Jack is Life! Jack is Love! The Keaning is happening!

Most sales are just that: some nice deals, tons of games, some flowery marketing talk about those deals. Nothing more, nothing less. As you know, last year we ran our Fall Insomnia Promo with the usual expectations that follow a typical sale.

The Insomnia Promo was different. Very, very different. It morphed into something beyond our wildest expectations. Entire communities were staying awake for this sale. The RPG Codex was busily snapping up and all classic RPGs. 4chan's very own /v/ put aside their usual bickering about which console was best and started trying to find The Pattern (sorry guys, you didn't crack it :^) ). Meanwhile, Jack Keane acquired a cult following (JACK IS LOVE! JACK IS LIFE!) all the while collecting a flurry of 5 star reviews where gamers documented all sorts of miraculous manifestations of Jack's blessing in their lives. Lastly, the Insomnia promo garnered its own entry on our [url=http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/the_return_of_the_insomnia_sale]wishlist.

Welcome to our Spring Insomnia Sale! Back by popular demand*, we will be putting up 100 games in limited quantities** with discounts up to 90%. We'll have more games for sale than Noah had animals in his ark. Indies. Classics. Classic indies, even. All kinds of games for all kinds of gamers. However, you have to be fast, faster than those Polish script kiddies*** lurking outside our offices so they can get 0.1 ms of ping!

We did change things up a bit this year. While checking out, keep an eye peeled for a random chance to get a free game. Yes, this time there will be no more split second freebies so everyone has an equal chance :)

*why would you do this to yourselves, you mad fools?!?!
**yes, we know that all games are being distributed digitally and quantities can be infinite, just roll with it, ok?
***it was a common theory that all the free games were being snatched up by Polish hackers. We don't have any hackers here in Poland, we deported them all...somewhere...

CorranHorn: I would have gotten a Playstation if I could have afford it but I later got to try the game on PC and it was just as fun as I remember reading about it. Uncharted felt a lot like TR and the new TR looks a lot like Uncharted, I guess the circle is complete=).

Uncharted was good and the sequel was even better, I´ll get the third one for sure. Sadly TR 2013 seem to focus to much on the shooting and not as much on the exploring part, that´s what TR is all about and it´s not a TR game without some really hard platform puzzle or traps that will kill you instantly=).

Ginganghouly89: I really didn't think I'd like TR(2013). got if for £5 on a sale and was pleasantly surprised. It was a lot more shooting than puzzling but was still put together quite well. Felt more like a movie than other TR games.
It looks a lot like Uncharted but they seem to focus to much on the story and not, like Uncharted, have a good mix of the story and the game part. Naughty Dog is probably the only developer today that can make a game feel like a movie without making it to much of a movie.

flambeau: My main problem with TR2013 is that it consists in a Tomb Raider game in which raiding tombs is optional. I bought brit survival's edition (wanted the action figure, lol) and although I enjoyed the game it didn't feel as I was playing a Tomb Raider game. Too much shooting, too few (and deadly easy) puzzles. It's a good game, it just doesn't feel like a TR game
I suppose me only paying five british pounds for it maybe clouded my judgement. If I'd paid the full retail price then maybe I wouldn't have been so generous.

It's good to find a place to call home. +1 for your kind words.
For anyone having issues with the counter on IE, try opening up InPrivate Browsing (ctrl + shift + P; if you've used Chrome before, it's pretty much the same thing as Incognito) and running it parallel (both your normal browser and the InPrivate Browser). It seems there's some sort of feedback between the two and it's fixed my problem, but BOTH need to be opened and on the gog main page, I haven't tested it with multiple tabs or minimizing a window, but hopefully this will help some people.

Thanks for taking one for the team!

musteriuz: It's only on IE that the counter's broken - it works fine on Chrome, but there I cannot log in. So, watch the counter there, log in quickly on IE when needed.

moonshineshadow: On Firefox counter and login work fine for me ;-)
(Sorry, just had to write this^^)
Why anyone bothers with Chrome and IE and such is beyond me. Firefox is still the best browser by far.

Firefox has been bloated since version 3.0......
Does anyone else suspect GOG intentionally included the most badmouthed Tomb Raider game on purpose? "No, no... Rogue Legacy doesn't go here - it's not sucky enough... wait, I know! Let's toss in the filth that is Angel of Darkness! That's block things up nicely!"

Firefox bloats really badly, especially when you start getting adddons since they are all interpreted. IE uses binaries, so they are faster (harder to code, but faster), and I don't know what Chrome uses.
