xyem: End of week #1, where I added popcorn as a snack (to prevent me seeking worse snacks) and I am now 4.3% towards the target. The winner will be selected from the posts up to and including #62.

I'm quite happy with this rate of loss, if it was to continue (very aware that it likely will not). I'm not in any rush though :) As long as it generally heads in the right direction.

No changes planned for next week.
Congratulations on the progress! I might have to try popcorn as a snack.

Good to see that you are making progress.
Less chocolate :-( more forced exercise as I got back problems so had to start exercising every second hour at least so lost 2kg without even trying to lose weight :-)

xyem, you are doing great if you are not hungry and still losing weight. Remember beer is really bad for losing weight.
Wow, that was great, xyem! Is that all from popcorns?

samuraigaiden: Physical exercises help a lot and losing weight without exercising is very, very hard. If you burn a lot of calories with exercises, you'll be able to have a less restrictive diet and still reach a calorie deficit. Be careful because if you are overweight it means you probably don't have the habit of exercising and thus are more susceptible to injuries which will slow the whole thing down.
Also, exercise will increase the size of your muscles. Muscles are heavier than fat, meaning that exercise may result in gaining a bit of extra weight. However, more muscle means that you will burn more calories faster — even when at rest! So I think that exercise is well worth the effort.
Good call on the injuries, samuraigaiden. Swimming may be a good way to start.
good Job!!! keep doing!

In theory, yes. The only thing I changed was adding popcorn snack which means that in the afternoon, I don't end up going to the vending machine for crisps/chocolate/flapjack.

What is a flapjack?
<searches the internet>
Ok, may be either an oat bar or a pancake.
Way to go, xyem! Burn those lipids like a damn human torch! XD
OT, fun fact about xyem. He put that monocle on his avatar, along with a good chunk of the rest of the forum, about the same time I joined. All these years later he is the only one who still has it. :P

I think he gets an "A+" for perseverance. :D

Nice way to start - find and address the habit that was causing the weight gain and see results right away :) Good thinking.

Fairfox: imma glad you didnt fall into teh trap of sayin' they weigh moar ;)
For a given volume muscle tissue ought to have more mass than fat as they are more dense. Muscles pull you down in the water while fat helps you float. Sooo... I'm not sure I understand the trap you refer.

Anyway, the talk about pancakes made me wonder if there was a Fairfox pancake recipe somewhere. I feel like eating some.

Generous cat is generous!

Thank you mate. I was feeling very fortunate today, and your message doubled that feeling.

This might be a great opportunity for me. I can focus on games whose BR regional prices were quite meh or even higher than the base prices, but I would need a few days to create a sort of comparison table, rate the games by my interest and then select my haul. Your lack of time constraints will help me greatly.

Good luck on your continued weight loss effort. Now that you see results starting to appear you'll feel even more motivation to combat your body's tendency to turn back to old habits. You'll feel even better once you notice results in the mirror rather than in the scale. Keep at it pal, and thank you once more!
