CD Projekt RED, GOG's sister company and the development studio of the acclaimed The Witcher franchise, has just announced their new game - THE BARD: Saviors of Queens. The adventure is supposed to revolve around an undisclosed poet whose name is yet to be determined.

Following recent video game trends the title will offer a very short and linear story. Almost no gameplay whatsoever and twenty launch DLCs, including a special pink banjo (normally obtainable by finishing a game) and a unicorn mount, will have you stuck in front of your computer screen for minutes. Check out the announcement trailer below and visit http://www.saviors-of-queens.com for even less details.
Man, I'm so disappointed. I was looking forward to this game.

But, honestly, if these sequences are in "The Witcher 2", I'm happy as well.
Give it six months and ea will release something like it with dlc bards tales for 400 ms each lol

dwbridges: PLEASE tell me it features single button game play with Morse code input!! My mouse is currently broken and I can't afford to replace it :(
I CONCUR!!!
We need more games with simple either Morse code or requiring physical input of binary.
It'd bring back the good old days of the mortal combat/killer instinct combo, where people would have to evolve an expanded frontal cortex just to remember all the cheats ready for input at any given moment.

I think it is really sad when this thrown together fake trailer was more attention getting and interesting than those made by other game companies for their actual big budget releases. I often get bored watching trailers as most games have the same basic storyline and story style just different graphics.

This trailer was meant to be humorous and humor has been left out of most mainstream games since the days of Zork.

This could be an awesome game based on spy skills, social interactions, and theatrics, with mandolin bashing being a minor component.
My Dear Geralt,

I hope that this letter finds you in good health and high spirits.

As always, I travel as a matter of course and the crown pays me well for information from neighbouring kingdoms. Let's just say I place my personal safety as a sacrifice on the alter of my mother land. I put my talents to the best possible use and money my friend don't stink.

Again I remind you: Patience and good reconnaissance are the very basis of espionage.

For the time being I'm collecting data, getting a sense of the area. Recently I spent a night with a lovely lass. The get together was part of a bigger operation. I was working to unmask a Kepwinny agent.

But the bitch set me up. Yesterday when following up on information she gave me, I found myself confronted by brash band of bandits.

There was no time to think. It was time to act. I calmly lift my mandolin from my back and began swinging. I downed two of them before fleeing.

A mad dash through town found me barracked inside the boathouse. The bandits barely even let me catch my breath before trying to burn the place down around me. The two female residents of the house screamed and jumped from a window into the water. I copied them, without the screaming of course. The bandits seem satisfied. The lasses however were not of such agreeable disposition.

I had hardly managed to appease them in time to deal with dragon before sundown. That however is another letter.

Here's to the beautiful ladies,
The Poet

“May those who dream of freedom arise.
Seeing the sights of liberty with their eyes.
How far shall we venture, in this great wonder.
Elf, dwarf and human, set forth together yonder.”

My Dear Geralt,

As you down your next pint of dwarven ale, I must caution you: the brew's explosive.

Between my dealing with the angry lasses and the dragon yesterday managed a brief stop at the town tavern. Having spent far too long performing for the crowd and far too short drinking, I purchased a small keg of the dwarven beer for the road.

Alas, on the road, the dragon found me before I intended to find it. Indeed it found me even before I had decided how I was to best it. As the beast swooped towards me, I felt confident I could dispose of it with my mandolin. As flames billowed from its mouth however, I suddenly felt an indescribable duty to protect my beloved instrument.

I looked at the still far too full keg of ale in my hand. With a sad clarity, I took one last swig from the keg. Then I light the golden fluid with the dragon's own flames. I tossed the flaming brew under the beast. I ran.

I spent the night under the stars, sober, alone, and soaked in dragon's blood. The tribulations of the travelling poet...

As the first rays of dawn licked my face, a voice awoke me. It was female, elvish, and beautiful. “Come with me on the adventure of your life, fair poet”, she requested.

It's almost midday and she still hasn't vanished. Indeed if you are reading this letter then I am most definitely not dreaming. I suspect tonight will merit another letter.

Here's to the beautiful ladies,
The Poet

“A keg of dwarven beer, a keg of dwarven beer.
A keg for me, a keg for you, my dear.
How far shall we venture, in this great wonder.
She elf and human, set forth together yonder.”

Dooo eet!

Really, this would be great. Sure, it would have to have really good writing, but it could be done.
I'd so totally buy it. When does the pre orders start? : D
Just so you guys know exists a real game were the hero is a Bard and is even a RPG the game is called The Bard's Tale.

You can find here more info.

And i also concur that CDProjekt or even moders should do a DLC or Mod where Dandelion is the hero, it could be very funny. :D
Heh heh... This great game "will have you stuck in front of your computer screen for minutes. "

A nice touch.
