do you have any previous saves? would like to have a look and see where the corruption happened..
Game complete. Loved every second.

I've tried to bundle my old saves into one package. Hope it works. Cheers!

p.s. There was another odd thing that might be a bug. For the last few levels, the annelid arachnids started to appear as transparent "ghosts". Could still damage them and didn't affect gameplay. In Shodan's crazy virtual world at the end, the cyborg assassins were also transparent, but I thought this was probably intentional.
they are supposed to be transparent.
Yesterday I went back to the playthrough that I had undertaken in an effort to reproduce this bug. I had gotten stalled out on that playthrough when it turned out there wasn't actually any place to submerge in Hydroponics.

Anyway, I picked it back up, blasted through Ops, and made a beeline for the Rec deck pool, jumped in, and... everything was fine. lol.

At least we know the bug isn't a certainty for Mac users. For what it's worth, here is a save right before I jumped into the pool.

My first playthrough crashed as soon as I submerged in the Rec deck pool. I actually thought that not being able to submerge was part of the gameplay. I don't know what's different this time through. I should note that I have played other WINE games in the interim. I'm not clear on how WINE is constructed, but I believe the WINE engine is built into each specific package(wrapper). However, if the WINE engine is system-wide, and not built into to each individual wrapper, then it's probable that the WINE engine on my system was updated when I installed another WINE game.

One other piece of evidence to consider is that I died when I jumped into the Rec deck pool on my original playthrough, but by the time I had reached the Rick, my saves were no longer corrupted, but then my save was subsequently re-corrupted at some point and I died again when submerging in the Body of the Many.

I know I'm late to the party on this forum, but are you still fixing people's saves Voodoo47??

It would be lovely if you could work your magic on my save as well! :D I can't dive in the Body of the Many :(

[I think I did this right!]

ooh ooh ohh can you do mine too?

sendspace.com/file/lnfzpl

I'm late to the party too, and even later to this game, I can't believe it took me 14 years to finally play it!

Anyway, thank you in advance Voodoo47 if you're still around. You're everybody's hero!

best wishes
Orion
first save (Yuna5000) is here: sendspace.com/file/s8m1xv

the second (Orion's) archive is broken and I'm unable to open it with 7zip - it should have a few megabytes, definitely not 200kb. try packing it up again.

you guys (girl?) both running the mac version, right? also, if you can share your full set of saves, please do, might be helpful in the future.

hopefully this is right? Sorry...

should i upload all my saves? to sendspace?
my story is exactly the same as above. I got killed by the pool in the rec area, trying to search the body floating beneath the diving board. I managed to get to that corpse by going in slowly and backwards, never submerging my head. I feel the same way about pools in real life! This game reads minds!
many thanks!!
yeah, all your saves, if you can.

here is the link to all of my saves! let me know if it works….

Thank you SO much….I can't wait to see how this game ends!!
What's your story? Are you a programmer?

nope - but seeing where/when the problem appeared first might point to the reason why it happened, and then a workaround or fix can be found.

so are we still doing the thing where you can fix the save files? because my protagonist can't swim either. also, is there any word on actually fixing the game so this doesn't happen? because it seems fairly widespread. also, since there are so few mac games anyways, it is kind of a shame that some of them would be broken.

Sounds like you are volunteering, nice. I'm sure voodoo47 would love some help from a Mac person in tracking down when and where the save corruption happens.
yeah, it's a problem with some mac systems - I was not able to replicate the issue on xubuntu, no matter how hard I tried. saves can be fixed with little effort (just post it here), the tricky part is finding out why is this happening.
