Is your body ready to waste away in front of your computer?

Wasteland 2 Digital Deluxe Edition, inXile's epic post-apocalyptic RPG is here! The masterfully crafted continuation to the 1988s original post-apocalyptic RPG, is available for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux on GOG.com, for $59.99*.

Wasteland 2 Digital Deluxe Edition, is the direct sequel to 1988’s Wasteland, the first-ever post-apocalyptic computer RPG and the inspiration behind the Fallout series. Until Wasteland, no other cRPG had ever allowed players to control and command individual party members for tactical purposes or given them the chance to make moral choices that would directly affect the world around them. Wasteland was a pioneer in multi-path problem solving, dripping in choice and consequence and eschewing the typical one-key-per-lock puzzle solving methods of its peers, in favor of putting the power into players’ hands to advance based on their own particular play style. Now, the legend is back, resurrected by the power of thousands of gamers' combined will to visit the grim and dangerous, yet strangely mesmerizing future once again. Today, we celebrate nonlinearity, mature storytelling, and other best traditions of computer RPG design. Brian Fargo and his inXile team opens the doors to the post-apocalyptic future: let's challenge its many dangers, together!

On GOG.com Wasteland 2 Digital Deluxe Edition comes complete with a free copy of Wasteland - The Original Classic and inXile's cult fantasy RPG, The Bard's Tale. *$59.99 is the regular price for this title in the US. Other prices will apply in different countries. If you end up paying more than than the US price, we will reimburse the difference from our own pocket, giving it back to you in store credit (this is what we call the "Fair Price Package"). If you only want to dip your feet before taking the plunge, there's a Wasteland 2 Digital Classic Edition available (US price: $39.99), and it can be upgraded to Deluxe Edition later.

sadthiago: And about the agreement with the standard to deluxe thing? If i heard it right, the thing was settled. I hope that a more clarified answer be given to us.

JudasIscariot: I don't know aabout all the legal bits myself. Could try asking inXile perhaps? Sorry if I can't give you a definite answer.
avatar
shmerl: Since WL2 is self published, it must be inXile themselves. So who's approval that would be, inXile's? And since the composer doesn't see a need to split FLAC into separate release, so who's idea that is, inXile's again, or there is some third side involved here?
avatar
JudasIscariot: I don't have all the details, sorry. Please ask inXile.
We're also asking GOG. If you don't have all the details, can you escalate it to someone at GOG that does?

Escalting won't do any good if it would mean revealing sensitive information since we don't generally do that. Sorry but we have NDAs for a reason.

If you have any questions, please ask the publisher/developer. We're just a distributor.

Is anyone from GOG speaking to Mark Morgan, inXile and/or Deep Silver to resolve the issue?

Problem is InXile seems play dead after saying the FLAC soundtrack wasn't supposed to be there

The silly part is ; Mark Morgan (composer) wasn't aware of people got the soundtrack removed.

So it "seems" someone at InXile / DeepSilver ? asked to GOG to remove the FLAC soundtrack , whithout taking in account people who already boughtt WL2

The product was advertised with a FLAC soundtrack , of course now this is no more the case...

I don't know and if they were, I couldn't tell you anyways due to NDA.

Again, we're just a distributor so it's not up to us. Please share your concern with inXile.

I tried, i submitted a form (since i don't have a forum account in their forums) , but no answer.

Everybody loose something in this situation : reputation or having the feeling to have been scammed.

This is awful. My kickstarter version doesn't have the OST, but my condolences to everyone that couldn't download the FLAC version in time. inXile better give it back to people that already bought the game at least, or this may affect Torment sales...

What does Deep Silver have to do with it? Do they own some rights in the game? I thought it's all crowdfunded and owned by inXile.

Well, i'm not sure , that' why i putted a ?

They publish a boxed version with an extended soundtrack (on CD)

the one which was avaible there had only 14 tracks, the other has 17 tracks. (but that's another matter)

http://vgmdb.net/album/38503 & http://vgmdb.net/album/48188

since we speak of the digital version, i don't think it should matter , but i can't be sure either.

Sea replied to the thread in the inXile forum. No fucks given confirmed.

Perhaps I should speak to my bank about pulling some things for inXile's accounts. That seems to be the way shit's done now.

You advertised a FLAC with the product you sold and didn't honor the sale by removing it after the fact. Don't try to pass the buck with telling us to contact inXile because you're just the distributor. GOG aren't representing their customers' interests. The purchase I made was directly with GOG, not them. I'm not contacting anybody but you. You should honor your sale the way that you advertised it or offer to give a refund.

Ah, I see. Then it's highly probable that Deep Silver initiated this whole mess.
So, to sum it up. inXile sold twice the soundtrack for some people (once for everyone who bought the game, since, you know, music in the game; and another one as part of a top tier package). And, on top of that, it's a mangled compressed version, because they made a side deal to get said soundtrack on the cheap (which seems the only explanation as to a side exclusive for FLAC).

Nice.

Kinda like making people paying for the privilege of beta-testing for free…

Sorry, but it's not our content to do with as we please and if there's a legally binding contract, as explained here, then we can't make any demands whatsoever as much as we'd like to.

All this should be some lesson to supporters - make sure that retailer publishers aren't included in crowdfunded projects in any way.
