment to who-ever will listen...avoid it like the plague! Oh one last thing, the SCALING / fonts in this game are MADE FOR ANTS! Like I get it the dev is horrible at making games, yet at least realize that today's standard is 4K etc. So if you FAIL to even be able to provide a proper UI for such (and I have a 55" monitor so you can imagine what a laptop at 4k would be like) then maybe spend some time INVESTING in how to up your game as a dev. Pretty sure this is THE ONLY 1 star rating (and it deserves lower) I have ever given to any game on Gog. Yet I guess it had to happen eventually!
After reading all the reviews I was pretty sure I was going to have to work some simple magic to get this thing to boot properly. My Win10 64bit (I7) ran it right out of the box FLAWLESS in 4K. I have only played the tutorials and they were excellent. I normally dislike RTS yet I can tell this one is going to hook me in easily due to the TRIPLE A quality of the release. Add to the fact this is a Uplay/UBIsoft IP that you are now obtaining DRM FREE (almost like getting something from apple/microsoft in the same category as it is RARE) it is just a PURE CHERRY on the cake of this already fine game! Honestly there are like 5 more days this thing is on sale for like $3.50 Canadian...utterly TOTALLY recommended to add to your collection if you enjoy the genre even minorly! THIS IS A CLASSIC of strategy goodness IMO :)
Yet here is the dealio. I have about 45 years video gaming. Many of the SORE / complaining type reviews seem to be written with those of very low experience levels. This is an excellent FPS shooter with many things going for it. However there ARE design flaws such as has been mentioned, although how typical of little children to blow them far out of proportion. YES the demo for what it gives IS BETTER than the full game in some ways as they surely took the BEST from the game and showcased it there. So they do have another point with such observations, yet again blown far out of proportion as if they are little balls of energy that are either happy or sad all the time (children). The thing that I TOOK one full star off from this game for is the fact that as usual corporations treat GOG members like second rate gamers because we refuse to comply with all their big biz bs that they are so enamored over. Well remember when you treat DRM FREE fans like we are dirt because you are a filthy company that loves loot and has little love for people...THEN PEOPLE SUCH AS MYSELF ARE GOING TO DOG YOU OVER IT LIKE YOU 100% DESERVE FOR BEING SUCH A GREEDY POS TYPE MENTALITY! This company so far gets THAT FULL award for being dirty/greedy like that. In the same vein as say microsoft/apple, uplay, or any of the rest of the huge greedy corporations that essentially hate human beings to their own detriment/demise (as humans will be around long after corps are gone and obviously, we were here first also).
