HITMAN - Game of The Year Edition

Too much missing content

One of the best stealth games ever made but calling this version "game of the year" with all the content missing is just ridicoulous. Full price should be no more than 20€. Seems one needs to continue waiting, perhaps one day we will see a "complete edition".

Ghostrunner Demo

Frustration and constant restarts

Gameplay feels very monotonous. I keep doing the excact same things over and over again combined with frustration and constant restarts to get past an area. No thanks. Extra star for the good looking graphics and pumping soundtrack.

They Are Billions

Do you like building tents?

I was the fool for buying this before looking at the review mentioned earlier from https://youtu.be/zWwGukmPYGw . I regret playing it because now I cant get a refund. One star for having the mechanics of an RTS + the graphics are ok. After looking at gameplay videos of this I realised what it is all about. Once you completed the first campaign mission you can uninstall it because you won't really experience anything new. You just do the EXACT SAME THING over and over but with more powerful units. Very boring and repetitive. Play OpenRA instead.

JYDGE

Fun for a while

Fun for a while at the start but gets very repetetive and grindy towards the end. You need to earn medals to unlock new levels and the further you get in the game the more medals you need. This means re-playing the same old levels over and over again until you manage to complete the set challenge objectives. Not fun at all and gives that nasty "mobile phone game" feel to it. Character and weapon customisation is quite good with plenty of items, upgrades and combinations to test out. These are also unlocked with medals but on top of that you need to buy them with money you earn from missions. Again this also gets grindy to get since the upgrades are not cheap (but it is easily fixed with a memory editor like Squalr).

Project Warlock

FPS hit by the hype train

Seems the hype train reviews has hit this game hard. It's a decent FPS but nowhere near a masterpiece or the second coming of Doom/Wolfenstein in any way. Game controls very well but something is off with the framerate. It feels choppy like 30fps. Perhaps something that can be fixed in a future patch? Music is hit and miss, some good tracks and some dreadful ones that sound like they were created in techno creator. None of the music tracks loop seamlessly, instead they just awkwardly stop and repeat. Level design is very wolfenstein 3d labyrinth like and it might sometimes be frustrating to find where to go next. The RPG element is interesting and works well enough. All in all, it's an ok game but nothing spectacular.

8-bit Armies

Oversimplified C&C

Has a base for a good game in terms of the game engine but unfortuantely the developers decided to not utilise it. Gameplay is incredibly simple and repetitive and the tech tree is a joke. Winner is always decided by who is able to swarm the other players first. No tactics needed at all. I wonder if people comparing this to C&C has played any C&C game at all. Every game in that series is waaaay better than this. Go play openRA instead.

Worms United

The Best One

Simply the best Worms game ever released. None of that ugly cutesy artstyle they started using from Worms 2 and onwards, just raw beautiful pixelated goodness. Just like with Transport Tycoon Deluxe, Doom, C&C Red Alert etc.... this is a timeless classic that can be played over and over.

Rise of Industry

thin gameplay with messy menus

As other reviewers already stated, gameplay is thin and it is all buried in way too many menus, making it seem way more complex than it really is. It is just frustrating to play. I had higher hopes for this but it is still alpha and it might still turn into something great. The base of a good game is there (good music, nice graphics, controls well) it just needs more work and more meat on the bones. Considering Openttd is free, this game got an uphill battle to fight. Perhaps I see you again rise of industry, sometime in the future. I am keeping an eye on you.

STRAFE: Gold Edition

Not for the 90's purist

First off, is this game worth full price? Well, if you are looking for that pure 90's fast paced first person shooter then answer is No. Get brutal doom instead. On the other hand if you have grown up with autogenerating health and autoaim, this might good starting point to get the feel for what it was all about in the 90's. Fast paced action, quick reflexes and no mercy. The procedurally generated levels get tiresome quite fast. They are boring and nothing about them feels unique. I feel handcrafted and well thought out static levels would have been a better choice. Why not have both methods used even? In the end you start wondering if the developers were even born in the 90's. Bullet spread, really?
