Welcome to GOG GALAXY 2.0 closed beta forum thread! If you’re here, it probably means you’re already part of the beta or are waiting for your access – please be patient as we’re sending invites on a first come first served basis. And if you’re not signed up yet, you can still do it here.
We’re starting this thread to have a place to discuss with you your ideas and feedback about GOG GALAXY 2.0 – tell us what you like or dislike about the app, what features we are missing, which platform integrations you’d like to see, and share any other feedback regarding the app. Also, drop your questions about GOG GALAXY 2.0 and we’ll try to answer them if we can :)

GOG Galaxy is the worst of all launchers out there.
They deliberately won't allow to start the launcher minimized, and they deliberately launch an additional window when launching a game via shortcut. This scumbag moves are not acceptable.

The launcher just started minimized for me after reboot, the window that launches after running a game from shortcut also disappears as well. Stop spreading misinformation.

Is there a link to download the app directly? I do not like the idea for *ANY* reason turning off a security feature and the downloader does not want to run with security on!

found a offline installer here does not seem to need updating, or the update server times out / never answers?

honestly WTF people again.. the issue with install is that IT HATES ADDRESS SPACE LAYOUT RANDOMIZATION! THIS IS A SECURITY TOOL TO PREVENT SOMETHING FROM ACCESSING THE KERNAL IMPROPERLY!

Like seriously this one thing is making me feel like its better to stay with steam for purchases vs here because this should be update, it should not be untouched for 3 years for something like this!

I love GOG as a store, but I need to be honest about the GOG Galaxy client: the performance is extremely poor, especially for those of us with large libraries.

The main issue is the mandatory, full library re-sync every time the app starts. Having to wait 10-15 minutes just to be able to launch a game is frustrating and defeats the purpose of a convenient launcher. This should be a background task, not something that blocks the entire user experience. A full library scan everytime I open the app shouldn't be necessary in the first place.

Furthermore, the client feels like it's been abandoned, as updates rarely, if ever, tackle these core performance problems. It's a shame because the idea behind Galaxy is excellent. I hope the development team can prioritize fixing these long-standing issues.

GOG Galaxy is complete unuseable for me right now. Anytime I exit the app, the local database immediately gets corrupted and I have to reimport everything, which causes the app to repeatedly freeze. Reimporting games also causes hangups in installation, which I'm not even sure why I have to reinstall a bunch of my games (it doesn't seem to be all of them). Totally unstable. If anyone has some hack-y way to fix things, that'd be appreciated. I used to use Galaxy all the time but now it's been utterly frustrating and I dread having to exit the app and redo all this bullshit again.

EDIT: If there's a way to enable automatic updates without Galaxy, I'd prefer that at this point. Galaxy is unuseable.

There is no download link on https://www.gog.com/galaxy. I have scrolled up and down that page and cannot find it.

MAJOR BUG: FREQUENT CRASHES LOGGED

since > 2.0.75.xxx the client crashes continuously and is reproduceable even on a fresh OS + GOG-Galaxy install. This is a MAJOR BUG experienced by all users (at least those a bit tech-savvy who are used to explore Windows Reliability Monitor and Event Viewer, since there is no crash popup warning and it happens in background) up to current version (2.0.86.13) in August 2025 has NOT BEEN FIXED YET.

Please give this major usability issue a high priority in your to-do list.
