Bowmangr: You know exactly what I meant with my comment. No reason to make fun of me alright?
EVERY game has bugs on release and always there are people that come to the forums to whine about it as it is their first game that they play ever.

Cd Projekt Red has proven time and again that it works fast on the problems and fixes them. I don't have any reason right now to believe otherwise. Only six days after release, do you have any?

MihaiHornet: So they need to do some fixing too after all. :) LOL
Do you even have anything useful to add to this thread or you are here just to mock and add LOL at the end of each of your sentences? How old are you? 14?
Hello,

I played the game through as swordsman with maxed shield spell Quen and ... . I drink health and energy regeneration potions when needed. And combat is like refresh quen when needed and leftclick your enemies to death. Yeah. That is tactical combat at its best. NOT. Buttonsmashcombat at its best. When adrenalinbar is full push x for finishing moves.
When your magical energy is drained cruise around the enemy till your power is restored. Every combat against trash mobs was the same. There is no combat design to be found at all . You need no tactics to win.

The 3 1/2 bossbattles are like this: Kairan is rather nice designed with try and error. The Draug general did no fight back after pushing him into the flame ring of the battle arena. The Earth elemental was no bossfight at all. The Dragon was really easy with a big silver sword (40 - 43 dmg) and the abuse of shield spell quen.

So sword combat is really bad in tw2. A clickfest. No character skills or personal skills involved.

I might add that i liked the game. But there are many areas in the game that need hard polishment.

Have a nice day

Quen is very overpowered. sure it does not last long but it makes you able to take on anything.

in the last game, it could be sued for drinking potions. and healing. but in this game you hardly heal so its not too useful as that.

what it SHOULD do is not fully block the full attack but beef up your armour rating by X amount. or reflect X damage back at the enemy while you take the rest,

used with a few other fixes and a better blocking system we will have a cooler game.

frenrihr: I think the finishers are bad idea... they should put another thing... that makes ESASY even a golem..... i killed one only charguing adrenaline.... ok normal combat sucks but... this... i think its like a cheat, you should unlock one melee ability or something not an instakill move.... and people say the combat its great...and rewarding....pfff.
In my opinion this is a good point.

The finishers are a nice touch, and very entertaining, however I think the system would benefit from a dual system. What I mean by this is that when an enemy is above 20% HP adrenaline should cause a powerful attack that does a large amount of damage (perhaps 200% critical damage) and has unique special move animations. Below 20% HP and the adrenaline move would be a finisher as they are in the game now. This would allow the build up and utilisation of adrenaline abilities against bosses (adrenaline is largely redundant against boss enemies in the game currently) as well as harder monsters (such as mini-bosses). The adrenaline system would become fundamentally more entertaining and useful to a greater extent.

I also think the combat system could benefit from a targetting lock system that doesn't cause a permanent lock. For example, whilst fighting you could hold down a key (or a mouse button) to sustain an attack on the target. On releasng the key you would go into "direction" based free combat, allowng a more fluid transition from mob to mob, and a targettng system more suited to the twitched-base hack 'n' slash style combat system.

I also think the fast attack/hich power attack system is a bit silly. I personally think that a system where you have high attacks and low attacks would be better, as they could be strung together in interesting ways and have a direct effect on crit chance. Basically a return to a similar style of combo based attacks as the first game, more suited to the twitch-based combat of the second game.

Parrying and blocking if flawed, but I don't know what I think about it. Instead of havng a "parry", perhaps Geralt could swirve and dodge attacks whilst stationary, as opposed to blocking with his sword. This would make the combat feel a little more like the cinematic combat displayed (which I found a little disjointed from the actual combat used).

I have a whole host of suggestions up my sleeve, but I'm sure CD Projeckt doesn't want to hear my ranting about it. These are the areas I'd like to see improved. The combat was a vast improvement on the first game, but is still flawed in some areas.
The combat will not be changued by CD proyect, i doubt it... mybe we should put this suggestions on the mod forum and they will make one mod that fix combat, but well maybe i will finish the game by then, i am on chapter 3 by now and i read somewer that this game only have 3 chapters and if that is true well i am on the final lap... and if i replay the game i will use a mor mage based withcer because sword its bad in the begining and boring in the last part, but maybe i move on to another game.

I finished the game... very short compared to its predecesor, i dont like the combat i say why in my previous post and i will not discuss this more... the ending was very poor... so i will move to another game, arguing about the combat mechanics of a game that dosent even last 20 hours has not sense, you should play it, finish it and move on, i liked the game but the short and the ending kinda ruined it... still its better than dragon age 2 but that dosent matter anyway, consider this my review i can give it an 8 of 10 points, and if you are interested (because i know you are and you will call me a bioware fanboy) DA2 for me was a 4 of 10.
Good to see Cloud8521 is still leading the crusade of PC Whiners. Keep it up, you have a reputation to maintain! You must let the world know, PC Gamers when given an excellent game will still spend all their time on forums whining and crapping on the game.

rivo101: Anyone else here abit unsatisfied with the combat in this game?

Im not complaining here, but i dont find any enjoyment out of it, due t the fact the normal difficulty is way to hard especially at the early stage of the game, there were some parts where i was facing 15+ goblins in a cave.

The damage dealt to monsters is abit satisfactory (ending up slashing then rolling away alot)

I also feel the combat should be quicker and more brutal (dealing dmg to enemies) and it would be great if gerald could do front flips and back flips to evade like in witcher 1 not just a barrel roll:(

Anyone else agree of am i just nit picking here?
They're called arcade games, why don't you play those. Or try Dragon Age 2, that has a great arcade combat system.

OMG I feel so powerful, when I pres a button, he strikes like a ninja but with the strength of a meteor causing 5 monsters to explode at once!

What beating 6 soldiers and 15 monsters solo doesn't make you feel powerful enough? You're not satisfied that with a bit of timing on dodges and swings you can kill anything in this game without any signs, potions or oils (other than big boses like Kayran/Letho) aren't satisfying enough? Oh well, as said before, some gamers will spend more time trying to think about what to complain about instead of learning to stop sucking.

You're making TW2 and PC Gamers look bad. Here is your cookie for your good work. Keep it up. TW2 fans and PC Gamers demand you continue your crusade of whining onto every gaming forum on the net!
I am loving the combat. I just got to chapter 3 and I am really strong now. At least I like to think that way. 5 vigor points, Quen electrocuting anyone in sight if anyone dares hitting me. Aard blowing everyone away, group finishers, yes I am the witcher I once were.

You're trolling CD Projekt... and PC Gamers... and PC Gaming in general.

I salute you Captain PC Gamer Troll! I present you the award of valor for whining and complaining in the face of TW2 fans. Despite the backlash you may receive you have shown courage to continue to whine and complain in as many threads as possible. CD Projekt must know the combat is bad, their UI is bad, the game is suffering from consolities, and their game mechanics are flawed.

*Salute!*

CD Projekt will surely know soon that anything you don't like and displeased with is a flaw they must address and fix to please you!.
