It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Icinix: Yep - the biggest frustration for me is they took easy simple front and center features of frequent use, and buried them behide features, optional features, that it seems many on the forums have little to no intention of using.

matterbandit: Wow... Here's another shitty thing about Galaxy 2 I just discovered, thanks to you: I received NO NOTIFICATION that someone replied to my forum post!

In Galaxy 1, if someone responded to a post of mine, I would get a notification! A purple dot would appear.

No such thing in Galaxy 2. It was only by chance that I glanced this thread and noticed you had replied to me.

I think I'm going to cry now...
probably due to the fact that at this time galaxy 2.0 cannot access the forums at ALL.

obliviondoll: I very much LIKE the look of 2.0, but it's distinctly lacking in functionality in areas that need to be working before they push it live to everyone like this. It's not ready to be out of beta, and if it's not out of beta, it shouldn't be forced on everyone.

A few people have posted links in several topics I've seen to the older launcher files, most notably found here:
https://www.gog.com/forum/general_beta_gog_galaxy_2.0/will_we_still_be_able_to_download_use_galaxy_1x_afer_20_is_released
Thanks for the link.

I posted a bug report in Galaxy for the issue with that game and others in the series.

I don't get this behaviour of GOG, too.

It is obvious that Galaxy 2.0 is lacking established features as well as being buggy. So it is what the name says: a beta (maybe even alpha in some regards, given that it doesn't seem to be feature complete).

How can GOG roll out a beta release to the public as well as forcing customers to use this? That's a MS-Windows-10 mindset and Win10 wasn't a beta rollout at least. AND this is against everything GOG stands for.

Who manages this project and thought it would be a good idea to go public like that? I can only imagine it's because of the upcoming Cyberpunk launch, user numbers and the unwillingness to support two different major versions of the client, but still, that's not the way to treat customers, especially sensitive GOG customers!

Just make this beta optional and offer a "Galaxy Classic" installer as an easy accessible alternative, at least for a couple of months so that a smooth transition is possible. An upgrade should not be forced for existing clients. Especially to a beta, this is just wrong and silly.

GOG is about choice and relies on a certain idealistic mindset of its customers, so don't forget the main selling points for this platform. Otherwise I'm not willing to convince people to buy games on GOG, the argument of user-friendliness gets damages by GOG itself.

Hey everyone, I found this in the community wishlist: Allow users to stay with Galaxy 1.2

Also, to prevent the update, here's what I did to disable update for good. Seems to have worked, and all is fine.

I think that Galaxy 2.0 crap set a new record in my personal "how quickly application will be unistalled after first launch" category.
GoG, if I want another fucking mobile version of Netflix UI clone, clogging my screen with useless visual garbage while removing these few remaining useful options I'll switch to Steam or write an overlay by myself.
And no, being a "Beta" is not an excuse. If your damn stuff is not finished, then do not force it to upon your clients. Testing your own products is YOUR frikkin job - not mine.Yes, I could probably help you with that, but then you should - as per most basic level of decency - ask me first if I'm willing to do it, don't ya think?

That calamity of an "update" is giving me a very unleasant vibes of your infamous rollout of "Profiles", where you forced load of unwanted, intrusive and dodgy (at best) solutions and settings upon users and then ignores people complaints for weeks until you were actually threatened to face the legal consequences of your actions (GDPR). Now, it looks like you are planning to introduce Galaxy 2.0 using similar marketing methods.

If so, good luck with that. Switching to the others digital platforms which offers remarkably similar crappy interface and layout, but have better prices, support and bigger pool of games to choose from is just a single click away.

I still maintain that at least Galaxy 2.0 isn't a health risk to people like Steam has been for the past 6 months (almost the entirety of which has been with Valve knowing it's a problem).
Without a doubt, GOG galaxy surpassed Origin as the worst gaming platform.

I liked it better when it was just a manager to download your games, simple and functional.

What's the point of the "recently played by others" section which just lists popular games, most of which aren't even available on GoG?

And why does it take up more room in the client than my recently played games?

From Gudadantza, post 36:

Gudadantza: Navigate to a game store page from Galaxy 2 and enter forums from there. select the forum you like and make a bookmark of the page. Then you will have a shortcut to the forums. It will appear at the left bar under the store shortcuts.
Btw, thanks Gudadantza.

Sadly, a lot of the really useful features are either missing or hidden in a convoluted way.

Yeah. Also they are reptilians.
They are not pushing sales ffs, its just an old way to access forum through shop page, because there is no shortcut in 2.0.
I understand that a lot of people are upset with migrating from 1.2, thats fine, but its becoming really crazy, like using 2.0 is some sort of apocalypse.

Old way? It took them almost 10 years to add forum links to the game-cards.

No. Nothing is worse than Origin. As bad as Galaxy 2.0 is, it will not take Origin's crown.

It's a gaming using your preferred method Apocalypse. That is a good analogy. The preferred company went rogue and took its client, gimped it, added crap (in quite a few peoples opinion) to it and then forced it down us. So yeah, as far as it goes, Client Apocalypse is pretty spot on.

Actually, its not there yet. We have Technomages that have averted disaster so far by deleting the Update file. But it looks like it is certainly headed there if you aren't blind to the signs. If you consider the way Beta G2.0 has been shoved down our throat and 1.x Galaxy has had its accessibility to download obscured, I'd assume GoG will make it where Galaxy 1.x will be phased out completely. That, will be the actual Gaming Client Apocalypse. People will have to flee this disaster to other realms where it might be bad in some ways, but the support, price, and list of games are better.

The reason I think this, is it has been quite some time since Beta has been floating out there. And it still has the same issues as when it came out. There is no one listening/caring (or perhaps capable) enough to make changes. I don't know how they thought forcing a gimped Beta client would be good.
