CaptainGyro: That's pretty much the way I feel too. I've mentioned it before, but I'm gonna say it again. I've actually had more problems with gog games (with fewer games bought compared to steam) , but I'm not filled with hate for gog

For curiosity's sake, would you mind to try to complain about GOG problems in Steam forum? :D

How about: "I bought this copy of Fallout from GOG and I've had nothing but trouble with it! It installed perfectly, played flawlessly, was very cheap, it was COMPLETELY lacking in DRM and came with a bunch of extra stuff not required by the game at all! To make matters worse all those addons were seperate downloads, I must have worn my mouse clicking finger down to a nub getting all of that stuff! You just don't GET this level of inconvenience with steam!"
The last person to "complain" about GOG games on the Stem forums was banned.

lolwut??????
So steam does not allow advertising of other sites as well? Wat fucktards.

That would be really cool if you could pull it off, but note first quote... =\
I'm confused. Where did the post say that advertising other sites=banning at steam? I've seen other sites mentioned a few times there, so I assume it's allowed.
and sorry but no I don't feel like making a gog complaint at the steam forum. I'm lazy and don't care enough about it to make a forum account ( I don't think you can just log in to the forums using your steam id. You need to make a new username don't you?)

Yeah, and you need a third account for support tickets. Oddball, piecemeal operation in some regards.

When Interplay came to Steam, some users `advertised` GOG's obvious advantages (cheaper, DRM-free) in general and Interplay subforums. Their posts subsequently deleted by the mods, I don't know whether they're also banned or not.

Steam policy doesn't ban people for advertising. I technically advertised GoGamer when I bought GTA4, and I am unbanned. Hell, I had a debate on the merits (and flaws) of a game with Derek Smart and wasn't banned. It is actually kind of hard to get banned :p
So if they were actually banned, they likely were doing something else.
Things like this remind me of people who get arrested while protesting. They CLAIM that they were arrested because they are for/against/aroused by abortion, but in reality they got arrested because they got out of hand and started harassing/attacking/fondling somebody to prove their point. :p

As far as I remember only 1 person was actually banned. I guess it didn't help that every single post had the word GOG in it.

i wouldn't say that : )
Thread is TL;DR the whole thing, but I though I should mention (in case it hasn't already), the Steam store page for Risen now lists TAGES as third party DRM. I don't think it listed it when I checked it about 20 minutes ago, so they may have just added it.
EDIT - I just noticed another example of the stunning lack of quality control when it comes to Steam and the game descriptions. In the game's minimum requirements, it lists "256 MB DirectX™ 9.1c compatible graphics card (nVidia® GeForce® 7900/ATI Radeon™ X1800 or better)", "DirectX™ 9.1c compatible graphic card driver" and "100% DirectX™ 9.1c compatible sound card"... there is actually no such thing as "DirectX 9.1c", so I guess none of us have compatible hardware.

That makes sense, because if your support account was tied to your regular account, then if someone stole your normal account, you wouldn't be able to get it back using your support account.

To derail this point slightly, my brother has been arrested several times before he even got to a demonstration, only to be released when the demo was finished. The police try to disrupt things as much as they can, through arrests, kettling, confiscation of banners etc..

Yes, but why do I need a support account at all when I could just send them an email?

That way, if your hardware doesn't play the game, they have an out! ;)
