The GhostDog UI mod and the Fixpack mods hosted on the Spellhold Studios site are packaged as setup exe files. When I run these setups they insist on first installing PDFCreator. You cannot proceed with the installation unless you first install PDFCreator. If I allow the PDFCreator install to proceed, I receive an alert from my virus software (Avira) that the PDFCreatorSetup.exe. is attempting to install the Barys trojan. I abort the install and allow Avira to quarantine the PDFCreatorSetup.exe file.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Does anyone know of a source of these mods that does not package them with malware?

Thanks.
I am having an error when I attempt to install the Widescreen Patch.

I would post this on Gibberlings website, but I receive the message that it is suspended.

A picture is included down below.

Any advice?

I have the exact same issue as you Dogs900... after finally getting the widescreen mod and everything since that host site went down... Would love any help, I really want to try out this classic, heard so much praise.
So, i installed all the mods like the guide said and everything seems to work fine, BUT everytime i move the cursor moves up left and when i move the mouse it doesn't work.
The only solution is to open the map with the key m und click at the location of my character.
But that is no option when every time i move i must do the map thing.
Anyone knows what mod does this and how i could fix this?

Sometimes just rebooting your computer will fix that.

Yap, thats done the trick.
Thanks for the help.
I look forward to my first play through, thanks for the easy set up guide and the advice on which mods are best, I did the all until unfinished business.
I had some weird error when trying to install the widescreen patch, seems the GOG installer installs some WeiDu-Stuff (DirectDraw-Fix), I had to delete this file (setup-directdraw.exe or so), before installing the widescreen patch, otherwise the installation of the widescreen patch did not work (Win7x64)
Anyone else have problems with GhostDog's UI mod, if you have VIPRE Anti-Virus? I keep getting the "insufficient permissions" error. VIPRE keeps saying it's a known bad site - any way around this?

Looks like you are getting two separate messages. If you have the game installed to C:\program files(x86) and you are using Win Vista/7/or 8, you need to reinstall the game to a directory other than C:\program files(x86) because Windows protects everything installed into that folder and won't easily accommodate you writing in new files there. If you only have a C:\ partition, then install the game to c:\Torment or something like that--it should eliminate permissions errors. If you are following the links here to one of the mod sites, those are good links, so feel free to ignore VIPRE as it is wrong. AV programs can wreak havoc in your system--I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials, unless you have Windows 8, in which case it is already installed standard and installing another AV program running with it could really hose you up...;)

This is because the WeiDu installer for the current Widescreen mod, (currently v3.05) is a bit older. When you run the installer, it checks for other WeiDu mods already installed on the game and it doesn't like newer versions of Weidu. WeiDu is actually a mod installer package system developed for Infinity Engine games that keeps track of your installed mods to keep them compatible with each other. Overall, WeiDu is great, but it does have a couple of quirks, like the one you mentioned. This will likely not be a problem, as soon as the next version of Widescreen mod comes out. In the mean time, you can work around it, jut by making sure you temporarily move other WeiDu mods out of the folder (like the DirectDraw-Fix) and install the Widescreen mod before any other mods (which should be done anyway).
Hi

I was following the mod guide but I have a doubt. The mods have created a lot of .bif files in the base folder and I don't know if that is ok or the files should be in any other sub-folder of the tree directory as all the other .bif files are inside the data folder.

Any idea?
When I tried to istall the UI mod I got an error saying that torment.exe cannot be found. I checked and the exe is really gone. I had installed every other mod before that and started the game after each one to check if everything was ok. So something about the UI mod made my torment.exe disappear. Any ideas how to fix this ?

This is completely normal, and you do not need to move, modify or do anything else with the files. I don't know specifically the reason all of the files are there, but if I had to take a guess, I would say it is probably because of the age of the game. The game was from a time when hard drive space was at a premium, and it was not uncommon for games to run a large number of the files from the CD, which now days, especially with the GOG version, that is not the case. It is also possible that the files were contained inside of an archive file. After being modified, from the mods, it may need those files to override the files in the archive. The last possibility that I can think of, is that it is both lol. Either way, it is normal, and you don't need to alter them in any way.

That is certainly very odd. Make sure that you do not have the game installed to C:\Program Files and make sure that you have admin rights to whatever location you have it installed to. If you did have the game installed to C:\Program Files, then make sure you install it to another directory, like the default C:\GOG games\ or anything else that you prefer. You will likely need to re-install the game in any case, if you are missing files. You should right click on the installer and select, "Run as Administrator" if you are using Windows Vista/7/8.

If that does not resolve your issue, then you may want to consider re-downloading all of the install files again, to be certain that they are not corrupted.

I hope this helps.
