omega64: Mickey mouse might be riding the dragon depending on how things work out. :P
That would be an epic twist.
"I pulled up a KS before I even began to think about how I would do the game, and I totally did NOT pull my budget and campaign out of my ass."

Sigh. Crowdfiunding is turning into a "beg for money now, try to build a project late because I'm a bozo" platform.

catpower1980: Apparently, he already got one of his kickstarter funded:

adaliabooks: I think even more worrying then the Kickstarter itself is the comments from people who believe whatever he's promising is even possible...

Seriously... he's made his pitch in Paint, how do they think he is capable of designing and manufacturing some kind of super console?
I think someone mentioned this several pages back, but it's pretty clear that this guy is dealing with some pretty severe mental health issues. I strongly suspect (just on my own hunch) that the money came from his own family just for the sake of seeing the project become "successful" and get full funding. If this is true, I'd imagine that the money will likely find its way back to them (e.g. perhaps one or several of his own family members set up and controlled the banking account linked to his KS campaign, and then put their own money into it). They know it's not going to go anywhere, but at least the man can have his fantasy.

Grargar: "so our parents gets all the monney... but dont worry they will be used for the game"
Looks legit.

adaliabooks: And this... Lol.
At least they are up front about it... I'm all for people getting into game design but, you know, some details of what they actually plan or how they might do it would be good.. What would a cross between CoD and Skyrim even look like?
I'd give this kid the benefit of the doubt; I'm sure his intentions are sincere, but honestly, there is nothing legit about this at all. It reminds me of a prominent software developer and marketer from the UK who started a business selling shareware/indie software when he was around 15. Then he tried to develop an online app store, an online gaming platform, a screencast network...in the end he bilked people out of hundreds of thousands of pounds before giving up and admitting that he'd basically taken the money and ran with it.

Oh I have no doubt of that, but in the comments section there are people who are apparently following the various projects and offering support and asking when the console will be out... Admittedly they could just be fake accounts by friends or family members or people trolling...

Yeah, I'm sure they mean well.. Hell when I was 15 I thought I could make the next big MMORPG or something... but if they are genuine they could at least put some effort in (admittedly I haven't watched the video so that might be more informative than the page info) and describe what they plan to do, what skills they have etc.

Yeah, I was having fun with the Paint drawings and the "send me 1000$ and I'll give you the diagrams" pledge, and then I clicked on the video.
Now I feel bad...

His supports may be family trying to help him "live his fantasy" (basically a disguided allowance/present), as you said, or it could simply be assholes making fun of the guy.
I'd be willing to assume that it really is friends and family of the Cybermatrix guy who helping him out so that he has some sort of feeling of success. I'm having a hard time believing anyone else would be willing to give money to a project like that other than in joke only. And in that case it would be a dollar or so only.
More projects where the creator have a idea for some ambitious game and thinks in get someone to do the game for him...

They can't even bother to create a representative image for the game.
"This is a Video Game idea and I need you guys to make it happen! There is no game similar to this one but this style should exist."

Which would be... what exactly? No explanation anywhere. Good start!
I think the CyberMatrix guy needs professional help, and if it is his friends and family pledging - they shouldn't. It will only gets his hopes up, and they'll be even more dashed when he's laughed off the planet.

Did you look at his first KS? He thinks he can simply give his design to Microsoft and they'll roll over and beg for the opportunity to produce it. So misguided and delusional.

It's like the rejected people on reality TV talent shows where they all state that they were the best on the day, everyone says they're good, and that the judges are biased against because they're just too good, or they're wearing green or whatever.
Absolutely no idea that it's because they sound like someone's trying to strangle a parrot. And that their friends and family have been suffering through their screeches, and because they love this person, they're telling them they're brilliant. Which sustains their belief that everyone else is simply lying.
This kind of pranking or love is not helpful in the least. People shouldn't be literally buying into this kind of delusion. They're helping to create a monster.

It's pretty amasing how little people actually even try at times. These do have heard of KS, but they don't even bother to try as they think people just pour money to them because they are in KS.
"This is a very unique style of game" he says just under an image stolen from Fallout

Well, there is a facebook page. Which is a thing of beauty, in the "I'm enthusiastic so I'll say how my very original game is absolutely like any other bash-the-face-of-the-other-player-with-medieval-weapons game ever created, but I'll be very fuzzy with any real details".

My "favourite" part : "being on the top of the tier will be greatly rewarded with real life money if on the top of the real life money tournament ladder.". Although the presentation of legendary weapons such as the Dark Bow of the Dark Elf just after he posted about the fact that equipment will not matter against skill is kinda cute, too.

I need you guys to help me be listened to by a compagy and to actully make that company believe that my idea will be sold. I am not looking to make any profit on this idea I only want to play it! If the 5000$ is reached, I will give that money to the compagny making the game
I'm pretty sure offering products which aren't made by the project creator is forbidden by Kickstarter. So they're just offering project hosting services and brand recognition to project creators and a barrel of cocks to suck to prospective backers.

noncompliantgame: All jokes aside people. That poor chap is likely the result of long term use of anti-psychotics - probably just started out with some mild depression - his big pharna doctor sent him to a big pharna psychiatrist - they diagnose him bipolar or some other pseudo-scientific voodoo BS and before you know another human life has been devoured by the money hungry drug pushing machine that is the "health care system"

skinandbones13: Are you from the 12th century?
What do you mean?
Before there was a "kickstarter", some of these peeps would have been one of those "I have a GREAT IDEA for a full-conversion mod for <insert game>; and I have thrown up this here <insert free webpage url>. Now - can I get a large team of volunteers to make this happen? We'll call it "my mod" - even though tossing up a webpage; and maybe making a simple level in an editor, is the extent of my actual skill".

Back when I used to code - I'd run into "idea people" all the time. They think because they "have an idea" it makes them unique - and they want YOU to make it happen while they take "credit". They don't seem to realize that LOTS of folks "have ideas" - but if those folks cannot "produce" they don't go around bragging about those ideas like they are something special.
