DiceDuP: SOLUTION:

I fixed this by going to my bin>x64 folder and deleting the following two objects:

d3d11.dll
dxgi.dll

I had a feeling as I stated earlier that it was something to do with the .dll files updated today. Try it and see if it works.
Thanks for this!

My experience is kinda weird... when I pressed F2 on "d3d11.dll" file (to rename) and I typed something... after I pressed ENTER, whatever filename I typed disappeared off that folder. Not only that, "dxgi.dll" was gone too, and I had 2 previous backup versions named dxgi(1).dll and dxgi(2).dll.

But whatever the case, now it starts up fine.

ps: GOG Galaxy was running when I did the steps above. Interesting, maybe...
Deleting or renaming any of those file in bin/x64 won't help for me. Still doesn't start. Any other suggestions?
i have the same problem :( i click on the start button - then the screen get for 2 seconds black... (sorry for my bad english :(

Before I found this thread, I experimented and found that Witcher 3 would only start if I did NOT start any other s/w that uses gaming Overlays... meaning no Raptr/Xfire/Steam/Overwolf, as well as no video capture software like FRAPS and Bandicam.

After Witcher 3 was running I could alt-tab out to start video capture s/w but nothing else... anything else with in-game overlays, even if disabled, would crash Witcher 3.
Same here. I was playing the game without any problems until this day. Now I got updates, 2 new DLCs and nvidia drivers update. After these updates when hitting the "Play" it tries to start but won't. It just vanishes and "Play" becomes back to clickable.

Just installed 8gb more memory up to 16 to run W3 better but now this problem. Haven't solved this yet. Actually, GOG and W3 developers should solve this asap!

I have actually tried everything I have found from the internet. I also tried admin rights since I use normal account in Win but nothing helps.

W7 here. I have all updates up to date.
Well, that's funny. I haven't installed anything, haven't seen Galaxy installing anything, but I also can't launch game anymore. Process appear in list for a few seconds, but then disappears. No error messages, just gone.
No windows updates were downloaded today (as none available).
Random sarcasm over modern day quality control. /grin

Thank you kind sir. Deleting those files fixed this for me. =) I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was wrong. I reinstalled the game, gog galaxy, re-installed my drivers, restarted my computer several times. xD

Thank you so much for this! Worked for me. Last night I had started getting the 'you cannot save right now' bug, and after quitting the game would no longer start. Now it's all shiny :)
I can actually run the game with RTSS running but the fps counter stays at 1. However, with dxtory running I get the exact same issuea as you have.

Well I got the same problem, but I discovered it's just the dxgi.dll. The game now has it's own dxgii.dll and if someone of you (like me) uses reshade and SweetFX, those two programs exchanged the dxgii.dll. It won't start then. Delete the dxgii.dll and let the gog client repair your game. A new dxgii.dll will be downloaded. After that it should start again. It works for me. Unfortunatley Reshade etc. won't work anymore...

Just to note that I've also had 0 problems with the game since launch and it's only today when I've tried to launch it that's resulted in either a black screen or "This program is not responding" message. Win7 64
You should feel lucky that it doesn't start for you. Because for me it starts and I complete quests without getting any rewards.
