Great game

I've played FTL for quite awhile, I've tried many different builds with many different luck variables and I can say with authority that beating the last boss is impossible, don't even bother. It's a little known fact that you aren't actually meant to win, you just keep replaying forever, picking a new ship, assembling a superstar crew and growing attached to them and welling with pride when their skills or race unlock the "blue option" to solve problems, then watching them and their hopes and dreams get reduced to bits floating in open space, splattered against shredded metal and that crappy gun I forgot to sell at the last trade station. It doesn't matter how well you're doing, how prepared you are, fighting the rebel flagship is like a toddler throwing mashed peas at the Terminator, you're going to die and restart and die ad nauseam like you're manning a Star Trek voyage consisting exclusively of red shirts, you're in limbo, this is your life. I love it

Refreshing indie game

When I first saw footage of this indie game I thought it looked dated but the gameplay is much more complex than the visuals make it out to be. I enjoy becoming addicted to this during the christmas break. Dont make the same rookie mistakes I made first time and run out of fuel.

This game has so many great elements that I think help make it a 5 star game. Some of this game is tactics that the gamer controls, the rest is up to chance... which is why I think so many board games have had a success. PROS: Variety of species to play. Choice of spaceship type. Random maps. Excellent choice of weapons and add-on's. CONS: During combat you can not save and exit. Need more time to acquire "scrap" (in-game currency) to spend on ship upgrades. At times the weapon in slot one is unable to "power-down" and is in a constant on status. When hovering over certain texts, the hover over state text box overlays other texts which can be a bit annoying. Certain text on the star maps will blend into the graphics used to represent the galaxie(s), another slight annoyance. FINAL VERDICT: Although this game has a few quirks that I personally find annoying, this is a stellar game (no pun intended). I rate it a 92%. The dev's should come up with an IOS version of this for touch pads as this game would qualify for a touch screen friendly app.

Easy to get into, hard to put down

Title pretty much says it all. I always say "I'll play a couple sectors then turn it off" and I end up playing until I win or die. I love this game and the soundtrack is very good as well.
