Glimmers of what could have been.
I played the 2nd game when it came out and it was okay I really like the getaway/robbery side game. I wasn't sure what to expect in this game, I walked away over all dissatisfied. I am not sure but it seems like there should have been another mode of play given there is a "drop money" and "view score" key bindings but never seems to show up in game play. Game is kinda rough, the main character "Kane" is a horrible, talks to everyone like they're garbage. The story is disjointed and plays out like scenes from a movie, very scripted, don't even bother trying to explore anything, A.I is terrible on both sides there could have been a great squad tactical shooter here but instead you end up ding 90% of the work even when giving your men orders to kill a specific target. It's not all bad though there are a few spots in the game where the shoot outs are well done. I feel like this game had so much potential that was unrealized. You can't skip most cut scenes, I musta watched the one near the end (without spoiling) a dozen times before giving up and asking google how to get past that part of the game. it's a rather short game so like it or hate it you'll not be here long. A lot of the story is just left hanging, your team, Lynch .. so much unanswered. There are 2 endings and I was unsatisfied with both of them. Replay value is pretty low you might play a few of your favorite levels again but not something you'll be coming back to again and again. It's not a bad game but could have been so much more, I don't know if it was time or just poor design choices but it's a real shame it didn't live up to it's potential. PS, I played on win10 and had stuttering freezing issues, look for a fix using a dx8input wrapper dll. It's also mentioned in the gog forum.. shame gog does not have this fix already applied.
