Includes Mind Games and Gold Edition DLCs!

Sword of the Stars: The Pit Gold Edition, the complete edition of the challenging modern Sci-Fi roguelike game that challenges you to explore ancient alien ruins, is available 25% off on GOG.com. That's only $9.74 for the next three days. At the same time, the permanently reduce the price of the game's regular edition to $6.99.

Are you prepared for the Pit? If you think you are, scout, you've already failed and our world is doomed. I want you to really understand this: you are not prepared. Nothing in the world could have prepared you. No amount of training, not even years of experience, nothing. So if you're feeling confident, that you can go to the Feldspar Mountains, scavenge the ancient Suul'ka complex, steal their secrets, and return with the cure for the Ghoul Plague--we're dead. Our only hope lies in your ability to doubt yourself, second-guess your own judgment, and think twice about your every step. This is how dangerous the Pit is. I would know. I've been there. I reached level 3 before my squad was decimated by mutant beasts. So, soldier, I'll ask you one final time, and this time I want you to really think before you give me your answer: are you prepared?

Sword of the Stars: The Pit Gold Edition is a phenomenal turn-based RPG turning the traditional roguelike dungeon exploration, item scumming, and careful planning into a modern gaming experience. The infamous Pit is randomly generated on each playthrough, which--combined with the game's three different character classes--makes up for crazy replayability value. With tons of items to find, many equipment and character modifications, and--most importantly--a vast selection of blood-hungry monsters waiting for your every mistake, this game offers you a Sci-Fi adventure you'll be enjoying for hours and hours. The Mind Games and Gold Edition DLCs included in this premium package, add new layers of gameplay and come with a plethora of improved and added features. (Both DLCs also available separately. The Gold Edition Upgrade DLC costs $2.99 and requires the previous Mind Games DLC to be installed first).

If you like challenging games that first become your passion, then an obsession, and finally an addiction, you need to grab the definitive package of roguelike goodness, Sword of the Stars: The Pit Gold Edition, right now, for only $9.74 on GOG.com! The 25% discount offer lasts until Monday, November 11, at 14:59PM GMT.

Faithful: It is actions like this on the part of Kerberos Productions, and then selling here on gog that frustrate people, including myself.

It feels like Kerberos is trying to go to the same well twice to ring as much money from the same player base as they possible can.

I supported this game by buying here and on Gamersgate, but there is absolutely no way I will purchase the same game for a third time in order to get some DLC.

I also believe gog has more pull than this is a bundle deal and that-is-that. So, if you bought the game here and you want the DLC, sorry, but you can get it if you buy the game once more. I think gog could have stood in the gap for their customers and asked Kerberos to offer a better deal or an upgrade path for current owners.

It is actions such as this that leaves a bad taste, and makes me personally not buy future titles from such publishers.

Kerberos stop milking the same cow dry.

Gog, please defend your customers from such tactics and work out better deals for those support you and that spend their hard earned cash on your site.
I agree.

Should just put all 3 into a single game card and make base price 14.99 (like so many other indies).

You know, like how to UPGRADE your all ready catalogued games to include expansions, just do it for the dlc.
If you don't want to keep the price point the same as it was for the base game, just bump up the price.

Yes... but the Gold Edition upgrade is available on it's own for $2.99 (assuming you own Mindgames DLC, $4.99) so you don't have to redundantly purchase anything - each piece of the Gold Edition is up for separate purchase. gbaz69: Where are the "support forms"?
right at the top under "SUPPORT"
Since there is a bug preventing the base game from showing up when one purchases the entire series, will the 25% discount be extended? If not, then the only way to take advantage of this sale is to purchase the pack, contact support, and then wait for a game code to be sent to me?

But to quote the gog person "ASAP"... support usually takes 2-4 days to respond to me.

Yes, but I'm all most certain you need to wait until they fix it sometime AFTER the weekend.
I have yet to recieve my code :(.

Thanks, I knew there was a support button on top, I was looking for the specific place to get the "ASAP" support.

Got my Code in around 4 hours (during Night) after sending the Support Ticket. Thanks GOG - best Support ever experience from a Game Shop.
I think part of the problem here is how this is/was communicated.

Some people are unaware that the DLC is available separately, so they mistakenly belive the only way to get the DLC is via the Gold Edition package, which makes them feel like they have to pay for the base game a second time on GOG. This, however, is untrue. Each DLC is available to purchase separately. If you already own the base game, you can get both DLC for less than the cost of the Gold Edition package. If you already own the base game plus the MindGames DLC, then it's an even sweeter deal to pick up the last DLC.

Think of Skyrim. When it was first relased, there was only the base game. Then along the way came the DLC, and finally the Legendary Edition, which contains base game plus all the DLC. This is pretty much exactly the same scenario.

A couple of remaining problems, as I see them, are these:

1. Selling this way is not what the GOG community has come to accept as standard. I for one believed that typically when DLC is released that GOG would stop selling the base game only, replacing it with the base game plus DLC, then automatically add the new content, for free, to those that already owned the game.

2. The new Gold Edition package is discounted at the moment, so it feels natural that the DLCs would also be discounted, at least a little! The price difference between the two DLCs versus the Gold Edition package is too narrow to feel good about purchasing just the DLC if you already own the base game. To top it off, the base game just had a permanent price reduction, further leading people to feel like they were penalized for buying early. These feelings may not be completely rational, but they are human nature, and are real nonetheless.

I see that there is mention in the OP that the DLCs are available separately. If that mention was there from the start, it doesn't seem like many people picked up on it. Maybe the message needs to be more clear that if you already own the base game, you can pick up the remaining DLC for less than the cost of the Gold Edition package.

The last thing that I think would go a long way here is to put the individual DLCs on sale, for instance 25% off just like the Gold Edition package is, while this sale is in effect.

JudasIscariot: If you own only the base game, SOTS: The Pit, then buying the Gold Edition will get you the Mind Games DLC and the Gold Edition upgrade without an extra copy of SOTS: The Pit. However, it's easier and cheaper if you just buy the Mind Games DLC and then the Gold Edition upgrade :)
What about the situation if I already own the base game and just want the Gold Edition DLC without Mind Games? As it points on the game card: “Requires the base game Sword of the Stars: The Pit and DLC: MindGames on GOG.com in order to play.“ with the reason you explained here:

JudasIscariot: - The current installer for the Gold Edition DLC shares a lot of files in common with the both the first DLC (MindGames) and the base game.
But on Steam the Gold Edition DLC does not require Mind Games. Why here? And will this be changed in the future?

I have no idea how the Steam version is set up so I have no answer for the second part of your question, sorry :/

As far as the technical reason as to why our version requires the previous DLC, may I answer that later? I don't have all of the information at hand and I wouldn't want to misinform you or anyone else.
Of course, later or in some days, no problem. I’m just curious about the different prerequisities for the same add-on. Could be just a technical mistake or because of the forementioned reason. And I still have to play the base game.^^

If I, by any chance forget, please feel free to remind me :)
For those that do not own the base game; this is an incredible deal imo. This is one of my current favorites. Still debating on whether I should upgrade atm or not. I feel there should be a way for those who already own the game to upgrade during the current promo at a similar discounted rate as the people that are picking up the whole gold edition.
