timppu: ...how many AssCreed games will I be missing in between?
You are missing the Assassin's Creed 2('Ezio trilogy' of games, yes they pulled a Final Fantasy XIII & XIII-2 & XIII-3, by the way the 'Ezio trilogy' are the only games that actually matter, because they have a likeable character and a proper story) and Assassins's Creed 3(which as far as I've heard, is one of the disappointing ones).

Only you can answer that. Does it matter to you?

I now have AC3 and 4 on Uplay, if Ubi would bring the 2nd here...

Since I have no real idea what the "missing" AssCreed games are like and whether it makes sense to play AssCreed games in order... I don't know. Your description gave some idea, so there are four games I am missing between AssCreed and AssCreed IV.

If I decide to dip into some famous game series (or movie series, or whatever), I usually like to start from the beginning, and work my way up from there. Like not watching Aliens 2 or Terminator 2 before seeing the first movies, or playing System Shock 2 before System Shock.

I make an exception with series where the oldest games are just too archaic to handle nowadays, or so I believe. Like Might&Magic, Wizardry, Ultima etc., there I am happy to skip most of the early games. And GTA series, it didn't take me long to realize that I just couldn't enjoy playing the first two GTA games with their overhead view, so GTA3 was the first GTA game I've played properly, even finished.

I was only teasing you ;), I took the meaning of "does it matter?", as meaning something else other than "are they worth it?".
Yay now I've doubled the number of games on my UPlay account, from one to two! Hmm, which should I play first, Watch Dogs or this? I'll have to think about if for awhile, like a decade or two... Hopefully UPlay is still around then.

timppu: I already created an UPlay account a couple of months ago when Ubisoft was offering some other freebie (that GTA clone or whatever it was, I don't remember the name... EDIT: It was "Watch Dogs",...
I thought hard about getting a UPlay account when Watch Dogs was given away but since I turned away from that one, I will stay away forever.
Lol, uplay... They can fuck themselves, forever. Not even free :-P

Themken: Maybe I am silly but not even with such temptations will I get a UPlay account
Nope, that's not silly. Infecting your computer with UPlay is far too expensive, even if you don't have to pay anything for it.
Thanks for the heads up

koima57: Oh wow, already 10 years this franchise goes on... And Ubisoft hits the mark as it should.

Ezio 2 was my favorite so far, so tense, fresh and varied; Brotherhood had great gameplay additions but missed the character growth and different cities of the 2, Revelations was meh.. I've played 1, Liberation HD and China beside, still have to play the rest sitting in my backlog for some years... I have read on many sites current giveaway is top 3 material with the new Origins and 2, well, open seas and ship battles, that's thrilling just by context.

Sooo enough with my opinion, obviously this freebie doesn't include its dlc's and is Uplay exclusive, be quick to grab it while its hot, offer last seven days from 11 to 18 dec 2017.

Game is fantastic fun. It has a few warts and hiccups, but for fans of swashbuckling and piracy, there really is no finer game available. Its pretty brilliant that UBI is giving away such a great experience.
Thanks for the heads up mate, i got a girl friend who has just started gaming and absolutely a fan of AC series, a bit too poor to afford AC series though, university tends to do that.Bet she's going to like this.
I don't think I will ever be able to understand the hate uPlay keeps on generating. I have had an uPlay account for years and never had any problems with it. No desync, no downtime, no bugs.

Yeah, it's another client. So what. Frankly, whining because a free game is on uPlay is a bit like complaining that a book is free at the bookshop at the end of the town and not at the one near to you...
Welcome folks; glad many can appreciate a free gift, of an awesome game really honoring its 10 years! As another client, i will say Uplay has THE best ever "achievements" system, a USEFUL one with actual rewards, unlocking actions ffor points to spend for sweet content, be it a weapon or a character or a costume or a soundtrack, plus free wallpapers etc, etc... A far cry from rival clients.

Actually, it is WORST because of technical realization and support. Forum is plagued by complaints from users who can't connect to Uplay for progress tracking and rewards. I also got in that problem: I bought games there and for unlocking rewards which is new levels/weapons my Uplay client need to connect with Uplay Club. It coudn't do it. Support didn't helped me and I now have two options:

1. Play incomplete game because client made by Ubisoft cannot connect to their own server. Because of this problem I can't get access to the content I already payed for!
2. Download a cracked version of game I already bought in Ubisoft store with all levels/guns unlocked.

I must note, that this connection problem happened ONLY with Uplay, all other online games (Wat Thunder, Warframe, GOG client Galaxy, Gwent and many, many more) works without ANY problems at all! So, in the end, this "THE best ever "achievements" system" blocked me from content I already payed for!

Conclusion: until Ubisoft, instead of spending money to heavy DRM, start to spend money on fixing their own Uplay client and support, I will buy their games only if they bring them here - to GOG. And I really like GOG achievements system MUCH more than Uplay's because if I got problems with Internet connection I still be able to play full game without need for online unlocking content.

I'm so glad that you have to say this in every single of these thread. I was afraid you had gone changed your mind, in which case the world would probably end tomorrow
