Bonjour et bienvenue sur GOG.com!

We're happy to announce that the site is now available in the native tongue of Molière, ‎Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Honoré de Balzac, Jules Verne, and René Goscinny! Here, at GOG.com we're always trying to make DRM-free entertainment more accesible to gamers around the world. For your convenience we'll be rolling out support for different language versions of our service, and we're starting with French - right now! On top of main page translation, french-speaking support representative is waiting to help you with your game-related problems and answer your questions.

All this is nice, of course, but we know what is the most important part for you: the games! We've already had about 240 titles playable in French in our DRM-free catalog. With today's launch we're rolling out another 30 French versions of titles such as Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Complete, Prince of Persia: Warrior Within, or Darkstone for a nice 270+ French-speaking games total. You can get some of them with a nice discount in our special promo, aptly named "Vive la France", that lasts until Tuesday, November 11, at 4:59AM GMT.

But that's not all. As french cuisine dictates, no meal is complete without something small and sweet for dessert! For the next 24 hours (that is until Saturday, November 8, at 7:59AM GMT), we're giving away a dear French-made classic, Little Big Adventure for FREE a game that's seeing its 20th anniversary! Remember to sign-up for your free copy and celebrate the event with us, and play one of the many memorable oldies coming from France.

Have a nice day, everyone!
Great news !

Merci beaucoup :D
So, the french still have no control over the english language...

MasodikTiasma: Goscinny, who happened to have French-Polish origins, just like this website. Well-played, GOG! :-)

Et pour ce qui est du passage au français, est-ce que vous comptez ouvrir un deuxième forum, une section à part pour les topics en français?

MaxFulvus: C'est déjà le cas ici :)
Dat lijkt me een prima idee!

Goscinny was of polish (father) & ukrainian (mother) descent, himself born and bred in France.

They don't even have control over the french language.
That's great, but what about us, the belgians ? WHY NO BELGIAN ? D:

Non je déconne. Encore une très bonne nouvelle pour cette plateforme. DRM-Free, support de Linux, et maintenant du franssé. Si quelqu'un me parle encore de Steam, je lui bousille sa tronche. >:|
Pas mal! :D

Cool thing, especially if the support is also in French. Will help get more people to GOG, I expect. And new languages are coming...does that mean more free games? :P

Thanks, GOG! =)

Although...now we have a French community. I hope we won't separate entirely...

There is no Belgian language. Only Dutch, French and German. Mostly the first two are spoken in Belgium.

If a new language comes with no free game included, I think I can already see the waves of "why is French speaking people getting a free game and not us" (while everybody got the free game) or similar messages coming... (which would be really sad by the way)

And if you believe our fantastic politicians who have way to much free time, there is no Belgian country neither ;)

Trilarion: It's widely spoken and probably has a high rate of non-english proficient speakers. It's the obvious first choice. The french community can break the ice and pave the way for each other language. On the other hand, it there is not enough interest, then you can be quite sure that interest for most other languages will even be less. Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, Turkish will surely follow next.

An not to forget 22 games today with french translation. That is really a significant improvement of the catalogue!
Personally, I would have considered Spanish as the obvious first choice, but that's just me. Not that I mind it, I simply found it funny.

Faenrir: Might want to take up some classes.
Here are all the countries that speak french:
Algeria, Andorra, Belgium, Benin, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, Chad, Comoros, Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, France, Gabon, Guinea, Haiti, Ivory Coast, Laos, Luxembourg, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritania, Monaco, Morocco, Niger, Rwanda, Senegal, Seychelles, Switzerland, Togo, Tunisia, Vanuatu, Vietnam.

I'd say that's pretty big. I don't see gog going mandarin or russian (much less games have those language options) so...other languages...I'd say maybe spanish and portuguese...then german and italian.
Bit surprised it's not spanish though.
I had 4 years of it in High school, and worked in Brussels for 2 years. I'd say that's enough classes, thank you very much.

You'd have to be looking at fairly old Vietnamese people, those who were alive during the colonial era, to find French speakers here, but I agree with you that French is widely spoken globally.

Italians seem fairly shy to speak English and when I taught in Span, everybody complained about English instruction in the public school system, so I hope those two countries get language support too.
Awesome news for French users who have difficulties to understand English or are uncomfortable using online stores in English. I just hope it won't end up like with Steam where you have to scroll 3 pages of threads and guides in Russian to see something not written in Cyrillic.
