A great adventure game with a twist or 2

I've followed scriptwelder and his excellent Don't Escape series for a while before purchasing Don't Escape 4 and I am happy to say it lived up to the excellent pedigree of it's predecessors and then some. The point and click gameplay will be familiar to anyone who’s played an adventure game before, but it offers several additions to the tried and true formula that serve to enhance the experience a great deal. • The time management mechanics add a sense of weight and consequence to your decisions, rewarding thought and forward planning rather than random clicking. • A clearly defined central goal for each day (survive!) helps to contextualize the puzzles and cut down on frustrating “adventure game logic.” • The story is immersive and well paced with some beautiful visual storytelling via the game’s fantastic pixel art. • Plenty of engaging puzzles. • A lot more replayability than I was expecting. In conclusion, this game is well worth your time and your money if you are in any way interested in adventure games.

Very, very pleasant surprise

I haven't played adventures like these for many years. The fallout-like environment seemed interesting enough, and I wasn't expecting much. But the game sucked me right in. I cannot praise the music and sound effects enough, they add a lot of atmosphere. Despite the pixelated look, there is a lot of attention to detail, like character shadows, or sound effects depending on the ground a character is walking on. Since I have been out of this genre for so long, I was afraid of puzzles thrown at me, held together by bits and pieces of story. Instead, I got the opposite - experiencing a dramatic story with puzzles that all made sense. For several days, this game got me hooked. I just finished my first playthrough, which was probably about 15, maybe 20 hours. I often was proud of surviving yet another day but I am not happy with the ending. I've heard that it has to be replayed which I will definitely do in the future. I really enjoyed it. I have never been stuck anywhere for long. haven't had that much fun with a video game for quite some time.

Awesome

If you aren't sure about this game the people who made it put out several flash games with a similar premise, don't escape 1 - 3 and they'll give you a great gameplay demo. This game itself is exactly what I would want to see out of a flash game turned into a full fledged release on Steam and GOG, takes what was awesome about the gameplay of the first three games but gives it more depth, adds on a story to make you care. There is even a semi-random element to enhance replayability or to make it that much funner watching your fiends play through it. There's four chapters, and on your first play through each chapter might take 90 minutes or so.

Amazing game

This game is a must buy for anyone who likes point and click games, or who have played don't escape, or deep sleep series before. It would be nice if Deep Sleep Trilogy and Don't Escape Trilogy were released not only on steam, but also on gog.

Unique

I hate games with point 'n click mechanism, but this one is different - I love the dawn mechanism where I need to secure my camp against difficulties, I love how I need to combine items and I love the strange story which come with this game. I hope there'll be sequel one day
