JudasIscariot: Hi all,

We are pleased to announce that all three of the Realms of Arkania games (PC for now, Mac versions will be made available ASAP :) ) are now available in German. Please check your game shelves for the new drop down menu where you can select between the English and German version.

Vielen Dank! :)

There is no music in the first game. I can't even select a music card in the sound setup, only a sound card for the bleep effects. The second game is fine.

Please send a message to Support about this, please, if you don't mind :)

RS1978: I've bought every single release from "Realms of Arkania 2: Star Trail", since it's my favorite DOS game, but to have it here on GOG as German CD version as well it's just awesome! :)

There are a few scenes voiced, but the main difference makes the full soundtrack (3 audio cds for Realms of Arkania 1+2).

borsook: I do hope the full soundtrack will be added to the English version, but in the mean time, can the audio from the German version be used with the English version?
Hi, as far as I remember the English version of RoA2 is a hybrid - CD version animations plus music and speech pack from the floppy version - as far as I am concerned the CD music does not really add as much to the game as it does for RoA1 but that is because at the time I played it I had a decent hardware Roland General Midi Daughterboard that made the music sound virtually as good as the CD soundtrack (so stuff Soundblaster/Adlib FM music ;-)) - even in the German CD version I still play with General Midi music !!! (alright, yes I am a bloody Kraut ;-))

(as far as I am concerned, anybody playing old DOS games with Soundblaster/Adlib if General Midi is possible seriously belongs in a loonie bin - DOSBox emulates sound equipment for free that used to cost a fortune (!!!) at the time...)

(even with RoA 3 use Soundblaster 16 for speech instead of Soundblaster AWE 32 - it sounds a bit more crisp (listen closely !!!)
Realms of Arkania 1+2 is marked as updated again today. What's been changed?
One thing I noticed that the games jumps straight to the straight outside the first tavern if you choose general midi for music instead of CD. I was able to reproduce it a couple a of times. CD music worked fine.

(Update: This may have been due to the fact that midi was apparently set to X-Fi hardware - the Roland Soundcanvas stuff that comes with Windows appears to work...)

Mac OS X German version had some music issues fixed :)
Thank you very much, having played through Chains of Satinav yesterday I wanted to return back to the north again.
The availability in German is just the icing on the cake.
Well let's see if I still get lost in those towns...

edit: If you use the wine installscript you have to chose "Options" and then change the directory name to "Realms of Arkania Pack" (delete the "(German)" part). Otherwise you have to manually set the starter.

sorry, I am probably missing something here, but I can't find any passcodes files in the Realms of Arkania Shelf.
I am asked to type in various names I'd find in the original german manual, but where is it?
can anyone help me?

Very cool! I have got a question, wouldn´t it be a good idea to include the german versions of the manual as well? Because at least Realms of Arkania 1 asks copy-protection questions related to the manual...

You should see those in the Start menu for the game after you install a given game in the series :)
Ah okay, good to know :)
