Why pirate games when you can get it legally cheap here with no hassle?

Pirated games = risk of virus and shit and no support.

Pretty obvious which choice is the better one.

Some are dirt poor/are collecting addicts, and some like to demo stuff before they buy it(while others are jerks who just don't give a f*ck).
------------------
That's wizard's(publisher's/anti's) propaganda, that is.

(But seriously, if you know what you're doing the risks are less than zero that you'll get anything.)
There will always be people entitled to get everything for free, even in this age of Steam and GOG sales, GOG DRM-ness, of gifting and "pay what you want" bundles, of modders and indie devs giving us alternatives (often free ones) to some corporate bullshit. I find that the best course of action here is to focus on the cool dudes and gals that buy games and donate to indies and modders and keep this industry alive for everyone. Focusing on the freeloaders won't change anything and it will only drain your positive energies, energies which would be better spend pleasing the cool dudes and gals.

Big_Boss: Well....but why?

If the know the link, they can simply contact the host asking to remove that file.
I have given them links to abandonware sites and the likes and this is the answer I got.

"Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Unfortunately, practice has shown that dealing with such sites rarely yields any results. Even if we take down a torrent, another one will spring up in its place on the next day. We (both GOG and CDP RED) believe that the best way to fight with piracy is to give the gamers a better offer than the pirates.

I will forward this to our PR/Marketing guys, however, and they will figure out if and how to deal with this."
Pretty much stating that it would be an uphill battle
Well.. sometimes I search games in torrent and later i search in GOG.

If the price is right, GREAT, I add to my collection.

Hmm
what if a game magazine with online and printed editions links to emulation sites?
or to streamed emulated games.

Woud it be worth to report it then, or shoud one just overlook it?

GOG (and some oher sites in smaller ways) pretty much reduced my use of piracy to zero - the only 2 reasons i ever pirated a game was either because it was not available for me to buy anywhere near where i live or because the price was too expensive - both issues were eliminated by GOG, and the being able to easily downloading and installing my games from GOG every time i change my computer pretty much ended piracy for me.

The only exception i did was when i bought a game from GOG and was unable to run in from a flash drive and the pirated version allowed it (no idea why), but since i already own the game and bought it grom GOG i do not consider it piracy.

Note that i do not buy "new" games, as the newest game i bought recently is at least 2 years old - i only buy games after knowing, from other players experiences, that it is worth it and not simply hype.
we should find out in which country the website's are "managed".

You can held the owner of the torrent website responsible for loss of money

Makinus: or because the price was too expensive
Sweet. Go to hell, GOG, I'll pirate a bunch of the games because I think the price is too expensive!

Well, Brazil was a special case due to very high tax rates:
"Games which are six months old in the US are being sold through legitimate vendors at 250 reais, or around $140 US dollars."

What is the average income down there, anyway? I mean, I suppose if one can afford a computer that's one thing, but I'd think that 10 USD might be a good chunk of change down there.

I think it's a reference to unfair regional pricing of other vendors.

The national average salary comes to around R$1500 (~$750 USD) a month. The country's GDP per capita according to the CIA World Factbook is $12,000.

(Guess I could have researched that myself, thanks. ;) $750 a month - hmmm, well, that's probably less than what my family makes in a week. But I don't know what housing in Brazil takes out of that - perhaps most of that needs to be spent on utilities. But I'd suspect at least an average Brazilian could buy 1-2 GOG games a month.
