Deponia series, Edna & Harvey, A New Beginning, and more adventures 50% off

Since 2007, Daedalic Entertainment, the German independent studio based in Hamburg, excels in the creation of point-and-click adventure games. Their titles vary in style and setting, but their high level of polish and quality of design remain constant. As far as modern point-and-click adventures go, it's hard to find a match for this German team of master craftsmen. This weekend, GOG.com brings you the [url=http://www.gog.com/promo/daedalic_weekend_promo_010313]Daedalic Adventures promo, so you can visit the amazing worlds created by Daedalic! Let's take a quick look at one of the games on sale, shall we?

and [url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/deponia_2_chaos_on_deponia]Deponia 2: Chaos on Deponia are gorgeous cinematic point-and-click adventure games that feel much like a Terry Pratchett novel. They tell the eccentric story of Rufus, a self-important dweller of the junk planet, and Goal, a beautiful girl that fell from the luxurious upper spheres. It's up to them to save the world (not once, but twice!), and figure out the feelings they have for one another. This weekend, you can have both games for only $9.99 each!

Want to find out what other fantastic adventures await you this weekend? Well then, point-and-click yourself towards our Daedalic Adventures promo page! The offer lasts until Tuesday, March 5, at 4:59AM GMT.

As usual, below you'll find a new episode of This Week on GOG, a short video guide to recent events, promos, and other happenings on the site. By the way, if you haven't already, you might want to follow the GOG.com channel on Youtube, so you won't miss our shows, specials, and exclusive trailers.

ZivilSword: Now that’s what I call nice. :)
Edit: what’s this for a game?
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1642/
While The Settlers III is all but confirmed with that hint, here are some other "three" games I'd like to see here:

Dark Fall 3: Lost Souls
Deus Ex 3: Human Revolution
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Fallout 3
Grand Theft Auto III
Hitman 3: Contracts
Myst III: Exile
Saints Row: The Third
SimCity 3000
Unreal Tournament 3: Black
Wolfenstein 3D

Vote for them on the wishlist!

If GOG get those here they will have at least three happy customers.
Is A New Beginning worth the purchase? I'd like to hear other opinions. I have not played the previous games Daedalic Adventures, but A New Beginning - Final Cut seems interesting.

I played it in german it was very good, the cutscenes were a little bit "slow". Great topic, story, maincharacter. But I looked at a lets play in english. Not sure if its good voiceacting. But I was very satisfied, watch some lets plays!

Greets!
Nice. But... still no patch for the Mac version of Deponia? It's still unplayable and yet it's still sold...

I bought and played the first few chapters today. The impression I got is okay game, TERRIBLE localisation. And I don't just mean "word salad" dialogue or typos (not that those aren't present) but things just aren't explained well/ at all. Just as an example: the first puzzle of the game involves you fixing a "fogger" machine. What's a fogger? Heck if I know, it just needs fixing. There are many times you do things in this game without the slightest sense of context. Plus there are a lot of glitches. A problem of German (I think?) text appearing instead of English that seems to happen in most Daedalic games (at least Deponia 1 and Whispered World, I haven't played any others) is cranked up to 11 here, and once when i "looked" at an object, it showed a scene of me talking to a character (that I hadn't even met yet) in a different location, then cut back as if nothing happened. That being said, the game has wonderful art, some clever puzzles, and (once your sorta able to piece it together) an interesting and compelling story, making me want to see what's next. Do I regret spending $5 on it? No. Would I recommend the game? Not really. There are several, far superior games on GOG you can get for just $0.99 more than this sale price, plus Deponia and Whispered World are also on sale, and they are far and away more worth your time and money than this game.
Hey, so I just noticed something: assuming Settlers 3 is coming this week, we'll have 2 and 3 but not the original! What's up with that? It was released for DOS in 1994; I know there are only about 100 votes on the wishlist, but GOG's usually good about bringing full series even when they're not sure some will sell terribly well. Plus, again, it's DOS, so DOSBox should make it a snap.

Hm, I bought the game two months ago because (a) I enjoyed Deponia very much and (b) the game’s original language is German, and I’m German. So, do you recommend the game for someone playing it in original language? I already heard of several bugs at release time, but most of them should already be fixed. I got the game cheap in the Christmas sale, and because Daedalic creates good stories, it can’t be that bad.
If the only bad thing is the (English) localization, I won’t have any problems. :)

Right topic, wrong thread? Also: the full Settlers series won’t ever come to GOG (not with Settlers 7 and its glorious always-on-DRM from Ubisoft).
