An Evil game

You will just want to play again and again and the game will treat you like its bitch, but you can't do anything about it. You will get better and better and the game will punish you for it and you will want more. You might manage to stay away from it for a while, but its call will echo inside your mind "FTL! FTL! FTL!", you will be back. What is it? You choose one of the several unlockable space crafts, you see them from top and inside. Each room, each major and minor system, and your crew of aliens, humans and drones. You give orders in real time, or paused, after every jump you make to another solar system. You might have a very short (couple of choices) text adventure, or you might have a battle against aliens. You fight, you win some, you run away from some and you die once, sooner or later. The game is both far from perfect but also so well done that you feel the need to play it every so often, even if you dislike it. Is it winnable? Yes, I have won several times on both difficulty settings, but you will bleed, you will sweat and you will curse for every single time you manage to win. Buy this game.

Awesome experience!

I never play roughlike genre before. This is the first time, and it causes me an epic death to my crews, no missiles, low hull, fire all over the places, 3 guys + 1 chick RIP in nebula galaxy. Decisions and decisions are coming in every steps. I never enjoy permanent death like this one before, this should improve my cut through decision making and try to do it better in a next try. Honestly I think that the event popping up will not be varying enough, but I'm wrong. Not only about facing with enemy ships but other kind of events that drag you down to earth if you made a wrong decision or you're just too kind with no luck at all. My case is that I lost my "Cpt Haxpor" at the first event popping up, and left alone his "Ast Ksia" to control the whole ship. .... You know, I mean to play with that role, myself in the ship, but it's gone with the frist step. Just buy this game.

Great pastime

A simple FTL game can take 5 minutes - or hours. Dependes on your luck and skill. A bit difficult to understand in the beginning, but once you get used to the mechanics, you'll have big fun. Worths your money!

A game, to start right away

You can play Faster Than Light without digging in manuals or wikis. There's a short tutorial, but then off you go. Exploring the world, learning from mistakes and trying different approaches is an essential part of the game. You'll start over a lot and after some experience you'll be able to win one journey in 3 hours. That being said, you see, that it's easy playing in the evening and also easy to stop and take a break after each encounter (which takes several minutes), which makes it attractive to everybody who's just seeking a little diversion. If you've got more time, then you can collect all in-game achievements, unlock every ship and subtype (and win). All in all, I had a good time playing this, although the game can become a little repetitive after you've got the hang of it and want to unlock everything (e.g. destroying 1000 enemy ships). Clear recommendation, if you like roguelike games. Don't buy it, if you want polished visuals, cutscenes and a deep story - it's not there.

What a thrill!

Okay, I have no clue what "Rogue-like-like" means... not in the slightest. But I've just gone through the nicely presented (and nicely paced, yet brief) tutorial and have now embarked on a dangerous mission - I cannot give details... it's in my contract as Captain. But I can tell you that I have saved several ships in distress, taught a bully ship a lesson, acquired some useful parts and supplies, freed a slave and welcomed him to my crew, and am still remaining ahead of the threat that is bent on my destruction! I love how this game plays... if this is what 'Rogue-Like' resembles, perhaps I should look more into these sorts of games. Nonetheless, FTL is a delight to play. I have really come to 'know' each f my starting crew, and given them specific duties - thought they can and will multitask when needed. Great crew, great ship.. Super Game! There are many expansion mods made by the community and, from what I've seen, it's fairly simple to make them to add - should you want to give more players - and yourself - more and more expandability and fun as you live amongst the stars on a real purpose of great importance to mankind!
