His name is not Mark.

Mark of the Ninja is the sneakiest one-of-a-kind stealth platformer that you’ll never see coming. How did it get here? We have no idea. The Special Edition is available for $5.99, for Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux, on GOG.com! If you’re just not ready for the commitment, grab the basic edition for only $4.99 and the Special Edition upgrade can be yours for another $1.66 when you’re ready for more. The 66% discount across all three items lasts until Friday, August 8, at 9:59AM GMT.

The Mark is a sacred tradition of the Hisomu ninja clan. Extracted from the leaves of a mysterious desert flower, its essence holds a great but dangerous power that will snap even the strongest of minds. Generations past have found a way to harness this gift of nature, to draw upon it in need and strike against those who threaten their way. You have volunteered to be marked with this essence. In doing so, you will become strong, an unstoppable force. You will become aware, one with your surroundings. You will become agile, neither seen nor heard. You will use this power to protect the Hisomu clan. But as your body drinks the ink marking your skin, you slowly descend into madness. And when insanity takes hold, when actions stop being your own, will you make the sacrifice to protect the clan? This is the mark of the ninja.

You won’t find a more ambitious foray into 2D stealth gameplay than Mark of the Ninja. A detailed and consistent sound and sight system, as well as non-linear level design give you the freedom to approach every objective in your own way. Whether you’re a predator relishing each kill, a phantom striking fear and disorder into enemy ranks, or no more than a gust of wind, you can expect the same level of satisfyingly challenging gameplay. Go one step further, complete challenges, and unlock additional suits and abilities to compliment your playstyle. Once you think you’ve seen it all… New Game+ awaits with a whole new set of rules to overcome. All of this gameplay, wrapped in smooth animation on beautifully drawn backdrops, is enough to make bystanders forget you’re playing a game.

Mark of the Ninja Special Edition expands your options with a completely fresh non-lethal playstyle. Don the garbs of Dosan, a ninja tattoo artist with his own bag of tricks, and discover the intrigue that lead up to the main story. Done it all? The DLC also includes detailed developer commentary (in six languages!) scattered throughout the campaign for a fresh take on the world of Mark of the Ninja.

Disappear into the shadows, delve into madness, and honor your Mark of the Ninja for only $5.99 on GOG.com!

zeffyr: And the game's size is 0mb? :>
You're looking at the Special Edition aren't you? :)

Emperor_of_Mars: Wierd, the special edition has cross platform support and the basic one not.
Fixed :) Thanks!

tfishell: At 430+ votes, I'm happy to see this "completed", and it seems to be a really good game, too. :)
It's an excellent game and it really shows what indies can do :)

liamphoenix: Hopefully that's just an early mark and it, as a cross platform title, is going to be added to the list of GOG games available for Linux soon.
It already is :)

tarasis: Played it on the Xbox 360 and loved it (not played the Special Edition stuff yet). Well worth the money.

BTW the Special Edition page has the download size as 0mb.

Somewhat less that the 2.2GB + 216MB on the the separate versions
Known issue :)

I'd be more than happy to see all those games if it meant I could get Crusader Kings II (and all the DLC) on our site :D (seriously, that game is killing my sleep schedule lately and I am just playing it on vanilla no mods or DLC)

Phaidox: Judas, Paradox seem somewhat reluctant to release *anything* on GOG (I honestly cannot fathom why), are you suggesting that's about to change in the forseeable future?
No, not suggesting anything, really. I wouldn't tease you guys like that :) No, that was just my text version of a wistful sigh :)

tinyE: TWO MORE QUESTIONS before I get this bad boy:

1)This looks indy so I'm guessing it's not too hard on specs, correct?

2)When I get it, what EXACTLY am I getting. :P On the page I was confused because there is the original, the SE, and the SE DLC and then some talk of a bundle. I'm totally confused here, how to I get the whole shebang? XD
Just buy the SE if you are looking for the whole shebang :)

Tarnicus: Dear developer,

I previously purchased this game elsewhere and was wondering, now that the game has been GOGLit when will I get my GOG key?

Regards,
Entitlement
Ummm wat?

I think I get your drift but I don't see what it has to do with the 0 MB size issue?

Tarnicus: I don't either but your purple(I am told blue) writing looks nicer to quote and it's the only official post I saw in here to quote :P

After seeing constant demands on the Steam forums for keys every time a game is released that has been released elsewhere, I was curious as to what response a similarly written post would elicit :) Maybe the 0 MB size has more to do with this than I realised - the 0 MB one is the version that I can happily redeem my Steam version for?
The 0 MB thing is a site "feature" atm :) If you look on the DLC page and the page for the basic edition of MOTN, you'll see the actual file sizes :)

inc09nito: My thoughts too. Now they are starting to ship games in Elite/Complete and Poor/Unfinished Editions.
That means a no buy here.
avatar
Angamoth: It's not quite the case with the "Mark..." since the "special edition" is fan demanded DLC, which includes behind the scenes commentaries since it seems the devs felt that they can't add enough of gameplay content to make it worth players while. So it's a standalone game with expansion packs. Why people never complained about expansion packs but they are going for pitchforks whenever DLC is mentioned?
Horse armor :)
avatar
Smannesman: And the first Clone Wars animated series.
avatar
Elmofongo: ONLY GENNDY TARTAKOVSKY ACTUALLY MADE THE STAR WARS PREQUALS GOOD :D

HEY SHOULD BE THE ONE TO DIRECT THE NEW STAR WARS MOVIE, NOT J.J. ABRAMS :P
You should also remember about the influential "Korgoth of Barbaria". He did a hell of a job with Aaron Springer. They should revisit the idea now that cartoons are weirder than ever...

JudasIscariot: Horse armor :)
avatar
Angamoth: Ok that one was super extra bad, and generally pre-knights of the nine DLCs for Oblivion were bad, but bad seeds don't warrant the general uproar, really.
Well, horse armor never really went away, it still lurks in other games even to this day and I think that's part of the reason for the general uproar, if you don't mind my using your words :)

tinyE: Yeah the options menu isn't helping me and the shaking is kind of making it unplayable.

Hmmmm, I wonder if I got drunk it would look better? Maybe if I sat on one of those vibrating beds while playing? :P

Please tell me someone else has this problem and that it's an easy fix because one thing I could tell through the shaking is that this game is fucking A1! :D
What kind of shaking are you getting? O.o
avatar
tburger: The game looks nice but....by any chance don't you have Last Ninja in the stock , GOG? ;-P
Nope, sorry all out of ninjas for now :) Come back Thursday :)
