And I won't pay full prive at that time, because the game is by then a year old. Otherwise I would have bought your game on release, but I think I wait for the DRM free version on a sale here now.
I am an old gamer, having a backlog of over 900 games, consoles games included, collected within my lifetime of gaming. I do not need to buy any new game at launch.
I will sit this one out. I really hope for you, that your plan, getting more money from the shops will work out, but I fear, it will backfire, because taking games hostage on a platform as leverage is not a good idea, and as customer unfriendly as it can get.
As is the epic game store is for us customers. No refunds, no review system planned. And demanding too much personal data from us, before we are able to buy anything from them. Maybe you should check this out, before binding your success to the store.
Regardless of your intentions, you wiill be seen as "the bad guys", too. For making the exclusive deal for a whole year. Think about it. The most sales of any game are in the first two weeks after the release day. It's common game developer knowledge. So 3 months exclusivity would have been more fair to you, and the customers.
The epic store screwed you, too. Binding you for one year, denying you to sell your product to a wider range of customers. You will actually loose money that way, because after that year, you can only get around half the price for your now old game on the other stores.
Maybe I am wrong, but I think that is the way it will go down.
