The Grand Finale of the unforgettable Myst adventure.

Myst V: End of Ages, a triumphant ending to the most popular adventure series in history, is available now on GOG.com for only $9.99.

Myst V is the fifth and final installment in the Myst series. Once again, the player will explore amazing worlds, solve brain-twisting Cyan-made puzzles, and discover the last story of Myst universe. The game uses real-time 3D which gives the player control to freely move around all of the beautiful Ages, but there's also a “Classic” mode which uses the same controls used in Myst and Riven and finally a “Classic Plus” mode which is somewhere in between the two. 3D-modeled characters (created using motion-capture of live actors) look and feel lifelike; the backgrounds, as with all Myst games, carry a sense of greatness and magnificence; and original orchestrated score helps the game reach a peak of perfection in emotional adventure gaming.

This is a great return for Rand Miller and Cyan Worlds to a familiar territory, but still a sad one, since every puzzle solved brings you one step closer to completion. The final part of the series has the story and puzzles to keep you absorbed until you make the final choice that will decide your fate and the fate of many others. Myst V is a worthy successor and one of the rare games thats imagination and beauty will be never lost in time, a fitting end to one of the best-selling computer series of all time.

Decide the fate of a civilization in Myst V: End of Ages, an epic adventure for only $9.99 on GOG.com.

keeveek: And GOG has deals with Ubisoft, hasn't it?
avatar
SirPrimalform: Yeah, my point is that they'd be part of a separate deal. If GOG haven't got 3+4, it's because of Ubisoft (or perhaps because Cyan and Ubi need to agree on something).
Indeed, because Ubi doesn't own the brand, they cant just go and sell games that include the brand without the brand owner (Cyan) giving their permission.

SirPrimalform: I dunno, I agree that you could skip 3+4, but I'd say you still need URU to give 5 proper context.
I played URU last (I did not know where it fit in chronologically when I first played through the series), and I understood what was going on in Myst 5. But yes, URU should probably be played before 5. Also, the books (which are surprisingly good) give you a good idea about who the D'ni actually were, and what happened to them, which explains quite a lot about why things are as they are in Myst 5.
Great to have this on here and all, but I'm iching for Myst 3. I am unwilling to play them out of chronological order based on their release dates. I beat 2 and now I can't find 3 on digital download. Guess I'll have to ebay it.

Right, this one confused the timeline and the 'stranger' thing a bit. It's a good game, a nice release and i'll definitely grab it but plot wise i just wish Myst V had been something different.

@gog it's really nice to see a Myst game with extras. Please remeber that there are 4 other Myst games on catalogue without any extras. Bewteen Cyan, Ubi and GOG's own talented artists surely something can be put togheter to spruce up the series in terms of extras, no ?

Yeah, you're not the stranger in this game. I think you're whoever you played as in URU?
We need Myst III and IV, dear GOG,

otherwise there is no point by not having the series in its entirety, here.

They are a sort of sub series though. The main series goes Myst, Riven, URU(+expansions), Myst V.
I'm the only one who was disappointed that Myst stopped using the 'portrait' pre-rendered environments and went fully 3D? Don't quote me but I'm sure the original creator of the first Myst didn't like the way the series went with Uru, Real Myst, and this title.

I'm pretty sure they they did like it as they are creators of all the mentioned titles.

I don't know if it was ever set in stone but i think that it was implied that the PC in Myst V is Dr. Watson (DRC), so in that case not the anonymous stranger from Myst<--->Revelations nor the anonymous explorer drawn to the Cleft in URU. Kinda of weird to think about the PC as a defined character instead of an anonymous entity

I understand why you'd think that about Exile (even though you're given some insight into Atrus' relationship with Sirrus and Achenar, Saavedro's plot is basicaaly an off branch, a self contained story, which plot wise makes Exile a kind of 'spin off') but why Revelations? Revelations in terms of plot goes back to being all about Atrus' family which is also the main plot therad in Myst and Riven. Personnaly i think it's URU and Myst V that can be considered as a subseries within the main series, connected by the persistent general themes but mostly by the lifeline 'Yeesha', since the plot in URU and Myst V covers much broader issues (DRC, D'ni, Bahro) than Myst/Riven//Revelations which are almost exclusively focused on events revolving around Atrus' and his family.

Namur: ...
I suppose you're right, 3 and 4 are more directly related to the first two. I take back what I said before then, I now see 3 sets of games:

Myst+Riven, which concludes pretty neatly.

Exile+Revelations, the continued adventures of the stranger lots of backstory to do with Atrus's family.

URU+End of Ages, which elaborate heavily on the D'ni.

To draw comparisons to Zelda games, 3+4 are a bit like Majora's Mask, they don't move the series on as a whole but are direct sequels to Myst and Riven (Ocarina of Time).
Question, why does this release have the "Limited Edition" tag on it?
Thanks :)

Legion
great question!
If I remember correctly, they released a limited edition set when it originally came out that had the soundtrack and a making of movie. Since the gog version has this stuff, that might be why they call it that.
