Kane and Lynch: Dead Men™

Kane and Lynch is such a weird game, It's not fun, but it's so interesting that I had to finish it. Gameplay wise it is a sequel to freedom fighter. the squad mechanics are there but it legs dept. The guns sound powerful and they hurts powerful but the animation when you hit the enemy feels weak. The game does have very nice destruction mechanics so it feels satisfying when you leave a combat area. The game sound good. it has powerful effects that makes it so I don't want to listen to anything in the background and the constant dialogue, keeps thing interesting and the music is good. The UI is so clean, it doesn't want to obscure the image, so much of the game the only UI, is a single dot on the screen. The characters and story is so weird to me. It feels like a really unlikable crime movie,which I can get behind. It's remind me of the Danish gangster film Pusher, where the main character is just desperately clinging for straws to keep him above water and he has to betray every person, and all the trust he has built. the voice acting is so good it really hits that crime film vibe. Especially kane's voice actor, I love him and I l his also performances as BJ blazkowicz. I did find the game entertaining but there is a drastic drop, when you stop being in cities and begin being in South America. it is insane how tedias and bad it becomes kane and lynch is so ambitious, but it feels like there has been much cut off it. it's just not fun to play The Story is interesting but it also dies half way through and becomes horrible and the ending is complete garbage. But it is an interesting little title and would absolutely recommend if you are into interesting bad game.

This game is bad in some many ways. The game is a 3rd person shooter very linear and that's okay, the problem is how bad the gunplay is. Shooting a gun, which is the only thing you got to do in the game, feel horrible. The bullets go where ever they want except where they suppose to. The few occasions in which they land where you are aiming it feels like you are shooting feathers instead of bullets, because of the little damage they do. The AI of your teammates is horrible too. You can give them orders but most of the time they just ignore them and end up right in front of the enemies just to get killed. And when they don't they just stay there without killing or shooting a single enemies (There were some occasions in which they didn't shoot enemies that were right in front of them) The story is also a mess. You are introduced to a lot of charactes that are related to you in some way but you don't know what is your realtion with them. Making all the interactions feel like this game might be a sequel for other game you didn't play. But no, it is not. These were not only one of those few game I wasn't able to finish because of how bad it was, but also one that made me ask for a refund.

First of all, i'm glad this game can finally be purshased legally and DRM-Free no less. [Actual Review] Really interesting game, not the best by any mean or capacity but interesting enough to keep you hooked through it's story. It's a well made movie-like experience with a great variety of locations and scenarios. The atmosphere feels opressive and dark at times. The Japan levels were the best in my opinion. Something strange I recalled is that the characters just go from one side of the world for another in a matter of just seconds? it helps to keep the pace of the game but come on, it feels kind of lazy. Both protagonist make a good couple, one being sane and the other being a psycho. One is selfish, the other one is loyal and so one. The best of both worlds and it works Both are deeply flawed on their own way. Why is just "Decent" then? Well, the gameplay cannot be more tedious for a shooter. The cover mechanic is not associated to a specific button for some ungodly reason and it's just does it by itself when you are close to a wall. The shooting itself feels janky to say the least, the bullets spread like crazy and you don't much options for a more precise weapon such as a rifle or sniper through the game. Sprinting is non-existential, it last less than 5 seconds if you are lucky and the sprint isn't like a huge difference from walking either. The Team mechanic is a mixed-bag it can serve on some specific ocassions but most of the time you ended up killing yout target before your team does most of the time. Most of the unique mechanics to this game don't flesh out that much really through the journey. Stealth is close to non-existent, specially in the Jungle levels when there is an incentive to use it. You will ending up shooting everyone without consecuence anyways. Conclusions: Interesting game, but it's not much of a fun ride, but it doesn't need to be it either. And by the end, you will ended up empty.

Bien qu'au premier abord le jeu semble beau, il n'en n'est rien. Les textures sont vraiment passables certaines même sont hideuses. Les environnements sont variés et on a une petite destruction du décor. Le fait que nos héros changent de costumes à plusieurs reprises est une idée bienvenue. Mais mon œil aiguisé a remarqué une incohérence : à un moment, nous sommes déguisés en des sortes de laveurs de vitres, j'ai remarqué que notre cher Kane n'avait plus son pansement sur le nez puis niveau suivant : c'est son grand retour. La musique... Bah y'en pas ? Ou presque pas ? Tout est tristement silencieux. Il arrive à plusieurs reprises que les personnages parlent sans émettre le moindre son alors qu'on a les sous-titres avec leurs répliques. Certains évènements comme la pluie ou des coups ne produisent aucun son. Nous avons là un très gros problème ! Est-ce que cela vient de moi ? J'accorde le bénéfice du doute. La VF est de bonne qualité. Les héros ont des voix particulièrement bien choisies ! L'histoire bien que clichée est sympathique à suivre grâce à ses anti-héros. Kane et Lynch ont un certain charisme. Les développeurs semblent fiers de leur "rappel" puisqu'on fait cette action plusieurs fois. Je vois pas l'intérêt ? Mention à la discothèque bien que les PNJ soient tous des clones, c'est plutôt impressionnant de voir autant de monde. L'IA est stupide, l'ennemi peut devenir soudainement aveugle ou totalement enragé et vous foncer dessus. J'ai aussi eu un bug : ce brave Lynch a décidé de rester planter là, sans rien faire à attendre la mort qui ne vient pas puisque les snipers dans ce jeu se concentrent uniquement sur le joueur. Kane and Lynch : Dead Men est un jeu qui oscille entre le moyen et le plutôt bon. Je pense qu'un peu plus de travail pour notamment supprimé des glitchs vraiment énervants et se pencher sur l'IA n'aurait pas été du luxe. Je conseille quand même ce jeu, il est extrêmement court et reste plaisant.

This is a game I keep going back to again and again. It maybe a bit rough around the edges but that adds to the charm. The story is engagging and makes you care from begining to end, a nice varity of firearms and music by Jesper Kyd which is always a good sign. It may be short but if you have a co-op buddy (it's local, no online which is crap.) it is a great game of the late 2000's. If you dig the story, read the Kane & Lynch comic, that is the true sequel.
