Thunderstone: Seems like just a marketing ploy for both parties Curse could have gone the route of offering free steam keys but instead they chose gog keys which will encourage their base to at least check out gog.com and gog will surely get some new customers. In spite of their popularity as this site demonstrates their are people who haven't heard about them. So they are alerting both of their bases about each other's respective business, and they both get something out of it. Curse more upgraders and gog more publicity, seems fair.
How this will benefit the community, well the more users who join and buy from gog the better gog's negotiation clout will be when it comes to bringing more games here. This is a good thing
That sums it all up really nicely. I cannot understand why this would bother anyone here. Why would it be bad for GOG to enter mutually beneficial partnerships? It's just win-win for both parties and by extension that means it's a win for us when GOG prospers and can continue to serve us up the games we want in DRM-free form. What's not to love? You make a great point there.
As for Curse.com, well just ignore it if you don't care to see what they might have to offer you. No harm done. I will say, you do not have to pay a penny to utilize the Curse client with the games it supports should that benefit you as it happens to benefit me personally. I'm sure it doesn't cost anything to use their ad-supported gaming resource sites either should you wish to.
Some of you folks might even like what they have to offer even for free if you just gave them a chance you know. I admit I haven't bothered myself as of yet beyond using the WoW stuff and client but that is great honestly for a WoW gamer. They probably have some other good resources too.
I think sometimes people are too hard on GOG. They've been doing pretty good as far as I am concerned. It might be good to live and let live a little while they are simply trying to grow the business that benefits all customers here.
