Thiev: You are correct ;)
Thank you :).
This question pertains to the first Soul Reaver. Is there a way to hack the exe and use the widescreen mod while also retaining the ability to watch the FMVs? They don't play for me, and I saw the issue in the thread earlier was never fully resolved.

Works for me, although I don't have the GOG version yet. I'll see what I can do, but I'm afraid it's not going to be any time soon.
I have the just-released Blood Omen 2 randomly hanging with the last second of sound looping on W7/64. Can anyone confirm that this is the same multi-core issue as with SR2 and Defiance? Also, does it matter to which core the affinity is set? Thanks!

Yes, it's the same problem (initial post updated). I don't know if it matters which core is set but generally people recommend the first one.
Added links to widescreen patches for SR2, BO2 and Defiance.
EDIT: *facepalm* I wrote up this whole long thing about fixing it, and didn't even notice the link is noted in the OP. However, the OP doesn't go into the details of actually fixing the FMV's, so maybe you should add part of this post to it, so others don't make the same mistake?

Ok, I was having the problem with the FMV's not playing after applying the widescreen patch as well. However, I THINK I managed to fix it, though I really only checked the first couple videos since this is my first time playing.
Basically, a little down the widescreen patch thread, there's a post that gives a link to another patch to use on your kain2.exe to make the FMV's work. The link is the NosGothica download page, here:
link
Scroll down to near the bottom, and in section 4, at the first entry, it says "Fix for any kain2.exe (SR1-Hook support)", which is what you need to download. Just click the picture next to it.
Now, to actually get it to work, you have to take ONLY SRHook.ini and SRHook.dll from the widescreen patch zip. Hopefully, you still have your original kain2.exe in your install folder, otherwise I think you have to redownload from GOG. Then, unzip the contents of the fix from NosGothica, delete the kain2.exe from that, and copy the kain2.exe from your install folder to where you unzipped. Then open !sr1_fix.bat and your kain2.exe will be patched! Copy back, run it, and cross your fingers, hopefully it'll work, it did for me at least.

Hey, great to see a thread centralising this information. I just bought the soul reaver games+defiance off the Steam sale (would have bought it on GoG but there were more of the games available in the bunlde and it was too good an opportunity to pass up) and am curious if anyone knows if these hex edits would work with the Steam version? I usually mind widescreen stretching but am willing to let it go if it's too much of a bother.

I've read that there is music missing from the PC version of Soul Reaver compared to the PSX version (dunno about Dreamcast), does anyone know if there is a mod/way of inserting the missing tracks?

EDIT: I did the hex edits on the Steam version and can confirm the widescreen fix works. Best of both worlds, bink playback+60 fps widescreen.

There is no way to insert the missing music - PSX music wasn't the usual CD stuff, it was dynamic midi music, while PC version CD tracks.
Not sure how much this adds (since the .bat file might have worked), but I'm running on Vista, and just used this youtube guide to set the processor affinity by modifying the shortcut:

Hey my game starts asking for the cd when i install any kind of patch is there a way to make think i have it or something i have been trying all afternoon and i use windows 7.

I didn't see this anywhere in the original post, so I thought I'd add this for those with ATI graphics cards that have issues with the textures popping/breaking/wigging/fidgeting/etc. out. There is apparently a solution to this, and I managed to dig it up over on the Steam forums, tried it myself and found it to work without issue:

"If you use an ATI/AMD card, replacing the atiumdag.dll file in the Soul Reaver folder with this file may solve the texture problems: http://www.mediafire.com/?wzm379223amren2 ."

Unfortunately, I'm not sure why the included version of this doesn't seem to work, nor can I honestly say what has been modified with this version of the file to amend whatever was lacking with the original. Hopefully this helps anyone else out, as I was about to headdesk after hitting several dead ends regarding this issue.
I found a more perfect solution towards the affinity problem. Small program right here http://www2.robpol86.com/guides/ImageCFG/ modifies any .exe file you tell it to, so it uses the core you want. I just tested it on Blood Omen 2 and it works.
I'd suggest updating the opening post to specify that links to the widescreen fix for Defiance also includes some neat HD retextures as well, if you'd like to take advantage of the past ten years of computer technology advancements while you play LoK:D.
I realise that first post is in dire need of an update. I'll try to add/correct some stuff within a month. Thanks in advance everyone for your patience.
