12 days on the fringe.

Pathologic, a weird horror tale of major reality malfunction in a secluded Russian town, told by means of first-person perspective action and adventure game with RPG elements, is available on GOG.com, for only $9.99

People are used to thinking of space and time as if they were solid. They're not. The thing we call reality is just a function of how the human brain perceives them, in its very limited capability. There's but a thin veil separating the world of men and the dimensions that were never meant for us to see. Sometimes those parallel universes will push against the veil, testing the integrity of its fabric. Sometimes the fabric will tear. When it does, insanity pours through the holes into our world. The rules cease to apply, everything shifts and twists. Most of the times we don't notice. The fail-safe mechanisms in our brains go off and filter out whatever seems off and unfitting. But once in a while the tear is too large and the worlds collide with such force, that there's no way to ignore the madness and horror. This is a story of such an event.

Pathologic aims to scare you, but not in the usual "monsters jump at you all of a sudden"-way. Everything in the Russian town that serves as the game setting seems off. Even the rules of geometry seem to have taken a day off in some parts of the landscape. The barrier between life and death isn't working as it should. A strange plague is attacking the townsfolk. Nightmarish creatures roam the streets taunting you with appearance so alien, that you simply cannot accept their existence. You have only 12 days to discover the towns secrets and find means of saving it from falling off the face of the Earth, and into the realm of madness. This is game is one of a kind, everyone, so if you enjoy weird and terrifying stories, surreal aesthetics, and gripping storytelling, be sure not to miss it!

A stitch in time will save you nine, so the sooner you grab Pathologic, for only $9.99 on GOG.com, the more hope you can have to fix the fabric of reality before it falls apart.
I've played this some time ago but haven't finished it. I'll probably pick it later when it'll be on sale here.
The game is imho pretty hardcore, every day in game is harder than the previous one. It's not only about progression and discovering new things, you really have to pay attention to your health if you want to survive. And it's not easy to survive, even bread is so ********** expensive in this world.

It has a very weird but also very immersive atmosphere. The world is desperate and depressive, but it's somehow charming. Well, maybe not for everyone, but for those who like post-apocalyptic and mysterious setting, it's a good choice ;).
I have in on Desura...and I must use a cheat to pass the first fight :D
Soon or later I will begin it.
It was always a shame about the translation it got, as it deserves better. I hope they do re-address that minor problem and update it on GoG.
Yessssss, wishlisted for now, but definitely a welcome addition to the catalogue. Been wondering when it would show up.
Wishlisted, looks like my kind of game.
This game is so hard to find....thanks very very much GoG staff.
Thanks, GOG, this one is one of a kind game.

When I bought Amnesia: the Dark Descent two years ago, this game was on the disk as a bonus and i haven´t played it yet, but´ll buy it here sooner or later anyway, just because you´re so nice to release it.
Come now, the translation isn't so bad. The register might be a bit quirky, but it only adds to the strangeness of the game. Everything is perfectly understandable, even if there is a grammatical error or two. I think the game would lose that certain something if a proper translation were to be added.

Yep, it is. I think I saw someone on ebay recently selling VERY used copies of it for £14.99 each. That's twice what it is here!

I think that seller may have trouble selling the others he has left now
Great release and a worthy addition to everyone's library. So, Tension will also appear here in a near future?

I hear that's true of everything except the girl's story, which is supposedly considerably worse than the others.

GaminggUy45: I was about to buy this on Gamersgate last night. But decided against it Gamersgate has been a little meh lately.
I've been hearing alot of people say that about Gamersgate recently. Maybe it's the way they're operating, or the type of user they're starting to attract, I dunno.

But then, you only have to read some of the reviews on there, even for this game. You get the feeling that more and more of them aren't what you'd call hardcore gamers. They don't seem to like the fact that a game like Pathological is actually hard to play. They can't handle a game that beats them and requires a higher level of thought that a standard FPS. I suppose it's because they've been too spoilt by commercial releases in recent years. It must be awful for them to suddenly realise that they're carebears. If a game like Pathological does that to such players, then it's a game worth having for that reason alone!

But it is funny to see them rant against it, though
Never heard of this before. I hate horror games in general, but this one seem to be more about the story rather than the rest. I might give it a try.

I'm a bit concerned that it's the same developers that did The Void though, since I could never get past the tutorial in that game even after 5 or 6 attempts. I'm afraid the same thing is going to happen...

Hard to find? It's on GamersGate, Amazon, and Desura, and it's even been featured in an indie bundle at least once before. You didn't look very hard.
Wishted atm until I learn more about it(or it goes on promo; whichever comes first). I have heard of Pathologic, but know absolutely nothing about it.

Ha, this is really fucked up. I thought I had heard of it before. Yeah, I have cause I own it. Doh!

I read the post above about it being on GG. And I thought why does this title sound so familiar? I got awhile back. LOL

I guess one way to find out about it is to play it. I may give it a go later and see if it's worth of a place on my GOG shelf.
