With massive thanks to The Amethyst Dragon, a legend in NWN, for doing all the work. An updated link list:

avatar
NathanBruha: Just posting updated links for some of the things listed in this thread, since most things have changed locations in the last 6 years.

--- Neverwinter Vault --- https://neverwintervault.org: This community-created and maintained site is the central repository for new and old custom content. Adventure modules, new art assets, graphical overrides, you name it.

The IGN NWVault was shut down, but before that happened the vast majority of the content was rescued and can now be found at this new Vault. If you are looking for something that was on the old Vault, you can search for the title or ID number of that content on the new Vault.

The Neverwinter Vault is also home to the NWN and NWN2 community forums, where most people moved when EA/BioWare shut down their 2nd set of NWN forums.

--- Neverwinter Nights Community Site --- https://www.neverwinternights.info: This site contains and links to a wealth of knowledge collected by the community since the game was released in 2002. If you are new to the game, or returning, this is a central place to start for players, DMs, module builders, and custom content makers.

--- Community Expansion Pack (CEP) --- http://neverwintervault.org/cep: The CEP is a massive collection of community-made content that builders can use to make modules and that players use to enjoy countless single-player and multi-player modules/servers.

I have been working on fixes and updates to the CEP since 2014, with the new versions remaining backward compatible (players with the newest version can play modules/servers made with previous versions back to CEP 2.1).

--- Project Q --- http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/hakpak/combined/project-q: Project Q is another collection of community-made content that builders can use to make modules and that players use to enjoy more modules/servers. Some of the newer content in this package can be used to update modules that use default NWN art assets.

--- Hall of Fame Modules --- https://neverwintervault.org/article/reference/neverwinter-nights-hall-fame: The community has created countless adventures, many vastly outshining the Original Campaign. This list links to some of the best produced over the years.

--- NWN Patches --- https://neverwintervault.org/patches: Some people are still having glitches with NWN Diamond downloaded from gog.com. If you are, be sure to go to this site to get and run the English 1.69 Critical Rebuild (NWN + SoU + HotU).

--- Beamdog NWN:EE Forums --- https://forums.beamdog.com/categories/neverwinter-nights: Beamdog has been working on updating NWN (working with several community members) and they recently set up forums for broader community input and beta testing.

Well, I think this pretty much covers the biggest links for now. Enjoy.

Updated 30th Oct 2011.
New info is highlighted by a keyword (in bold) to help you see what has changed.

NWN has been going a long long time and there is a huge knowledge base of articles and dedicated fans at the two (One now, but hopefully only a temprary thing) nwn Bioware site[s], NWNWiki, NWVault and the bioware guilds. I thought I could share a few of the more important links with everyone here at GOG. :)

Bioware NWN legacy forums are currently closed after a hacking attempt. Apparently they are still being worked on and hopefully they will be back in the future as there is a ton of information there. In the meantime, you can find an archive here. However the NWN community has new forums populated by many knowledgeable players, custom content creators, module builders and PW admins at the new bioware site tho. Bioware Soical Site:NWN

Nice collection there Shia.

I'd like to add my own post to this. Actually some of the links are the same...but I have some links and explanations geared more towards multiplayer and playing the game online as well:

http://www.gog.com/en/forum/neverwinter_nights_diamond/how_to_play_neverwinter_nights_online_and_in_general/post1
Ooops! Just realised I missed out Neverwinter connections which is a matchmaking service to get players and DMs together to play DM led games, which are a LOT of fun.

Have fun :)
very nice, the game needs a lot reading of various guides if it was to be played properly, the character guides would help out a lot
The CEP
... which is required by many user created modules.

Can be a bit overwhelming though, especially when trying to make modules work that require an older version of CEP. I managed after a bit of fumbling, but can't guide anyone else through the process.

If someone can simplify the process, this would be appreciated.
I didn't include the CEP link because it is in one sense, just another hakpak to download from NWVault in order to play the community module that requires it. Of course, it is a;so very popular and widely used and CEP2.x does have some unusual features like the autoupdate (which I personally don't bother using).

Basically, there's two versions. 1.x and 2.x. Both can be installed without interfering with each other. It's not a patch, simply a hak, so just download according to the instructions. One important thing is that you may not have a TLK folder yet and CEP and other haks have .tlk files. Just create the folder. :)

Building with it is more complicated, but the old bioware forums has a CEP section and the best forum on the new BSN to ask questions will be the custom content one.

Have fun :)
The CEP is more than just another hakpak. It's required for a really high percentage of modules and PWs. It belongs on this list.

A word of warning... as of version 2.3 CEP no longer supports the auto-updater.
Semi official IRC chat for NWN

Server: irc.nwn2source.net:6667

Channel: #nwn2cr

I know it says NWN2 there but NWN1 is definately also an ok topic here.

I use Mibbit to connect to the chat....which is a web/java aplet thingie...but you could also use a program like mIRC.

Good if you want a live chat with other NWN players and builders. Actually the discussion is usually quite technical but any topics as well as match making should be ok.

If you want to discuss this please use a separate thread.

Project Q is cool hak pak for NWN. It changes and updates some parts of the game as well as letting builders choose from various extra stuff.

http://www.qnwn.net/

Like the CEP this is not a "patch" that automatically updates the game...but rather...tools for the builders to play with to create new and different looking worlds.

You do need to have the files in your NWN folder (in the correct subfolders therein) if you want to play on world that uses this hak-pak (which is why it is called a HAK *nerdgasm*).

This module was developed by Ossian (the guys who did MoW) as a premium mod, but Atari shot down the Premium store before it was finished. Ossian didn't want all their hard work to just disappear so they finished it anyway and released it as a free download on the vault.

If you have a GoG install you already have Kingmaker and ShadowGuard.
