This game is Empyrion - Galactic Survival.....but with more of an objective and more side things to do. It's good and all, but I just feel that there is something missing? Something not quite right. It might be the sameness of all the planets, or the animals or...I dont know. I just feel that there could have been more in it. Maybe less? There are these beacons and outposts that are scattered around the place. They act as load points for when you spawn back in to the game. I just feel that they should be something that you build your self with the resources that you gather, rather than have them there already...... meh, I will hold on to it I think. I am sure the devs will add more stuff to it as time goes by. But I really mean it when I say that it is a lot like Empyrion - Galactic Survival.
Great game. Not better than Bulder's Gate 1 or 2 but a great game none the less. Why? Well the game feels a little ...hollow I suppose. The story will not grab you as much as Icewind Dale 1 did (or BG2 for that matter) BUT, but, the game play is fan(bloody)tastic. The new rule set (v3 I think) is implemented well (for the most part) and there is a new spell selection screen, animations etc. Well worth getting if you enjoyed Icewind Dale 1. Just do not expect it to be as good as Bulder's Gate 2. By the way, I still have the cd for this game and I still play it. It is fun. Pure and simple :)
After playing Baldur's Gate 2 and its expansion, I moved on to this....and LOVED IT. It is Baldur's Gate (BG) without the fat. Now that "fat" is good fat, not the bad. No character interactions for the party, no party member specific quests. You are in complete control of the party you build from start to finish. Want a party of just warriors, go for it. Just mages? Yup. So if you liked BG then get this. It has the same game mechanics and play style.
From the story all the way to the characters and the world setting, this is the absolute best story out there. The Nameless One is your character, a floating skull is your friend (guide), who has a thing for dead chicks (understandable) and plenty more. One of the best stories out there. Get it, play it and enjoy it. Just get ready to start wondering where your days have gone once you buy it.
