LOL cant beleve people had issues with this ...rock falls woo look a ramp...maybe i should run up the ramp...shock horror i killed it by throwing what looks like a beer tankard into its face....must have been aldi's vodka
Yeah, I can't really understand how so many people have problems with this. I did it on my 3rd try, and now that I know how the boss works I'm pretty sure I could finish it on my first try from now on.

Yeah didn't even use any potions on normal my second play through. I didn't even use the mongoose potion, the shield sign removes poisons any way. I just ran in there, chopped off 3 tentacles after stunning them. Jumped on the one you have to jump on, ran up the fallen bridge and it was over under 5 min.

If they make the boss fights easier it would be a straight up cut scene with no interaction required.

The most frustrating part for me was after the bridge fell on the Kayran, it just kept hurling rocks at me when I was trying to figure out what to do next.

I don't know who else found this a bit off, the speed at which the rocks was coming had to be one every few seconds. Other than that its really not too bad once you figure out what to do.

There is no point to using the mongoose potion if you have Quen up, and the sign will remove any damage over time effects. So, if you are on fire or poisoned or some thing just cast Quen and you will be alright. But it did take me my first play through to figure that out.

Has to do with the persons character level and difficulty and what gear they had at the time ...

Definitely not. If you were talking about the first encounter with the Kinglsayer I'd say damn right you are (It depends on skill mostly, but potions plus good gear and trinkets might help a LOT). But in the Kayran encounter it's all about figuring out the mechanics of the fight. You could beat it as easily whether you'd be in lower tier gear or higher tier.
How this forum moans about "consolization" and then about difficulty that is reminiscent of games I haven't played in a long time boggles my mind.

has NOTHING to do with the level or difficulty this fight is just about avoiding the arms, using your sign in the right spot and compleating the QTE correctly. at worst if your a low level you might have to hack at the arms a bit longer
Kayran fight when i played it was very difficult (normal), very little room for error, took me an hour, i killed it via the QTE, [SPOILER] basically after cutting off 3 tenticles, you press whatever button it is aain to jump onto the tentacle, smam left mouse button, then it will try to smakc you into a wall, you need to press space when it says (or you can spam it after left mouse button), followed by dodging the massive rocks you throw at it proceed up the toppled bridge, then you should jump down and finish it, don't run up and touch the boss, you will be electrocuted.

So far i think killing the Kayran was the best fight yet, i'm on chapter 3.
It took me a few goes to figure out what to do to begin with. Once Sile says to trap it with the Yrden I managed to bring the bridge down first time without getting hit once. After the bridge came down and didn't know what to do and was just running around trying to avoid the rocks that get thrown. They killed me a couple of time. I got close to the kayran and was killed by the electric/magic. Finally I tried running up the top and that worked.

All in all... about 20 - 25 minutes on normal mode for me.

i know, yeah i dont like some of the menu choices, and the fist fighting much but by far this is one of the better and certainly nicest looking rpg for years dosent feel console dumbed down has some really difficult fights.
I really don't get what was so hard about it

cast Quenn, try to get under the tentacle that has a ball in it, put the trap sign on the ground, jump away when it gets trapped hit that glowing bubble till it explodes, it goes nuts it's a massive sign to stay away, so stay away. repeat for 2 more tentacles then you'll do the QTE after that go up the ramp and throw a bomb into its hole. fight done.

it was so easy it was dull. most of this information was provided to me in game through the witch...

yes she's annoyingly screaming "Yrden, use Yrden!" all the time.
