First impressions are excellent

Awesome fallow up to A Plague Tale: Innocence This game is a story driven single player experience. It takes place in medieval France during bubonic plague pandemic, known as the Black Death If you have never heard about this game then I suggest that you play A Plague Tale: Innocence first before getting this game. If you have already played original game, then I think that you will like this sequel. I just started playing the game and first impressions are excellent. Right of the bat you will notice how much graphics are improved over the original game. It is a substantial, next gen difference. Cast of the game seems to have done excellent job with voiceovers and I also should mention excellen music in the game. I should mention that this game is more gruesome than original one because it only took me 10 minutes to come across a character that had split a head of some poor soul with an axe ! Gameplay is similar to the original game, so you won’t need much time to learn game mechanics. I cannot wait to play this game more and discover the story of A Plague Tale Requiem Big thanks to Asobo Studio and Focus Entertainment for releasing the game on GOG.

Masterpiece !

The sequel to Innocence arrived and damn...it was worth the wait. The game is a masterpiece. The story is so good, so intriguing. I was on the edge of my seat almost all the time. The gameplay mechanics are awesome, well-made update from Innocence. I liked the fact they made Amicia more badass and a little more brutal. That crossbow is a jam. The characters : I love them. I think everyone does. The music...wow...I can't describe it. The composer put so much into it. Congrats to him and his team. They made a fantastic job. I am going to buy the soundtrack. The deluxe version of it which is about...6-7 hours of Requiem music ? Hell yeah, I am digging it. A Plague Tale : Requiem is a cool sequel, so much cooler than the first one in my opinion. It was worth the wait. Can't wait to see what's next for the franchise.

Impressive visuals, muddled storytelling

I enjoyed 3/4s of Plague Tale: Innocence, right before the story flew off the rails and landed straight into anime territory for some bizarre reason. Requiem doesn't have this problem, but the overall story and character development did make me raise my eyebrow a number of times. Without spoiling much, the way Amicia rationalizes her actions throughout the game is questionable at best, and psychopathic at worst. And since the game is completely linear, we are forced to enact her obsessive behavior even when it's clearly immoral or delusional. Another issue is the overabundance of rats. In the first game they were filthy, scary, and slowly spreading everywhere, but here there are literal oceans of them right from the start so their dramatic impact is greatly diminished. The gameplay is almost identical to that of the first game with some extra tools and segments thrown in for variety. It's serviceable, if not particularly inspired, but it's clear that the devs were concerned with delivering an affecting story, not a "fun" experience. Presentation is stellar, voice performances are excellent, and music is once again memorable and haunting. Requiem is a solid yet flawed story-driven experience that fans of the first game will most likely enjoy (term is used loosely here, since the game is intentionally oppressive and miserable). It's a 3.5/5 game but I will round it up to reward the devs' ambition.

A story you will remember..

POSITIVES: - The story is a masterpiece. It’s got lots of twists and, at times, it is very touching. Once you complete the game, you will be blown away by the story. It is magnificent! - The game is all around the story, which keeps you immersed. - Visually speaking, it is an incredibly beautiful game! - The voices are excellent and help you get to know the characters and their feelings very well. The voice actors really got into their roles. - The control is easy and intuitive. - You cannot miss any achievements. WHAT COULD BE BETTER: - The game is VERY linear. You literally cannot go anywhere other than the designed areas. And you cannot do anything else outside of the story mode. - The puzzles are super easy. And if you are stuck, one of the characters will tell you what to do. - The music is very atmospheric but forgettable. - Probably not a game you would place twice. In a way, this game is a bit like a film – watching it and, at the same time, participating in it in a certain way. The story is something you will remember for a VERY long time, and that is why I’d recommend playing the game.

Impressive

I loved the 1st one and love this one too. Graphics and sound are top notch! Gameplay also very good. For me the 1st one was more scary than this but ok. Playing it on a gtx 1080 in high settings and the card sweats a lot. :))
