The Pit goes on even deeper now!

Sword of the Stars: The Pit: MindGames DLC, an expansion pack adding two new playable characters, new insane-er gameplay mode, new locations, and new gameplay features to the challenging Sci-Fi roguelike, is available for only $4.99 on GOG.com.

[url=http://www.gog.com/gamecard/the_pit_mindgames_dlc]Sword of the Stars: The Pit: MindGames is a shiny example of DLC that truly deserves to be called an expansion! MindGames adds so much new content and features to Sword of the Stars: The Pit, that it can significantly change the way you play the game. You get two new playable characters, one of which--the telekinetic Psion--is the reason for the pack's title. The second one is the first playable alien--the Tarka Ranger. Two new play modes are being added, one of them allows you to play indefinitely, the other--aptly called "Seriously? Mode"--delivers even higher difficulty level to the hardcore gamers that find the "Insane Mode" falling short of their masochistic expectations. There are ten new levels waiting to be explored, including the new vast biosphere environments. Even the gameplay mechanics experience an overhaul with the addition of XP and item "banking" system, allowing some boost for the starting characters. If you thought you knew The Pit, think again!

For more challenge and depth in your favorite Sci-Fi roguelike, grab Sword of the Stars: The Pit: MindGames DLC on GOG.com for only $4.99. You know you need it!

NOTE:
This version of the DLC works exclusively with the GOG.com DRM-free Sword of the Stars: The Pit game.

JudasIscariot: It's on sale now as $9.99 is the usual price for the base game. Hope that helps and doesn't totally look like I am trying to convince you to buy the game :P
I meant that bigger discount sale from a few days ago.
I'm about to make a money transfer and make my first summer promo buy, so too late on that convincing part. I just kinda feel like "dang, i lost a few cents there". ;P

Ahh ok. Well, speaking as someone who has played SOTS: The Pit to the point of coming in late for work, I can tell you that you'll get your money's worth out of it. It's one of my personal favorites :D

Kristian: What he is saying is that if he knows a game will have DLC he will refuse to buy it unless and until all the DLC has already been released.

Fred_DM: ugh...

Kristian: He wants to avoid accidentally buying a game with upcoming DLC.

Fred_DM: yeah, that would be terrible...
I like how you separate those as opposed to keeping them together like they should be.

And I don''t really see why you are so mad that other buy and play games differently than you. So someone wants to wait for the game to stop being worked on before they play it so that way they can play it for the first time with all DLC, as opposed to playing it one, playing it again when the next DLC comes out, then playing it again for the next, ect. And at some point they may get sick of the game and just not want to play the newest DLC. By waiting for all DLC to come out they avoid that.

Ugh...someone plans to play a game like you don't want them to, how terrible!

I gave 'teh testing verzion' a few tries and decided before that it was worth buying. With the promo, i just didn't want the other games just to get a bigger discount, now my moronic lobe says 'your loss, git'. Well, on to the checkout then. ;)

[edit] and i made a transfer 10cents short, fucking currency converter mumbo jumbo, you never know how much you need.

This is cool and all, but please, please, please put DLC on the game's page or something.
Big vote for making DLC part of the normal game page, and also offering complete installers when all DLC is released for people who own it all.

Thanks!

At least if it were all together on one page it would be easier to find. In the 'shelf' space too, as trying to find all the Omerta DLC on my shelf is like looking through sock draws to find that odd sock.
I'm impressed this hasn't been one starred into oblivion yet. I guess the sale has overshadowed it.
This DLC looks way more worth it compared to the original game than any of the Omerta stuff, so I think people are more accepting of it. If I had the game I'd get it.

Good to hear something is being worked on to combine DLC with the original game pages. A universal install if you own all the content would be nice also, but it isn't a game breaker imo.

DukeNukemForever: And now the discussion quality went completely down under, hi drama queen ;-)

It's maybe not of your interest, but you should maybe read the postings before getting into drama mode, so far the discussion was very polite and folks like me just asked if gog can add some more information. Doom is btw welcomed as long we talk about the franchise...

Petrell: I don't see any complaints about about the DLC coming here. Some people seem to complain not being told about it in advance so they don't accidentially buy "incomplete version" of the game. My suggestion for them is that if the game is new release, wait a year and see if any info of possible expansion/DLC pops up by then. If no info is released by then, they're probably safe to buy it, or if they want to be extra carefull wait another year or ten.

Hesusio: ...Yeah, literally.

Yep im surprised. Thought there woulda been a flood of Anti DLC/IWantToBuyTheCOMPLETEGame whingers spamming their complaints by now :)
Glad that GOG has made the DLC available here. I understand some might not like seeing separate DLC sold here, but if GOG refused to carry it then I would have no other option but to re-purchase the base game on another service in order to play it.

Hopefully, when the game is "finished," they can make it a single purchase, but I am thankful that I wasn't left out in the cold here.
I realize this is probably the best deal GOG could negotiate with Kerberos, but it's still a raw deal. I don't think DLC focused games have a place on GOG. You may wish to inform Kerberos that someone who was strongly considering buying their main game has stopped considering.

A (hopefully) constructive suggestion: next time a DLC shows up for a game, upgrade the existing version, then raise the price. This would reward people who got the game earlier, while still allowing you to get back the expense of acquiring the DLC.
Wishlisted for now, I would like to get this perhaps when it's on sale or something when I have some cash. I am interested to see how it changes and effects the game as an overall.
I just finished the game on easy for the first time, and plan on taking a run at normal this weekend. I really, really love the game. It's been a while since something just hooked me in like a sucker as much as "The Pit" did. Now I can have more? I'm not sure if that is a really good thing, or a tragic death blow to my productivity. Whatever it is, I will have to get this at some point, because I'm a slave to awesome, and the pit is awesome.
