● Des décors à couper le souffle servis par une bande son envoûtante
I just finished the main questline - and I enjoyed this game even more than the first part "Plague Tale Innocence".
It is the same game like Innocence, just better graphics, more epic places to explore and a longer story.
I was shocked by the story ending.
A Plague Tale Requiem I believe improves upon its prequel, Innocence in every way. The gameplay, stealth and combat is more brutal, fun, and tactical than in Innocence. The graphics is nothing short of mind-blowing and will bring any hardware today to its knees. The visuals are absolutely spectacular and the lip/audio-sync annoyance I noticed in Innocence is no longer present in Requiem.
IMPORTANT: if you experience microstuttering and have a G-Sync Monitor, disable G-Sync for this game specifically in your GPU control panel. This eliminated microstuttering for me.
Requiem has an amazing soundtrack and I find myself waiting to load my game until the main theme finishes in the main menu. All the tracks in this soundtrack are emotional, impactful tunes that really sets the scene for the entire game.
As I said at the beginning, the gameplay here is a major improvement. There's more meaningful character progression with the new skills/perks to unlock. There are more weapons and gadgets to play with in Requiem and combat encounters are more tense and chaotic. I'll also never get tired of running away from tsunamis of rats. It's both horrifying and funny at the same time.
Requiem's character lineup are all interesting individuals. I really enjoyed getting to know them and their motives for tagging along with Amicia and Hugo. Speaking of which, Amicia and Hugo's chemistry improves big-time from Innocence and their familial bond almost brought a tear to my eye.
Just remember that Requiem is a story about a fictional spin on the Black Death Epidemic. It's obviously not a happy story and don't expect sunshine and rainbows and you won't be disappointed.
I absolutely adored the 20+ hour adventure that is A Plague Tale Requiem. I highly, wholeheartedly recommend it!
Disclaimer, a) i did not finish yet. I am at Chapter 11 b) i play on normal
This game is getting many things right. You are captivated by the sheer beauty of the game.
I think it is nice that you can skip any of the animation scenes but even then, they are pretty great.
The story is, in my opinion, really good as it captures the dilemma of the struggle between saving and confrontation in reality.
I found most puzzles solvable though some are harder. Depending on your brain i suppose.
Another great feature is, even if you die, you start where you died more or less.
So the game itself is engaging and it is quite frankly never really boring.
It is a long game but ever environment where i went, things were to explore, challenges to overcome and rewarding.
I am pretty bad in stealth, so i fight a lot. Perhaps you can overcome everything in stealth? I am not sure.
To me, the game is well worth spending the money on. Especially for the beautiful graphics and the characters. You really feel for them as they go through all these challenges on their way to seek the answers.
So i can really recommend the game, an adventure game that takes you on a great exploration.
If you have musophobia, it may not be the game for you. Otherwise it may is.
Mostly it is also bug free. I had one instance where character Sophia was gone during a puzzle. Nowhere to be seen but saying, i am busy now. Perhaps a glitch.
Personally, i recommend to play both games since they are connected story wise but are playable with out one another.
I think this one is a little harder than the first game in my experience but solvable even if you aren't a great gamer.
Hope this helps.
The graphics, detail and audio are excellent. However, there are several elements that break the immersion and suspension of disbelief for me.
1. Amicia constantly rages about the soldiers, how they deserve to die, are evil bastards, etc., but then the next mopment she clutches her pearls and won't pick up a sword, axe, or spear to stab them. In a capricious twist, knives are fine, but can only be used once. WTF?
2. In the first Plague Tale, Hugo learns to control the rats and gains the ability to control them so expertly as to take out the game's arch villains. Then we are expected to believe he suddenly loses that ability and returns to random emotional outbursts that wipes out whole cities with rats? Not only that, but the rats even attack Amicia who Hugo loves and used the rats to protect in the first game.
3. If a possessed or infected monster was continually wiping out thousands of people (even if accidental), you can't expect us to believe no one would put an arrow in him in a hot second. Even Amicia would at some point out of mercy for Hugo and compassion for the public.
4. Clunky, almost QT style events that don't feel fluid. Amicia moves awkwardly and your actual ability to use the controls don't have much bearing.
5. Childish storyline with tons of holes and things that aren't believable.
A. Lengthy quest to find the Order Master Alchemist who Amicia thinks will solve everything, but 2 minutes later she hates him and wants to change plans again.
B. After wiping out tons of soldiers in the first game, Amicia is suddenly squeamish, then kills a few, then promises Lucas she won't, then gets his permnission again a few minutes later. WTF? Who wrote this and expects the audience to accept it?
C. The game expect us to do things a specific way when there are much easier methods clearly visible right in front of us.
Overall, the game appears to be written for children with no reasoning, skepticism, or common sense.
I remember playing the first game many years ago now. Although I've changed immeasurably these past years, I'm glad to see A Plague Tale has not.
Here still stands a testament to burning, righteous anger and unflinching desire carried on by the will to see the one you love protected regardless of the lives it may cost.
This game is absolutely beautiful, with a stunning, gripping selection of characters and accompanying voice actors to bring them to life. The cut scenes are highly immersive; you may be jarred back into action when the cut scene suddenly changes to gameplay once more as if you were watching a movie that suddenly transformed into a video game. The haunting, intense soundtrack permeates the outskirts of the story unfolding before you: a highly dramatic, continuously depressing and stressful narrative.
There is no peace. There is only the hope of peace, and that hope is crushed over and over again until it's nearly impossible to conjure how anyone in the world could still harbor it.
Yes, A Plague Tale is not open world like every other game of this generation is attempting to do. Here you will find linearity and a story-driven medium that sticks to its own formula. The gameplay can sometimes become repetitive, the puzzles are not incredibly fun, and the rats pissed me off more than once. But still, I played on to beat the game. And these days, I rarely finish them.
Because what kept me coming back was wanting to see how this story of Hugo and Amicia unfolded. What kept me coming back was the intensity: seeing a human go to the extremes of vindinctive violence and even sadism when pushed too far for too long. In the heat of this chaos, there is no time to take a universal perspective; there is only you and the people you care about and the people who are trying to destroy you. Sacrifices are made and irreversible scars were obtained, but A Plague Tale had its characters hold their ground to the bitter end regardless of the cost.
5/5.
