Kohleran: People will have to flee this disaster to other realms where it might be bad in some ways, but the support, price, and list of games are better.
Disaster? I don't understand. Is it really THAT bad?
Like, come on, dark theme instead of light? Some social integrations? Different layout? Imho, people are too choosy.

Can't argue with the fact that its beta, making it mandatory for everyone is a really strange move. But there is no critical bugs, you can buy, you can download and you can play your games. So if you can't live with this and 2.0 is foking crap for you, you hate it and hate GOG for doing this - not using it is a best option.

Kohleran: So yeah, as far as it goes, Client Apocalypse is pretty spot on.
Still better than Steam literally being a health hazard for users with Valve having known about it for 6 months and explicitly refused to take even the most minimal of action to address the problem. Given that trash heap, it's hard to justify such extreme language even with as big a mess as 2.0 is right now. My usual response is still valid though:

No. Those are just the steps to create your shortcut. All in the left bar is shortcut based. Shortcuts that you can move delete or create new ones.

Once you have created your Community forum shortcut/bookmark you will enter forums directly.

For me, the biggest issue is more of the fact that I never received any official notification about being "upgraded" to a beta. I read on the forums that there was talks about it getting forced (not sure how they heard about it), and I started researching what was needed to block an auto-update. A post from someone showed me there was an available argument that could be added to the executable, and a post from 2015 in regards to troubleshooting Galaxy not being able to update due to a firewall issue pointed me to the various update.exe files.

In fact, there is little to no feedback coming back to us in the forums. How often do you see someone from GOG post anything? There isn't even any response to the reasoning for us doing the beta testing. Those are jobs for beta testers, and they get paid to test and send feedback. I don't even purchase a game when it first comes out until generally 2 years after it has been released, so all the bugs are worked out and there are no more patches.

NO ONE was really given a choice when it came to 2.0. It's the removal of the choice that irks me. Sure I'm still on the previous version, and I have a 3rd party game client that I'm currently setting which allows me to import from GOG and Steam accounts because ultimately, older versions of Galaxy will most likely be blocked in the future.

When 2.0 is out of beta, and is ready to be released, then I'll try it out. Not before though.

Unless it got flagged as spam, which I only know happened to me because I got warned about another email I had been sent which was missing and I found it while checking my spam folder.

Yes it IS. Have you not heard peoples issues truly? Do I need to regurgitate what you can read about yourself? naw man, not going to list them all because I'll miss or forget some and anything I do list you just put your Hey, its ok with me answer.

If I truly had to debate this with you, I'd have to first update Galaxy again to Beta, so that I could pour over the issues. I got enough of a taste of them when I opted in (before the force happened). I gave it about a week of a trial. Some things I found to actually be there, but were obnoxiously hard to get too. I finally said to myself, I understand this is Beta, but when I can't find my games that I purchase, then its a no go. When I can't get to the store page to write a review or get to the games forum...

And I understand, that some people have found a work around where you can go thru menus to sticky a link somewhere on the Social UI, but really?

And then I found I couldn't revert! I had to forum dive and find out how to get back! Now... This was months and months ago. I think it wasn't long after GBeta came out. Lately, it started popping up things and forcing me to go GBeta. So I went on the forums to see wth, and found that all my issues from months ago?? Hadn't changed one damn bit. Not a single thing had been addressed as far as I could tell.

So yeah, it stinks real bad.

finally, to Regurgitate just my experience, even though I said I wouldn't for reasons stated:

When I had GBeta, I tried my tags, my sorts, couldn't list my games, social crap was EVERYWHERE cluttering up the UI with no option to get rid of the useless space grabbers. I remember not seeing links on my game that the current Galaxy has like settings or Store/Forum, game BACKUP/Goodies or such. I understand you like what functionality it does have beinging hard to find. That you like allot of the functionality of G1.x not being there at all. You like not being able to sort by purchase date, sorting such as it does have not saving between sessions, (this is from memory. You being GBeta pro, might know better). But not me. Some things might be there, like I said, I'd have to actually download the crappy thing again to find all its faults again. It didn't have an easy menu System for sure and was Social Butterlfy Cluttered and functionality was just too bad for me to use.

For me, I'll probably keep abreast of 2.0 and see if its still a social cluttered mess of a Client, and give it a temporary look too.

In the mean time, your 3rd party game client seems very proactive and I applaud. Can you message me or post which one so that I can do the same. Because of the way GBeta is rolling out, I'm sure G1.x will eventually be blocked as well, or come into some serious bug with it being no longer supported.

This doesn't work for me. When I'm at the community front page and want to set a bookmark, it doesn't appear on the left side of the client with the other bookmarks?

It works for example with my wishlist, but not with the community area.

Also I don't find the forums/community in the client. I had to go to the store page, then I had to navigate to the news section and then, in one news, to the commentaries to even get here...

The only emails I have received from GOG are whenever I make a purchase from GOG, or when something on my wishlist is on sale. I have no other GOG emails in my spam. In my account management settings on GOG, all four checkboxes are checked.

Launchbox. You have to register your email to get a download link, and there's multiple tutorials on setting up different things. There's a free and paid version (free does everything well so far).

Meyniro: Yeah. Also they are reptilians.
They are not pushing sales ffs, its just an old way to access forum through shop page, because there is no shortcut in 2.0.
I understand that a lot of people are upset with migrating from 1.2, thats fine, but its becoming really crazy, like using 2.0 is some sort of apocalypse.
i am sorry. i didn't know that this feature existed. i retract my previous statement about pushing sales.

missing core features, like the games list on the left and the access to the forums unless you know the specific work around, spreading things out/burying things in favour of the social features. no means by which to remove the unwanted/unused features. yeah it is pretty bad.

note i don't hate GOG for this, at least with them this is their beta and it might, i stress MIGHT, change to something more useable. but i won;t be using galaxy 2.0 at all unless these issues are addressed. and fortunatly i can buy and download games with it out. though if the option of downloading games without it goes out the window, well that's going to be an issue.

so it's a lengthly complex setup where you have to know where stuff is hidden in order to make a useable interface. but we already have a UI that is functional out of the box with easy access to everything, or at least everything i have everb used on galaxy. it's called galaxy 1.2.X

I bookmarked the forums in a version pre 2.0.14, probably that is the reason; It is shown for me under the two tags of the Galaxy 2.0 store links.

But I have noticed that now my link can not be deleted or moved as in previous versions, only renamed. Probably a bug. Because the behaviour of the interface has changed, It could be that they are planning to add the forums in a different way. Who nows.

The fact is that I still have it bookmarked, and for the time being, the forums are available and functional for me.

Any way, someone could advise if the workaround does work for him. To be sure if the action is still available.

yowshi: if the option of downloading games without it goes out the window, well that's going to be an issue.
If the option of getting your DRM-free games actually DRM-free (and yes, locking them to requiring the launcher is DRM) is removed, then I will be far from being alone in getting a complete refund of my entire GOG game library the moment they make that change.

There is no way they'll do that, because they will have to pay out a LOT of refunds (and no, "store credit" won't be legally-valid since they're no longer providing any product equivalent to what they're removing). It's a literal non-option by the nature of how the platform has been marketing itself because they would actively lose so much by doing so.
