It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

I think I saw someone else say this, but with the atiumdag.dll file, I can't even get I76 to start. Without that, I get the typical "failed to initialize 3D hardware acceleration" business.

Maybe I wouldn't mind playing it under software mode if it wasn't for the fact that some of the sounds are off and it just doesn't look that good. Back in the day I could get the game to look better than it does now under software mode.
Does anybody still have a copy of the fixed ati driver dll file? The old link seems to be dead

Manfromx: Thanks for that ATI fix

Works great.

Here is a link to ATIUMDAG.DLL from Catalyst 9.5. Seems to work well so far
This is for the Windows 7 x64 version of the driver so not sure if it'll work for others

Download Here
link didnt work, Please help me, can u upload the file one more time?
PLEASE!
How do I turn off AVG? It keeps saying glide.dll and glide2.dll are viruses adn won't let me use them and the game won't work at all.
The sound skips and the cars hop around like the wheels get stuck in the ground too, and the sound lags if I look at the map.

More "fun" for ATI users:

New drivers cause a crash when used with the old atiumdag.dll. You will also need to add an old version of
atiumdva.dll to your I76 install.
Hey, just got the game.
Everything works out of the box, except i had the rainbow color thing.

I noticed that if you set your resolution to 320 and back to 640 this goes away.
Any resolution above 640 results in rainbow color, for me at least.

I only tested software so far. Game looks quite crunchy, I love the lofi boxcar graphics :)
I almost prefer running it in 320 haha.

*note I also have compatibility set to win95 and 8bit color, also checked the checkbox for disabling aero.

I'm having the same problem as ToxicFrog and Razormouth, the game crashes witht the atiumdag.dll. Adding the atiumdva.dll as ZamFear suggested didn't work either. Anyone had any success in solving this?
I'm considering buying Interstate '76 off of GOG...I'm running Windows XP sp2. Did GOG ever update this game recently so it works how it should, or will I have to jump through hoops to get it to run properly? If it's not fixed, I ain't buyin'. Thanks.
It's not fixed. I'm envious of the people who've had so much success getting it to run because even after all these workarounds I can only run the game at all in software mode, and even then using CPUgrab can't strike a balance between playable AI and godawful stuttering audio.

I tried replacing atiumdag.dll, configured dgVoodoo, throttled my CPU, nothing is getting this game to work properly. The launcher was no help either.

Win 7 Home Premium x64
AMD Radeon HD 6900

Bummer. Well, thanks anyway.

I seemed to have the wobbly tires bug on my newer Win7 PC (ASUS G75) which made e.g. the race mission against Taurus super easy, as he would drive his car quite slowly :)) and a bit of those funky colours in some cutscenes, but it still felt playable. I completed about 5 or 6 missions that way.

On my old WinXP ThinkPad T41, the game seemed to run without those glitches.

Anyways, using the I'76 Launcher 2.0 mentioned in the link below, and starting the CPU Grapper program from the launcher too, seemed to make the game run pretty much perfectly on my new PC too. I didn't feel running one extra utility to run the game really was jumping through the hoops. At least I'm a happy camper now, albeit I was ready to play the game on my old T41 as well.

Ah, the hell with it...I'm buyin' the thing. After all, it's currently on sale for only $2.39. It's not a good message to send to GOG that buy a buggy game from them, but at that price it's no big deal. Besides, perhaps the moon and the stars will align over my PC and it will manage to run properly, as I've heard it does sometimes.
Well, I bought it, and GUESS WHAT? It doesn't work fresh off the install. At all. All I get is an error message when I try to launch the game.

Guess I'll try and poke around this thread to see what I can do to fix GOG's mistake like everyone else has had to do...

You know, it's a good thing that I love GOG so much and that this is the only game of theirs that I've had a problem with. But introducing me to the wonderment of Machinarium alone gives them a pass.

This time. ;-)

It might work for you, but try the Interstate '76 Launcher for it. I tried it fresh after purchasing it yesterday and I have to say it works pretty well from what I have seen. Also download the nGlide Glide Wrapper to go with it so you can run it the way it was meant to be run back in the day.
I don't know if it's a sure fix, but so far running nGlide (though I believe other Glide wrappers work as well) with DXGL allows me to run the game with hardware acceleration. On top of that, I don't need to run CPU Grabber to help with the bouncy wheels. I haven't played much of the main game (only up to mission 5 currently) but I am able to save games and then load them.

I'll report more once I get further in to the game.
