X-Morph: Defense Complete Edition includes the the following DLC's:
- X-Morph: Defense - European Assault
- X-Morph: Defense - Survival Of The Fittest
- X-Morph: Defense - Last Bastion
- X-Morph: Defense - Soundtrack

Unique fusion of a top down shooter and tower defense strategy. You are the X-Morph - an alien species that invades Earth to harvest its resources and terraform the surface. Strategize in the build mode by carefully selecting various types of alien towers or throw yourself right into heat of the battle. Build mazes for incoming enemies in an environment that provides exceptional planning freedom. Tear down buildings and collapse bridges to support your defense or to simply indulge in a spectacle of unprecedented destruction. Possess a range of unique alien weapons and use defense strategies like you've never seen before in this genre.

Your goal is to defend the X-Morph harvesters from waves of incoming human forces. Each enemy wave is preceded by a setup phase in which the player can check what types of enemies are going to be attacking him and to observe their paths. There is no time limit for this phase, so the player can carefully plan his defenses or choose to start fighting immediately and place towers when needed during the battle. One of the game's key features is the ability to build towers virtually anywhere on the map and to shape enemy paths by connecting towers with laser fences. The player can choose between building long mazes out of basic towers or placing more advanced towers which are more effective at different types of incoming enemies. Advanced tower types specialize in dealing with specific enemy types e.g. flame towers are great for destroying fast moving ground units, artillery towers are best at countering large groups of slow enemies, anti air laser is ideal for shooting down heavy bombers.

As the X-Morph fighter you can engage enemy units directly with a diverse arsenal of weapons. You can morph into four distinct forms which specialize in dealing with different kinds of threats. Each form has a basic attack and a special charged attack mode. The Plasma Fighter is the most universal form - good at destroying both air and ground units. The Dark Matter Bomber is great at decimating groups of ground units. It can also slow down time and release a dark matter bomb that can cut down buildings. The Shredder fighter is perfect for annihilating large numbers of human air units and clearing the sky. Finally the Laser Destroyer is best for smelting large single units. It can also charge up a gravitational anomaly that sucks in smaller enemy units. A large variety of weapons and enemies along with a dynamic, fully destructible environment provides a rich arcade shooter experience.

The game's environments are constructed with a lot of attention to detail and they are almost completely destructible. From small picket fences to huge skyscrapers. Any bridge or building in the game can be collapsed and it's destruction is dynamically simulated using realistic physics. The destruction is not only a visual effect as it can significantly influence the layout of the battlefield. The combination of dynamic environments, laser fences and real time calculated enemy paths creates unique gameplay scenarios.

Humans are desperate to defend their home world. They have created huge, building size, mechanical war machines to fight against each other, but now they will use them to destroy the X-Morph. Each boss fight is unique and heavily influences the gameplay environment. Entire cities will be destroyed.

X-Morph: Defence includes a split screen co-op mode. All missions have different gameplay scenarios designed specifically for co-op play. Enemies attack in larger numbers and from new directions making good cooperation essential to winning. In this mode the game can be played in many different ways, one player can focus on optimizing tower placement while the other shoots at enemies or they can both focus their firepower on the strongest attackers.

X-Morph: Defense - European Assault

This add-on includes a new story-driven mini-campaign happening on the European front. The action takes place parallel to the main story campaign. It focuses on European military forces trying to repel the X-Morph invasion. Wreak havoc across Finland and Holland before concluding in an epic, destruction-fuelled showdown at the Eiffel Tower in France. European defense forces use new experimental weapons that force the X-Morph to adapt and improvise new defense tactics.

X-Morph: Defense - Survival Of The Fittest

This add-on includes a new Survival campaign with 5 maps specifically crafted for this adrenaline pumping game mode.
BRITAIN - Fight an endless enemy assault in a rain soaked maze of cottages and canals.
FINLAND - Winter is already here, but it's not the cold that is your worst enemy.
SOUTH AFRICA - A dense night is waiting to be lit up by countless enemy explosions.
NETHERLANDS - Survive as long as you can in this seemingly idyllic landscape.
FRANCE - A city labyrinth that is about to become a graveyard full of metallic corpses.

X-Morph: Defense - Last Bastion

This add-on includes a new story-driven mini-campaign which takes the players to the most remote locations in the world, where the last humans have taken refuge. The events take place on 4 islands, each with unique features. Chop down massive baobab trees in the Madagascar, slalom among the Moai on Easter Island, reshape the environment in sunny Indonesia and try not to melt in rivers of lava on Iceland. 4 new enemy types round up the package, ensuring that the X-Morph: Defense storyline gets the finale it deserves.

X-Morph: Defense - Soundtrack

X-Morph: Defense original soundtrack, created by Paweł Stelmach, featuring 21 compelling music tracks.

Herzog Zwei=GREATEST TOWER DEFENSE EVER!

Don't let the awful title deceive you, this is a visually spectacular combination of twin-stick shooter and tower defense that resembles the classic Sega Genesis RTS Herzog Zwei. You play an alien race that's like a cross between the borg and Michael Bay Decepticons (minus the fart jokes and product placement) invading and assimilating the Earth. You fly a transforming command ship whose job is to protect the assimilation core from ridiculously numerous columns of tanks, jetplanes, and battlemechs sent by the puny Earthlings trying to save their world. Gameplay is a combination of twin-stick shooting the enemies directly (protip: the right-click charge ability you start with blocks bullets from one side and hits way harder than your left-click rapid-fire pea shooter shot) and turning invisible to suck up scrap from dead enemies and turn it into defensive towers. This is a "shape the enemy's path" style of tower defense but way more granular than I've ever played before. You can cut off paths by creating free energy fences between two of your towers, or you can use a super bomb to topple a skyscraper with realistic physics. Towers come in many varieties, but you don't upgrade them and there's no "slow" tower, it's all about shaping the path to take as long as possible. Special mention must be made of the production values, the explosions and particle effects are glorious to behold, coupled with the fully destructible scenery, it really feels like you're bringing a kinetic war to the Earthlings. My only real complaint is how many missions it takes for the game to unlock all your tower types and give you your full strategic options, but that's a matter of personal taste. Whether you're looking for action, strategy, or puzzle, X-Morph: Defense is a wild ride and I recommend it!

Tower Defense Well-Worth Paying For

This game clearly wants you to have fun, and provides just enough challenge to do so (my experience on Normal difficulty). Everything feels very well polished. Graphically, mechanically, and in overall game design. This is not a low-effort, cash grab, genre game. Despite shovel-loads of free and cheap tower defense games on the Internet, I think X-Morph is a great value even at full price. X-Morph excels at constantly giving the player fun stuff to do, but in a streamlined way. I can't think of any "unfun" mechanics. Tower design phases last as long or end as quickly as you wish. You can freely modify your tower layout without penalty. You can likewise respec all your technology and upgrade points between missions. The active phase of each wave encourages directly dealing with problematic enemy units, collecting extra resources from destroyed enemy units, or reworking towers in response to changes. Sometimes all at once. I never felt bored during the active phases. Each of the roughly two dozen maps feels distinct. I never had a "Oh, look. Yet another city area" moment. Whether visually, mechanically, or otherwise, levels are different enough they never felt rehashed. Many times, the map area is gradually revealed after each wave, so that even six waves in the same spot generally avoids becoming stale. The occasional side objectives and boss fights round things out. The bosses have all felt interesting, unique, and appropriately challenging (Normal difficulty). Bosses are where the shooter mechanics really shine. Towers remain valuable, but in different ways each time. The DLC included in this purchase feels genuinely good. It's one of the few cases where "more of the same" is a compliment. More, varied levels. More new units and mechanics. More new bosses. Nothing felt phoned in. The game automatically saves between waves. This makes it easy to put the game down for a while, or to adjust your tower maze if you weren't satisfied with its performance.

It was fun, but gets old very fast

It is a cool top down shooter with defense tower game play. However, the upgrades are very limited and the variety of enemies are few. Because your upgrades are customizable before each mission, you can switch up your tech trees and basically experience them all within the beginning 1/3-1/2 of the game. The DLCs do add more variety but the boss battles are recycled with exception of only one in the Paris level. The last Bastion just had the same boss battle in the main campaign but just upped the numbers. I beat them all on Brutal including all story DLCs and I can tell some of the missions are extremely difficult, but once you get over the hump, you can basically spam one type of tower without having to worry about drawing the paths of the incoming enemies. Overall, it was a okay to fun game, but don't expect too much. The CO-OP it features is only offline here and splitscreen on the same computer. I was looking forward to some online game play but it doesn't have it. Lastly, it lacks the level editor that the steam version has.

A Solid Game

Is this revolutionary and mind-blowing like WC1 back in the day? No. Is this the best of its genre? Can't say for sure but I guess not. However, it is, to me, a golden example of how a finished game looks like: the devs had a clear vision of what they wanted, they plotted the course there, and executed it carefully. I didn't encounter any bugs, graphics are clean and efficient, the ship handles smoothly, the towers have clear roles and perform them well, and as a whole, the game is as intuitive as can be. I'll give 2 examples. When you use your warp bomb (which summons an explosion in the target location) to collapse a building, the physics makes sense, allowing you to guide a tall building's fall, which in turn cuts of an attack route without having to invest resources into it. In the Last Bastion, you'll encounter a shield generator tank that creates a bubble protecting nearby units. Since it blocks all projectiles, I thought: wouldn't the above mentioned warp bomb work? In a regular game, I wouldn't expect it to because devs tend to like their mechanics, but here it worked, because logically, a projectile-blocking shield can't do diddly squat about anything that teleports behind the shield. Like the title says: it's a solid game that is definitely worth playing if you enjoy a tower defense and shooter combo. Game gets bonus points for essentially being the Scrin campaign in C&C3 if you had a proper invasion force rather than a mining fleet with some security.

Switch Version Review

This is a hidden gem that more people need to play. It runs incredibly well on the switch and is super fun too. looks stunning, has a good amount of depth. a great amount of content, an awesome soundtrack, the destruction is not only visually amazing, but is also satisfying to watch massive buildings collapse and destroy enemy forces. Worth every dollar I spent. BUY IT. PS: The DLC is also really good too.
