JohnStedham: Hi, I'm trying to install winrar to extract the mods for planescape torment and my pc keeps identifying it as malware. Do I need to disable something? Or could I be getting a dodgy version? Thanks for the help, hopefully :)

Vagabond: It shouldn't be malware at all. I recommend getting 7Zip over WinRar, as it is completely free.
Thanks a lot, I'll give that a go
The Mod guide is great, so thanks for the help putting it together. I just want to save time for some of the less skilled folks like me. For Step 2: Install Ghostdog's incredible UI, if you are a Windows 7 user (and possibly Windows Vista), you cannot unzip directly to the Program Files (x86) file unless you turn off UAC (not recommended). You can, however, extract elsewhere and then copy to the Program Files folder. Then, when you try to run the Setup-GhostDog's-PST-UI.exe file, do NOT double click on it. Right-click and then choose "run as administrator" otherwise the UAC will shut it down (and even deleted the file when I tried it).

Rekahkun: Did anyone else have issues with the mod downloads? I'm not very computer savvy so I may be missing something, but all of the mods except the widescreen one won't extract when I try to extract them. I'm using winrar and it just tells me in a popup window that it can't open most of the files. No explanation or anything. I've tried re-downloading but it does the same thing. Anyone know if there is anything I can change on my computer to open these mods?
Are you using Windows 7? If so, it usually won't let you extract files directly into the game folders. Like you, I'm not hugely computer savvy, so I'm not sure if there's a better way, but I usually extract to my desktop, then copy the files from there into the appropriate folder. Doing it that way, you can copy as an administrator, which lets you override the problem.
Aaaaaand I just realized the guy above me said the same thing. I got overzealous. Will these mods work with prior saves? I know they usually don't, but it just occurred to me to get them.
Aaaaaand I just read it will invalidate your saves by clicking on the link in the first post. Just ignore me.

No longer mirroring.

All the Mods can be downloaded at http://www.spellholdstudios.net/ and there is also a Link to the Widescreen Mod.

GoG.com should really implement some kind of installer where you can at least choose the non-content changing options like the widescreen mod.

Maybe all this is not official but those modders are in contact with Chris Avellone and many additions and changes are sanctioned by him and most where already hidden within the game files already.

Vagabond: If you're 16:10, do 1280x960.
Why 1280x960? 1280x800 is a 16:10 res. 960 is 4:3 res isn't it?

Hmm. I was probably drunk when I wrote that!
I found this to be a useful description of the mods:

http://thunderpeel2001.blogspot.com/2009/01/planescape-torment-fully-modded.html

There's some stuff in the first few steps that don't apply to the GoG version of PS:T, but it served as a nice guide for the above mods.
Hey guys, I installed the widescreen mod, UI fix, bug fixes and the two recommended components of unfinished business. I swear it changed the script. because I just started a game then quit to do the mods. I notice, despite me choosing the same chat options, and making the same character morte was saying different things.

I am just concerned I'm not getting the dialogue the way it was meant to.

One of the optional things in Unfinished Business is "Morte's Mortuary Moments" or somesuch, which I HATED. IMO it was removed from the final game for a reason. It's just an alternative tutorial, it doesn't really add anything into the game that you don't learn soon anyway, and it really breaks up the flow of the mortuary. Other people here also dislike it, too, so I know I'm not the only one. If you don't like it, go back through the UB setup and uninstall it... though you'll probably have to start a new game. But you're still in the mortuary so it's not a big deal.
Oh, well if it's just the Mortuary thats not so bad.
is it possible to use this mod for games already saved, or would I have to start my games over again?
Thanks a lot =)
