Beat the Kayran second time on hard. First time I died because I missed a QTE prompt (stupid QTE prompts are too small). Didn't read the guide, or the forums... It shouldn't be that hard.

mart.bakhoff: it took me some time to realise you can't chop off the center tentacles, only the ones on the sides. not so good design
The ones you can killed have giant round growths in the middle that are glowing orange. The other 2 don't. Glowing bit like that is a gaming standard, I agree that there is some questionable design choices throughout the game, but that wasn't one of them.

Really, what's hard in that fight after we figure out what to do? (plus the lady screaming from the top what to do!)
Someone here said it already, quen sign is your friend, it's absorbs every single hit until it either wears out or bursts. Another thing, if you get to the farthest points (To the left or right) the kayran will just hit you with a horizontal swing that can't be avoided. Try to stay between one of its middle tentacles and the one you're trying to cut and roll away after you place Yrden.

The boss is not hard at all, it's just that he has to be approached like bosses in WoW (With certain mechanics that you have to understand) instead of being a 1 on 1 duel (Like most boss fights in the game.)
Totally agree with the OP I was loving this game until I came across this beast, now my stress levels have gone through the roof. Even with the advice I still can't do it, and nornally I'm ok at this kind of thing. Maybe tomorrow I'll be fresh and be able to do it?

Ok, time to wait for a cheat, or is there anyway to bypass this encounter?

By the way I didn't think it was possible to change the difficulty level while in game?

Yes, you can!

Menu (esc), options, gameplay, difficulty.

Archangel591: Stop Blaming other for you lack of skill. This is not a game for kiddies. Any person over the age of 18 will figure out this fight in no time.

mike2R: Have to laugh at this. I think you'll find it is older players who lose patience sooner, since they just want a bit of entertainment.

It is the younger players who get all hormonal about it, and start thinking it will improve their mating prospects if they tell everyone how amazing they are at computer games.
I agree. As an older woman long-time gamer with arthritis I get really fed up with loads of show-off little boys bragging about how they can do it on hard and I'd be able to do it if I used my brains (wrong, my brain is fine, it's my hands that are not so good), and being derogatory towards those who do not have their uberl33t skillzzz and therefore want some hints and tips. Completely childish.

Hey guys, i thought i would use this thread to ask a question about Kayren... i beat and i forgot to loot it to get the Kayren Skin... Now i'm back at the city and i don't recall where the beast was...

Does anyone knows if i am able still to go to the beast and take the skin? Or is it forfeit now? If yes can you pinpoint the beast's location please?

Thanks! -)

The second part is what gave me hell. He constantly throws infinite boulders and if you approach what appears to be the "core" you get electrocuted and stunlocked and there's no chance for you to recover and discover what you need to do without doing the whole first part all over again. A simple camera pan that shows a new path opening up would've done them a world of good. Then you realize you need to go up a path that isn't obvious. If yer throwing around huge gimmick fights you have to give a bit more leeway as to how you want the player to go. They really need to make what they want done clearer in this huge gimmick bosses. The game isn't as intuitive as you'd like in these instances. The first part is piss easy once you realize that you need to use the Yrden nearer to the boss and fake him out.

Plain and simple. The game doesn't control as good as it thinks it does.
Those pesky wraiths of the Melitele quest are a lot harder than the Kayran! *ouch*
Ah, came back to it this morning and completed it on second attempt. Frustration just clouds concentration, judgements and relexes?
I find it hilarious that you people are completely missing the whole point of which boss is the hardest of them all, two words, endrega queens.
If it was too easy it'd be flamed to hell and back

I appreciate a game that makes it difficult for ya
The Endrega queens were quite tough indeed - it took me 5-10 minutes for the first one, and only a bit less for the second. The most disheartening thing about them was that there were TWO of the damn things! After I took out the first one I was pretty pleased with myself, but puzzled as to why I didn't get the notification to turn in the quest. The I saw the 1 out of 2 tally in the box under the minimap. :(
The only part of the game that I think really needs adjusting is the dragonfire in the Prologue. It's way too difficult - and I'm a gamer. I can imagine how it's frustating and turning away potential fans too impatient to die twenty times to get past it. If you talk about an "error on the developer's part", that beginning and the way the tutorial was muffed, fits.

The kayran, though, is just fine. It's a real boss creature and not a cakewalk. I found it easier than a few of the ones in Darksiders, for example (like Tiamat!). The kayran would be scarier than hell on Insane, I bet.
