Honestly amazing CRPG

I've finished main game and all side quests in 80 hours and game is amazing - never encountered any bugs except for Heinrix leaving me, but i did not like him anyway - i guess he wanted to chat earlier. Great game, amazing synergies, love story, companions and overall amazing playthrough and replayability - I can greatly recommend and well, if anyones intrested of my playthrough https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og6khpneDQ8&t=3717s

Good old Warhammer 40k

A classic warhammer 40k game! The gameplay feels a lot like a fusion on Dragon Age Origins and Fallout 2. You can make some broken and satisfying build combos, although the skills list might seem a little too much overwhelming at first. Still, I can refer to the classic WH40k wargame and quest board games and roleplay a lot of characters from the lore. I enjoy the story quite a lot. Those little lore tips in the dialogues are a nice touch. Surprisingly the first game where I'm reading the dialogues instead of skipping them. The character stories are nicely written. I think its a very good decision to tell the story from the point of view of a Rogue Trader, who is a lot less bound by the imperial doctrines, which adds a lot of colors to the story. I like the graphics. There weren't any patches that screw up the entire installation so far, like BG3 had. Load times after reloading the game could be improved though. Surprisingly, I haven't found any serious bugs yet after playing the game for a month or so. Overall, this is the long awaited good WH40k RPG game. I'm looking forward to seeing new content for it and recommend it to everyone, who likes RPGs and Warhammer.

Poor and dated gameplay; okay writing

The fighting, questing and character management of this game is simply dated, hostile, bugged and unfun. Some of it I assume is due to the use of rogue trader pen and paper rules (I don't know to what extent they were adapted, but clearly not enough, or not well enough). An on top of this poor animations, strange fade to black, choppy user experience, and the result is a struggle to get from next story development to the next. I cannot commend the lore accurate 3D modelling, because of its low quality and cartoonish style. It feels strangely gaudy and blurry, while also frying my 7800XTX, somehow. You don't have to apply raytracing, have hyper-realistic models and a enormous budget to look good. Just proper art direction. The first two generations of Dawn of War are a good example of combining a clean, cohesive, pleasing W40K 3D environment and models. Bugs are forgivable, though some will lock you out of important quests and force you to reload. (I lost 4hours, my bad for not noticing I was soft-locked). The roleplay and storytelling aspect is thankfully satisfactory and this game's only redeeming quality. W40K is known for its plethora of sloppy to trashy games, and I assume GW is a factor that tendency. But also, knowing the studio, I was kinda expecting this very dubious result.

Fun 40k game

I really loved the setting -- it does look like 40k. Story is good yet a bit predictable. Companions are good as well and fortunately there weren't the companions that I wanted to throw out of the airlock (unlike ones in some of Mass Effect games or Baldur's Gate 3). Tactical combat is fun as well. However there were some things I did not really liked: 1) Not all lines are voiced and it is not some sort of unknown NPC in some sidequest but actually main characters on main quest. Not a biggie but really? 2) OST is kinda hit and miss. In a last 2 chapters I turned off the game's OST and used the music from "40k: Dawn of War" and "40k Mechanicus". 3) Too many load screens: for example you travel through warp, load screen, companion approaches you and says that "we need to talk in private", load screen, small conversation with companion, load screen, sector map. Overall it is a good game with some minor issues.

Great Warhammer 40K Role Playing Game

A great game with tens of hours of content, a well written and engrossing story, some great voice acting and a pleasure to play. The game is very well put together, with lots of different options available. The turn based combat works well, as does the companions you can recruit. Despite the large amount of content, I only noticed a few bugs, all of which could be overcome with a little trial and error. I am certainly looking forward to the season pass content once it comes out.
