Engage in an epic conflict alongside your teammates. Missions include both solo and team-based gameplay and range from creating all-out mayhem to stealth infiltration.
Vaporize your opponents in fast-paced multiplayer games such as deathmatch-style Holomatch, Disentegration, Capture the Flag, Action Hero and many more.
Fire at will with over a dozen advanced weapons including the Tetryon Gatling Gun, Advanced Grenade Launcher and Assault Rifle. All weapons feature a secondary firing mode.
Put so much time into the game but it becomes unplayable by the Hull mission. You need to lower all your settings and keep spamming the esc button to allow yourslef to lower in the low gravity environment. Then you have to shoot bullseye targets on a capital ship but the hits don't register, it just keeps hitting the shields until the ship blows up. All that time just to not be able to progress in my story.
Coming from EF 1, I found this game to be a little bit of a mixed bag. Despite coming from a different development studio, they still managed to capture the look, sound and feel of the Star Trek universe very well. My Immersion was also greatly improved as their new game engine can provide convincing lighting effects and shadows even today; an area were EF 1 was lacking. It also worked much better as a FPS for me, with tighter and precise controls, and the level design was also of a higher and more consistent quality. Was also nice to see more enemy variety and boss fights with at least a little bit of strategy; their AI seemed a little buggy though. Weapons felt alright and I liked the new tricorder and its interaction with various environmental hazards.
Some objectives were too easy to miss and get right on the first try, like "find that tiny unmarked panel on the dark wall in 10 seconds or we all die" or random difficulty spikes. I also lamented the removal of the optical zoom function of my old hazard suit and the ability to lean around corners AND shoot. Overall, still a much improved FPS experience.
Were it felt like a downgrade from EF 1 was the plot, dialogue and character development. Voyager's story could very well have been an episode on the show, but here I really struggled to suspend my disbelief. Peaceful (or so we're told) and powerless vassal state turned crazy-prepared supervillain suddenly has the means and knowledge to cripple key Federation assets during a chance encounter? Gimme a break. Such an operation would take months of meticulous planning especially after the Dominion War. And their motivation? Unconvincing.
Team mates might as well not exist as do-everything Munro ends up going on solo missions 90% of the time. Thus hard to bound with new characters. Conversations also felt a lot stiffer and less natural than EF 1, and some VA were quite cheesy.
My overall conclusion: better executed FPS, but worse Star Trek experience.
The first Elite Force is the superior game. This one is a bit less immersive when the only characters from the TV series appearing are Picard and Tuvok. There's a few unintentionally funny cutscenes, including when the Enterprise is warping into a dangerous scenario and there's only 2 or 3 officers on the bridge with all the other chairs empty. There are some moments when characters repeat the same line in different scenes. The Hazard Team is also under-utilised compared with the first game. But overall the story is fairly engaging and well-paced.
The graphics hold up very well for a 20 year-old game and the gameplay is generally very good. The weapons are interesting and varied. There is enough enemy variety to keep it interesting. There are a few sections where the difficulty spikes and it can feel unfair, though I did manage to beat the game without having to reload earlier checkpoints than where I was up to. I can understand why some people don't like the tricorder puzzles, but I don't think there are too many of them and they add some variety.
I would recommend Elite Force 2 to anyone who liked the first Elite Force, you'll get roughly the same enjoyment out of this one.
I enjoy the graphics and the weapons. First rate!
Movent is the same. Standard WSAD and I love the story line.
My only beef is that there are just too many tricorder puzzles and the timed ones are the worst!
I wish we could skip most of the puzzles, it interrupts the flow of the game.
