Crazy_McGee: It would have been better for everyone's expectations if a "Coming Soon" tag had been used instead of a listed date.
You say so, but there are some "Coming Never" titles on GOG currently, which I think should just be delisted until something solidifies. Xenonauts 2, VTM: BL2, and so on.

At least Shock 1 Remake appears to have been absconded by a bigger project which was likely thrown at them; but Shock Remake is still in progress.

I never said that it wasn't; I said that giving a calendar release date and then swapping it to "TBA" was a bad move on their part. It generated buzz around the date and created expectations that should have been quashed by Nightdive long before. A "Coming Soon" tag would have done just that.

It's amazing how one button modifier can piss off so many people, but there it is. It's not like Nightdive's Discord is doing them any favours right now either.

September 2021 Update

News

It’s been a wild couple of months as we continue to work towards launching the game we’ve all been patiently waiting for. I know there has been some confusion over dates, and announcements which is an unfortunate reality of making games, but I can assure you that System Shock is on the way. We have some big news to share in the future that will help make sense of what’s been going on, and again we thank you for your patience.

What are we working on?

We are working on the final polish for the enemies, weapons, levels, and cinematics. We will post a few screenshots here, but we’re at the point where we don’t want to ruin any surprises.

Grove Dome - One of the largest assets in the game, its translucent windows will allow you to see the outside of the Citadel Station and Saturn while visiting the Groves.

Grove Vegetation - There will be many different varieties of plant life living inside the Groves.

Avian Mutant - We originally cut this enemy from the game but decided it was important to have an enemy that introduced verticality to the combat, specifically in the Grove levels.

System Engineering - Early Blockout

We will have a few updates coming to the demo which include full dismemberment across all enemies along with updated AI, new behaviors, new animations and hit reactions, updated weapon fx as well as numerous bug fixes and performance optimizations. We’ve compiled feedback from discord and the various forums and will continue to do so to improve the game. A big thanks to everyone who has been sharing their feedback with us in a constructive way, it’s greatly appreciated and extremely helpful!
I supported this from the get-go on Kickstarter and its been nothing but excuses and optimistic blarney.

Me "Are we there yet?"
ND " Its just around the next corner!"
ND "Oh! Sorry! It'll be just around the next one I'm sure!"

ND "Oh! Wait! No, Sorry, the dog ate my homework, and I'm soooo, busy, anyway."

You can probably imagine that I'm not one of those supporters who might give them constructive feedback in a constructive way.

I've lost faith in the project, what a monumental waste. If they do deliver I'm not sure I can muster the enthusiasm any more.

You could have clicked New Post instead of replying to mine you know.
"Please note that the official release date is not yet confirmed" has been in the game description for months.

I'm with you on this one :)

Supported the game in 2016 for a release en 2017... what a bunch of craps...

Now December 2021? I don't believe that and if it goes out I don't expect it to be in better shape than , let's say Cyberpunk 2077 :D

And talking about SS 2 EE, I don't expect before dying of old age :)

JPR out!

Welcome back Hackers,

We are still in heads-down mode and entering the QA phase of development, which means that the backer beta will be in the near future!

However, we do have a few sneak peeks of the opening cinematic as well as the playable area in the Hacker's apartment we want to share.
I am one of the original kickstarter backers from summer 2016.
This "faithful remake" was supposed to be released DECEMBER 2017.
Nothing more needs be said.
They just changed it to Dec 2022? Unbelievable. I hope it ends up being good!

Thanks that sounds a bit better.

You mean Beta in early 2022? Yes, it's almost good news. Many KS backers are not happy but I thought Beta is something you can play from start to finish but with possible bugs, it's almost like a confirmation of a full game by 1st of April, even if in form of bugged release,
I don't believe that NightDive decided to take a help of a new publisher to simultaneously release a game on several platforms though, for me it looks like they would receive additional funding (in exchange for less profits) crucial for finishing the project being so long in development. Not very good news, but not bad either.
Personally I'm just officially DONE with this game and and probably anything coming out of Night Dive in the future. I'm sending in a request for refund for my pre-order.

Yeah, sure. You can expect that delays are going to happen and you can expect that sometimes pre-ordering projects can have some issue. But now we've gone from a fall release date in 2021, to December 31st, to now MAYBE December 31st 2022?? At this point I'm pretty sure no one knows what they're doing over at Night Dive, so I'm just not going to support them unless they sort themselves out a bit better than this.
