Since its first demo was released in the Fall of 2012, The Pit has become an indie hit with its blend of Roguelike action and sci-fi depth! Players were challenged to survive 30 floors of The Pit using one of three characters – the Marine, the Engineer, and the Scout – then in The Pit: MindGames players were given two new characters – the Psion and the alien Tarka Ranger – and ten more floors to survive through, as well as a wealth of new items, recipes, weapons, and nasty creatures to fight!
To celebrate the success of the series, we’re releasing this Gold edition, which not only gives you the game, the expansion, and all the free content we added along the way, but we’re adding three new playable characters – The Hiver Warrior, the Liir Seeker, and the Morrigi Striker! Now you can test yourself against The Pit using all the major races from the Sword of the Stars universe!

I just dont get it, why there are people who gave this game bad rating just because GOG made some mistake with the release... its not changing the quality of this game in any way... and this game is epic...

The overall combat and exploration system works fine, but has a few annoyances to it.
The biggest problem is crafting, which is outright broken; the in game system for discovering recipes prevents experimentation and forces use of information from previous playthroughs instead. Actually using the mechanics provided means crafting is off-limits until after you've beaten the gameread more several times, most likely. Weapons and armor are scarce, so you'll probably feel like crafting was supposed to fill up the gap.
Another issue is skill balancing. You will always be barely able to open anything in the game, and the skill system doesn't give much opportunity to specialize to get around this limitation.
The setting doesn't feel like it has much to it. A basic intro isn't elaborated on in game, and story entries are locked away behind skill checks. It's unlikely you'll learn much unless you grind playthroughs.

i really liked this game, even if if i was not able to complete it. Stats, scaring gameplay, have to spare resources.
Only trouble, a bit hard.
But one point is , you don't have to wait for recipes, you can use the wiki.
anyway, for 5-10$, this game is good, mostly if 5-6 !
