I had sent in a ticket and GOG.com did reply. Tropico 5 is not listed as windows 10 compatible.(I had checked before I sent the ticket and it had been listed as windows 10 compatible)

marcellinog: Same problem. Yeah it works with no sound but the music is nice... this is a shame!
GOG, FIX IT!
Gog can't fix it. Either Microsoft has to patch its audio routine or Kalipso has to completely recompile the game files with a different audio setup.
The Steam Version offer a Update for Amd Graka, it runs fine under Win 10.

I have NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Graka, and it doesn't work because of a sound bug.

Any news on this? Is Tropico 5 now just permanently broken on W10?

It seems a shame, it used to work on Windows 10 when I bought it.
Just got the update for Tropico 5 and it's now running under Windows 10 for me... finally \o/

Me, too. Finally indeed! Cheers! :-D
Yes, seems like the patch fixed things. :)
Ya patch fixed it for good:

" A new Update (v1.11) for Tropico 5 has been released!
Fellow Tropicans,

A new update for Tropico 5 is now available! In this update, we’ve added cross-platform multiplayer (Steam & GoG) and fixed the XAudio compatibility issues some players were encountering.

Full changelog below:

Improvements

[Multiplayer] Added cross-platform multiplayer support between Steam and GOG accounts
[Multiplayer] Added tool tip for road demolish menu informing players that demolishing a road is only possible within territories they own

Bug fixes

Fixed a crash on Windows 10 systems due to XAudio compatibility issues caused by Windows update (XAudio2_7.dll_unloaded error)
Fixed an issue where gamepad input was still possible even after it being turned off via the Options menu
[Multiplayer] Fixed an issue where incompatible lobbies were visible to players "

Pretty unexpted to get one after all that time. And that one even adding another Feature (Gog Steam Crossplay additionally to the Bugfix)
I'm downloading the patch now! I guess GOG having to remove the windows 10 compatibility finally forced the developers to have to do something about it, especially since STEAM already had the fix. This is another case of GOG customers being treated as second class by the developers. They probably had never thought to send the fix to GOG as well.

That's actually factually incorrect :D
The patch on steam was released the same as on gog

Release is from yesterday.
Hello, after releasing patch for Tropico (GOG) everything is fine. Thanks a lot after so long time.
Yesterday I asked GOG support to delete my negative rating for tropico 5 in the GOG shop, as the rating only related to the Windows 10 problem.

Since you can play Tropico 5 on Windows 10, the other gamers should also try to delete their negative rating in the shop. After the patch, it would only be fair.

Actually reinstalled Trop5 a few minutes ago after reading here , that there`s a new patch. And finally, after all this months : It works !!! So , it has to be said:A big "Thank you !!!" to all you guys on this forum page for hanging in,pointing the finger, pressuring ,asking for a solution and trying to help for such a long time.I.All of you easily deserve a 5 out of 5 stars rating.Well done !!!
Very good to see this Tropico 5 crash has been fixed. Kudos to the devs.

I understand it was not an easy fix considering the games was not in active development anymore. Even better that you managed to come through for the community.
